This porch has a gable roof over the dining room and a flat roof over the seating area. The upstairs windows dictated the roof lines and we made the roof lines work for us. By having 2 different ceilings, the porch becomes a 2 room space which fits the furniture needs perfectly.

This bathroom was totally reconfigured, but this existing sink was too special not to save. The art-deco glass legs dictated the rest of the space, and we were thrilled we could rehabilitate it to its original beauty.

**Project Overview** This new construction home built next to a serene lake features a gorgeous, large-scale kitchen that also connects to a bar, home office, breakfast room and great room. The homeowners sought the warmth of traditional styling, updated for today. In addition, they wanted to incorporate unexpected touches that would add personality. Strategic use of furniture details combined with clean lines brings the traditional style forward, making the kitchen feel fresh, new and timeless. **What Makes This Project Unique?* Three finishes, including vintage white paint, stained cherry and textured painted gray oak cabinetry, work together beautifully to create a varied, unique space. Above the wall cabinets, glass cabinets with X mullions add interest and decorative storage. Single ovens are tucked in cabinets under a window, and a warming drawer under one perfectly matches the cabinet drawer under the other. Matching furniture-style armoires flank the wall ovens, housing the freezer and a pantry in one and custom designed large scale appliance garage with retractable doors in the other. Other furniture touches can be found on the sink cabinet and range top cabinet that help complete the look. The variety of colors and textures of the stained and painted cabinetry, custom dark finish copper hood, wood ceiling beams, glass cabinets, wood floors and sleek backsplash bring the whole look together. **Design Challenges* Even though the space is large, we were challenged by having to work around the two doorways, two windows and many traffic patterns that run through the kitchen. Wall space for large appliances was quickly in short supply. Because we were involved early in the project, we were able to work with the architect to expanded the kitchen footprint in order to make the layout work and get appliance placement just right. We had other architectural elements to work with that we wanted to compliment the kitchen design but also dictated what we could do with the cabinetry. The wall cabinet height was determined based on the beams in the space. The oven wall with furniture armoires was designed around the window with the lake view. The height of the oven cabinets was determined by the window. We were able to use these obstacles and challenges to design creatively and make this kitchen one of a kind. Photo by MIke Kaskel

This client's beautiful south-facing landscape begged for shade. The motorized adjustable pergola affords an adjustable amount of sun or shade as the weather and temperature dictate. This customer was so pleased, we've built 3 more in their area due to referrals!

This was a whole house remodel done to prepare a 20 year old house for resale. Market comps for the neighborhood dictated the budget and we updated the house structurally with elements like a new roof, custom shower, counters, as well as aesthetically with new paint, carpet and fixtures. This home is still the top seller for price per square foot over the past several years.

The name says it all. This lot was so close to Camelback mountain in Paradise Valley, AZ, that the views would, in essence, be from the front yard. So to capture the views from the interior of the home, we did a "twist" and designed a home where entry was from the back of the lot. The owners had a great interest in European architecture which dictated the old-world style. While the style of the home may speak of centuries past, this home reflects modern Arizona living with spectacular outdoor living spaces and breathtaking views from the pool. Architect: C.P. My client here is super tall and so we maximised storage for his books by installing floating shelves high up. His library ladder dictated the choice of cherry wood for the desk and the floating shelves and its uniqueness is admirable. The brackets were matched with the antique bronze throughout the house. The books warm up the space and are my favourtie part of the room.

Pied a terre may suggest feet on the ground, but who says whimsy and elan can’t levitate a small space of under a thousand square feet into a delightfully livable illusion? Of course it helps when ceilings are high, architecture is handsomely detailed, and a grand little drawing room opens to the tiniest of patios. For Decorations Lucullus it wasn’t size that would dictate style, but the romance of playful scale.

This getaway for a busy globe-trotting family is close to home for me. It is in beautiful Saint Helena, California, where I have a home myself (See Napa Valley Redux). The clients’ direction was for a more modern aesthetic than the traditional style the architecture might have dictated.
