Our Cole Valley clients have lived in their Edwardian home for many years, and have a large garden with established trees, they were looking for a redefinition and reorganization in their outdoor living space. We developed three distinct areas for them to explore, relax and entertain. Contrasting color, movement and texture, and repeating patterns throughout unify the garden’s relaxed turn of the century cottage style. Starting with a shady fern garden anchored by two Garrya elliptica, a decomposed granite path meanders through a garden full of strong, architectural forms of Mangaves, Agaves, Phormiums and grasses. Dry stone walls of varying heights along the path lead to an enclosed third garden with a larger seating area, bathed in sun and rich with hues of burgundy, maroon, and shades of pink and chocolate.

Unique custom designed wood wall panel makes for an interesting backdrop to this custom swivel bed that can be turned to see the waterfront or a wall mounted TV. The design goal of this home was to create an old English cottage. Francis Garcia of Francis Garcia Architect studied the architecture of aged English cottages through photos as well as referenced various homes in Carmel, CA. In search of a stone to complement the client’s stylistic goals, Eldorado Stone’s York Limestone proved to be exactly what they were looking for. The sense of age and authenticity in conjunction with a consistent color palette and profile cut produced the exact feel Garcia was hoping to recreate. A new residential development at Pier 70 in San Francisco - currently under construction (completion in 2022). Two, six-story structures housing 240 units and a large amenities area, the design proposal included experiential programming and design for main lobby areas, interior courtyard, rooftop terraces, residential units and amenity programs. — Deriving from the Pier’s maritime and warehouse heritage, the design embraces the temporal quality of the surrounding waterfront and evolving character & craftsmanship innate in the people and industries of Pier 70. Finding a balance between restraint and refinement, simple, sculptural forms were emphasized through texture of material, providing warmth and depth to each space. A subtle, neutral color palette complements & contrasts against raw unfinished materials and natural textures. The intent being to create a strong connection between inside and out - seeking the universal truth of harmony and balance - so often found in nature.

The Condo Remodel living and dining area opens toward a balcony and broad lake view through large glass doors and windows with a fantastic view. Warm wood flooring connects a compact lounge with a round dining table, while the deep blue tiled fireplace wall adds a strong vertical accent. Neutral walls and restrained furnishings preserve visual openness in the modest footprint. Natural light and the scenic outlook become the primary decorative elements in this efficient open-plan condo interior.

An interior designer hired us to create a custom abstract artwork for this modern living room. The goal was to bring bold color into a warm, neutral space and give the wall above the console a strong focal point. We developed a geometric composition with coral, teal, mustard, navy, and olive shapes divided by expressive black lines. The artwork’s scale gives it presence, while its colors sit comfortably alongside the room’s wood tones and soft furnishings. The result feels lively, personal, and at home in the space.
