Angel Bouchelle of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Annapolis, MD designed a transitional-inspired kitchen featuring Merillat Classic Cabinetry. The base cabinets are the Ralston full overlay door style in Maple with a Boardwalk finish. The wall and pantry cabinets, also Ralston, have a Chiffon finish. The kitchen also features Cambria Everleigh countertops. The client expressed their satisfaction, saying, "I love the design that Angel and Reico implemented! We now have so much light and better use of space. The additional storage makes it much more functional and organized than our old kitchen. This project was a blast! We worked diligently with our clients to give their new home a grand contemporary feel. In this palette we used black, gold, and the clients favourite colour, blue! We started off using black and gold for the entry way to set the mood as you walk into the home. As you walk through out the home, we kept the gold but introduced the navy blue in the living room, kitchen, and sun room. Using multiple patterns and textures you will sure to never get bored of your space! We thank our legacy clients for the opportunity to give there home a new fresh look!

Our client purchased what had been a custom home built in 1973 on a high bank waterfront lot. They did their due diligence with respect to the septic system, well and the existing underground fuel tank but little did they know, they had purchased a house that would fit into the Three Little Pigs Story book. The original idea was to do a thorough cosmetic remodel to bring the home up to date using all high durability/low maintenance materials and provide the homeowners with a flexible floor plan that would allow them to live in the home for as long as they chose to, not how long the home would allow them to stay safely. However, there was one structure element that had to change, the staircase. The staircase blocked the beautiful water/mountain few from the kitchen and part of the dining room. It also bisected the second-floor master suite creating a maze of small dysfunctional rooms with a very narrow (and unsafe) top stair landing. In the process of redesigning the stairs and reviewing replacement options for the 1972 custom milled one inch thick cupped and cracked cedar siding, it was discovered that the house had no seismic support and that the dining/family room/hot tub room and been a poorly constructed addition and required significant structural reinforcement. It should be noted that it is not uncommon for this home to be subjected to 60-100 mile an hour winds and that the geographic area is in a known earthquake zone. Once the structural engineering was complete, the redesign of the home became an open pallet. The homeowners top requests included: no additional square footage, accessibility, high durability/low maintenance materials, high performance mechanicals and appliances, water and energy efficient fixtures and equipment and improved lighting incorporated into: two master suites (one upstairs and one downstairs), a healthy kitchen (appliances that preserve fresh food nutrients and materials that minimize bacterial growth), accessible bathing and toileting, functionally designed closets and storage, a multi-purpose laundry room, an exercise room, a functionally designed home office, a catio (second floor balcony on the front of the home), with an exterior that was not just code compliant but beautiful and easy to maintain. All of this was achieved and more. The finished project speaks for itself.

This is our second project for these clients. We have now renovated ¾ of their home. This project’s goal was to segregate the work area from the private area. They have a professional recording studio, so our team worked around the recording schedule throughout the project to accommodate this. This project is a perfect example of why our unique “programming” approach with early identification of investment limits is so essential to a successful remodel. At the start, these homeowners wanted to explore the possibility of 3 season porch addition off the back of their home. The goal was to expand gathering and entertainment space for their family and friends, addressing the current cramped porch and uncovered deck. It became clear to everyone after diligent time spent in phase one of programming that also addressing other concerns in the home, such as the front entry porch and fixing the windows in the existing 4 season porch, would blow the budget. We worked through a re-design with the homeowner over the next months and eventually created a large deck, an updated porch with new windows and patio door, and a front entry deck. We installed a water drainage system underneath the deck with LED lighting, so the homeowner could finish an additional patio space underneath the new deck. This couple made the decision early on that this was their last home and therefore the investment was more than mere ROI would suggest is proper.
