Sunspace Design has completed hundreds of stunning glass construction projects for clients with homes of all sizes throughout over forty years of continuous operation in New England. The project depicted here was completed for clients with a stunning 5000 square foot oceanfront residence located in York, ME. We were thrilled to be brought in on a project so close to our office headquarters!
The fully custom ridge skylight project was a collaboration between Sunspace Design, CM Ragusa Builders of Seabrook, New Hampshire—who served as general contractor—and the Fiorentino Group’s architectural team out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Sunspace was brought in to offer specialty glass design-build services which included the full development and installation of the skylight.
Positioned centrally in the ridged ceiling of the home’s great room, the skylight opening measures 7.5 feet by 20 feet. This generous size floods the space below with natural sunlight while providing clear views of the sky. We built and assembled the custom mahogany frame in our New Hampshire fabrication shop. After assembly, the frame was delivered directly to the site, where a crane operator and the Sunspace crew quickly affixed it to the building frame.
As always, we used the very best insulated glass to ensure top thermal performance across all four seasons of northeastern weather. Copper cladding and flashing were used on the exterior (integrating with the slate roofing). The mahogany frame’s deep, rich color was matched by the building designer to complete a stunning look adjacent to the interior wood finishes. Angular and dramatic, the ridge skylight is the centerpiece of the client’s home, transforming an already beautiful space into something magical.

This charming home needed flooring that matched its personality - this beautiful laminate with deep, rich tones and a patina reminiscent of reclaimed barn wood was just the ticket!

For this primary bedroom redesign, the client envisioned a retreat that would provide a sense of escape and tranquility. The room was designed with a moody atmosphere, blending deep, rich colors that envelop the space in a cocoon of comfort. Color drenching was used on the walls, creating a seamless flow of hues that added depth and warmth. A stunning mural wallpaper became a focal point, its intricate design bringing an artistic, yet serene element to the room. To elevate the ambiance, a statement light fixture was carefully selected, adding a touch of luxury and drawing attention upward. Every element was thoughtfully curated to transform the space into a peaceful sanctuary, offering both beauty and relaxation in equal measure.

This bathroom got a fresh new tub, shower and vanity! The Della Terra Quartz New Venatino Beige countertop gives the walnut cabinets a deep rich color. The shower has Gioia Bone walls and Konkrete Bianco Mosaic floor. The new Konkrete Bianco bathroom floor and square cornered tub pulls this bathroom together for that perfect modern look!

Client had already painted a lovely grey green in the kitchen, so we worked with that color as a "given". It worked out well.

With this client's love of Japan, we selected two black and white large format photos to command the Master Bedroom. The bed is upholstered in brown glove leather, with round Harmon nightstands made of wood, marble and leather. Our masculine statement speaks in both color and materials, yet we've combined it with deep, rich, velvety blue bedding for coziness and warmth. Black siding transformed this home in Maple Grove. This project left a lasting impression, transforming a home with worn and outdated vinyl siding which had been damaged by hail and Minnesota’s harsh climate, in a lakeside retreat. The homeowners sought a fresh look that would elevate both the aesthetic and functionality of their property, making the most of the beautiful lakeside views.
The first major update involved replacing the tired vinyl siding with James Hardie board and batten siding in the striking Shou Sugi Ban color. This deep, rich color brings an elegant, modern look to the home, offering both timeless appeal and exceptional durability. The board and batten style adds texture and sophistication, making the home stand out in the neighborhood.
To complement the dark siding, light-colored cultured stone was added to the front and lakeside, creating a beautiful contrast and enhancing the home’s curb appeal. The cultured stone not only adds a natural, rustic feel but also integrates seamlessly with the overall design, providing a warm, inviting entrance and lakeside view.
Another key element of the remodel was the transformation of the home’s windows. A bank of smaller windows was removed, replaced by a massive Marvin window that now serves as the focal point of the living room, offering unobstructed views of the serene lake. The project also included the removal of several diamond-shaped windows and a six-foot patio door, which were replaced with a sleek 16-foot patio door. This new installation opened up the space, flooding the home with natural light and creating a seamless connection between the interior and the outdoor beauty of the lake.
With these updates, the home in Maple Grove is now a stunning showcase of modern design and functionality, blending sophisticated materials with breathtaking views.

Color & Character: Deep, rich browns, golds, tans and reds combined with original saw marks and patina, make up this line. Nail holes and ferrous staining may be present.

The Quarry Mill's Autumn Ridge real thin stone veneer adds character to the exterior of this residential home. Autumn Ridge natural thin stone veneer is known for its deep rich range of earth tones. The real stone incorporates greys, golds, gunmetals, and dark earthy browns. The range of colors allows flexibility and versatility when incorporating other types of siding. Autumn ridge brings a rustic feel in its natural state but can be more formal with field trimming. Field trimming is the sawing and cutting by the mason on-site to square up the pieces and make them more uniform. The extent to which the mason field trims depends on the desired finished look.

This remodel and furnishing project was designed for a bachelor who wanted a space that reflected his love for Arizona’s canyon landscapes while feeling intimate, moody and refined. The ensuite became a key focal point, featuring deep, rich color drenching, mixed wood textures and a custom vanity. Warm and cool tones balance the space, while carefully integrated lighting enhances depth and atmosphere. Functionality was just as important as aesthetics. Custom-height vanities and mirrors were tailored for a more ergonomic fit, ensuring everyday comfort without compromising style. Thoughtful material choices—matte finishes, textured woods and natural stone—add a tactile, grounded quality to the space. The result is a sleek yet inviting retreat, designed for both relaxation and efficiency.
