The design of this Milwaukee bathroom remodel fits this 1930s home with a built-in linen cabinet, a leaded glass window, 3 arched doorways, and historic trim, doors and door knobs. This 1930s bathroom remodel in Milwaukee’s Story Hill neighborhood includes accessibility features including grab bars, a walk-in shower and a handheld showerhead.
The goals of this project:
+ Maintain the historic charm of the 1930s bathroom
+ Design with accessibility features for aging in place
Highlights of this Milwaukee Bathroom Remodel:
Walk-In Shower & Bathtub – The homeowners wanted their bathroom to include accessibility features. We added grab bars and reinforced some areas for future grab bars if needed. The walk-in shower has a minimal threshold and a handheld showerhead for easy use.
Heated Floors & Built-In Linen Cabinet – A built-in linen cabinet had been deteriorating over the years and was partly unusable because of the radiator being in the way. We removed the radiator and installed electric floors as the heat source. We also refaced, painted and added roll outs behind the bottom doors of the cabinet.
New Vanity – The homeowners needed more storage and countertop space so we replaced the pedestal sink with a vanity. A traditional style faucet fixture looks similar to what you would have originally seen in this 1930s home. The countertop is quartz that looks like a classic marble without the maintenance of marble. A traditional profile edge gives it an elevated look. A new medicine cabinet over the sink also provides storage in a bathroom the entire family uses.
Arched Doorways – This bathroom features three arched doorways – one in the entryway, one over the bathtub and one near the toilet. Our team carefully worked around the arches, as It was important to keep these architectural elements.
Tilework – The patterned floor tile is a fresh take on the traditional black and white historical bathrooms. It pairs seamlessly with the traditional subway tile walls and hexagon shower floor tile.
Historic Design Elements – Custom doors and trim match the existing in the home, as well as door knobs. It was important to salvage and clean up the leaded glass window and keep the existing arches. Bead board walls, cabinet hardware and overhead lighting were carefully selected to fit the period of the home.

Every inch of the inside and outside living areas are re-conceived in this full house and guest-house renovation in Berkeley. In the main house the entire floor plan is flipped to re-orient public and private areas, with the formerly small, chopped up spaces opened and integrated with their surroundings. The studio, previously a deteriorating garage, is transformed into a clean and cozy space with an outdoor area of its own. A palette of screen walls, Corten steel, stucco and concrete connect the materiality and forms of the two spaces. What was a drab, dysfunctional bungalow is now an inspiring and livable home for a young family. Photo by David Duncan Livingston.

We recommend using a UV rated weatherproof sealant twice yearly. This sealant is a crucial step in the life of the decking tiles and can extend the life of the decking tiles, in some cases, pending the climate, by 1 to 2 years.
The life of a decking tile is heavily dependent on the climate of where they are located. Hot, humid climates, rainy climates, and cold, snowy climates can cause the decking tiles to deteriorate faster than using them in a climate controlled environment, like inside of a house or indoor venue.

This backyard received a complete facelift with new exposed aggregate concrete deck, 12" red brick coping, tile, and white plaster. The raised wall also needed to be reconstructed due to deterioration.

This historic Boston home, built in 1912, was on verge of complete deterioration after decades of neglect. When the home was purchased, the new owners were eager to make major renovations and add modern conveniences to the house. To move forward with the renos, they had to carefully follow the Massachusetts’ Historical Society guidelines and rules. To preserve the original window frames, it was not possible to install regular fixed screens for shading and insect protection. Luckily, Phantom’s retractable screens followed all of the Society’s guidelines, and provided the owners with the solar shade, ventilation and insect protection they needed.

Before: This customer wanted a single gate to replace the deteriorating double gate they had on the side of their house. These are before & after pictures.

This was a rebuild of an existing wood deck that was heavily deteriorated. You are looking at steps to the upper levels of a multi-tier deck. The deck is made of a PVC decking material that has a through and through color. The railing is designed to maximize the view, and be safe for kids. The vertical cables eliminate a ladder like configuration so kids cannot climb on the railing. Photo courtesy of TimberTown USA

Completed install on new retaining wall. We used a Uni-Lock stone/brick, and replaced old deteriorating rail road ties. We build commercial and residential retaining walls.

A neighbor was preparing his house for sale and the previous coating was in decent condition but very dirty from the nearby street. A thorough washing followed by aggressive sanding removed dirt and some deteriorated finishes on shingles on the second and third floors; we also stripped some ugly paint from higher profile trim details around the front porch. Finish coats were applied using a more durable and dense finish that will wash nicely in the future; the finish density will help resist the accumulation of street dust.

The old existing siding was deteriorating and rotting. Wood peckers and insects had their fun with this home. The home owner decided to go with a James Hardie Fiber Cement project to fight the pest, with giving the house a clean, presentable curb side appeal.
Project By Krumwiede Roofing & Exteriors

This home was built in the 70's and as you can imagine has acquired a few "ailments" over the past 40 years, one of the more serious being the deterioration of the front entrance. The brick started to loosen over the years and eventually started to break apart completely, it got to the point that the family could not use the front entrance at all due to the safety hazard it represented. After interviewing with several contractors the home owners contacted David Sharp with DSLD Land Management and he was able to ease the tension and offer a solution that not only resulted in a beautifully restored front entrance but that also fit comfortably into their budget. The project took less than a week to complete and as you can imagine the home owners are thrilled with the final product!

At Deskins Siding & Exteriors, we understand that not every homeowner is ready for a full exterior remodel all at once. That’s why we offer flexible, phased solutions—like this recent project in Cypress, TX.
About 5–10 years ago, this homeowner upgraded their failing siding with James Hardie fiber cement, but only patched the OSB-based fascia at the time (similar to today’s LP SmartSide products). During a recent roof installation, much of the remaining fascia was revealed to be deteriorating. That’s when they called us.
We replaced the compromised trim with smooth Hardie fascia and repainted all existing trim to extend its lifespan. The result? A cohesive, durable finish that protects the home and enhances curb appeal—without the cost of a full tear-out.
Whether you're tackling siding, roofing, or trim repairs, our design-driven approach ensures every detail works in harmony.

FULL SIDING REPLACEMENT IN CENTENNIAL, CO
This home in Centennial, Colorado was built in 1977. The home still had the original siding which means that it the siding was 43 years old? The original board and batten siding was spongey in places where rot and deterioration had taken its toll over the years. The homeowners had owned this home for 5 years and were ready to invest in their siding.
Colorado Siding Repair installed James Hardie ColorPlus lap siding in Light Mist with Arctic White trim on the whole home. We also painted the shutters and doors in Sherwin William’s Tricorn Black. We ended up painting the brick as requested by the customer. Check out how this lighter profile changed everything on this home?

This oceanfront property in Oak Island, NC required extensive structural repairs after long-term moisture intrusion caused significant deterioration to wall framing, sheathing, and structural components. RGR Construction and Roofing, LLC exposed damaged areas, removed compromised materials, and is rebuilding the exterior wall system to restore structural integrity and meet coastal wind and uplift requirements.
The elevated deck structure and ocean-facing wall required careful coordination to ensure proper load support, sheathing continuity, and weatherproofing. This project highlights the importance of proper construction practices in coastal environments where moisture, salt air, and storms accelerate structural wear.

It may seem that replacement is the only option for concrete gone bad, but Concrete Craft provides an economical solution to repair and restore your existing concrete surfaces without demolition and replacement.
