The chimney crown is a concrete plate or cover for a chimney that prevents water and the elements from entering the home. A properly formed chimney will have a slope that encourages water to wash away from the chimney rather than pool on top of it and cause deterioration issues.

Our skilled craftsmen restored a set of antique leaded glass windows for a Denver homeowner, carefully re-leading deteriorated panels, replacing broken glass pieces, and cleaning decades of grime. The new owners of this long neglected c.1780 vernacular late Georgian/early Federal era frame farmhouse hired R. J. Doerr to completely restore the interior and exterior and enlarge the existing house. The restoration was as extensive. The home's exterior was stripped, revealing a highly deteriorated mud and log nogged timber frame. Several contemporary and deteriorated Victorian era architectural elements were removed during the restoration to return the house to an appearance in keeping with its original construction. The house's earliest intact architectural features were retained and restored, while numerous missing details were faithfully replicated. New front and rear porches were added to the home to assume the place of long removed originals and the large central and end chimneys that define the house's roofline were completely reconstructed as part of the project.

Close to the beach. the prior fence and gate for this home, facing the alley, had deteriorated beyond repair. No longer a problem as we have replaced it with powder-coated aluminum sliding gates. Paul Despenas: The home was built in the late 1970’s and the windows had seen better days. At some point wood just stops holding paint and the exterior sills and casings start to deteriorate. Those are the easy fix. It’s when the window sashes start to deteriorate, it is past the time to start looking for new windows. When you can see wood rot on the sills, casings and sashes it is allowing water and air to infiltrate into the rough opening of the home causing structural damage and mold.
