Hosting a dinner party or just a family dinner, this kitchen is built to serve. Double oven, huge island and plenty of counter space make this the idea hosting kitchen.

We love to entertain and wanted a large outdoor dining space for our dinner parties. We built a large pergola and paver patio and furnished it with an oversized farm table from Restoration Hardware and chairs from Palecek. Two outdoor light fixtures complete the look.

The entire basement was redesigned to accommodate this space. The wine cellar went from being an enclosed room in a far hidden corner to being front and center with glass walls showcasing it from the new bar. The entrance to the wine cellar was immediately adjacent to the stairs for easy access during dinner parties. Since the bar was located in the corner of a space with no windows, lighting was very important. Interior lights were not only put inside the glass cabinetry and open shelves; they were also placed above and below the floating shelves to highlight decorative pieces. To make this a fully functioning bar, a dishwasher, icemaker, microwave, and full-size refrigerator were included. The end result was a beautiful bar that makes entertaining a joy.

Highlights include a brass sink and light fixtures, coffered ceilings with wide beadboard planks, leathered granite kitchen counters and a way-cool floor made of American chestnut planks from an old barn. Thanks to an abundant use of windows that deliver a grand view of Crooked Lake, the home feels airy and much larger than it is. Bryan and Connie also love how well the layout functions for their family - especially when they are entertaining. The kids' bedrooms are off a large landing at the top of the stairs - roomy enough to double as an entertainment room. When the adults are enjoying cocktail hour or a dinner party downstairs, they can pull a sliding door across the kitchen/great room area to seal it off from the kids' ruckus upstairs (or vice versa!). Be our guest! This new construction dining room was designed as part of an open floor plan, ditching the stuffy, traditional dining stigma and creating an open and artistic statement room for dinner parties to come.

Our client, a hard working single lady, bought this condo knowing that things will need to change. The location was great with a beautiful view into the Nation's Capitol was a winner buy. The main layout of the condo was is but she knew that something will have to go! and that included the original kitchen from 1981 had to go! The closed layout and the laminate cabinets has no place in her vibrate life and passion for cooking. Looking at a few layout in the building, we deiced to take the layout to another direction, testing the limits of condo construction. At the end we managed to create an open and flowing space, connecting the living, dinning room and kitchen as one space. The gray, white with a touch of bling reflects the client's personality creating a space for her to experiment different cooking style, host a dinner party or just chill with a glass on wine.

The option to downsize was not an option for the empty nesters who have lived in this home for over twenty-five years. Situated in TMR, the sprawling home has been the venue for many social events, dinner parties and family celebrations. With grown children living abroad, and grand children on the way, it was important that the new kitchen be highly functional and conducive to hosting informal, yet large family gatherings. The kitchen had been relocated to the garage in the late eighties during a large renovation and was looking tired. Eight foot concrete ceilings meant the new materials and design had to create the illusion of height and light. White lacquered doors and integrated fridge panels extend to the ceiling and cast a bright reflection into the room. The teak dining table and chairs were the only elements to preserve from the old kitchen, and influenced the direction of materials to be incorporated into the new design. The island and selected lower cabinetry are made of butternut and oiled in a matte finish that relates to the teak dining set. Oversized tiles on the heated floors resemble soft concrete. The mandate for the second floor included the overhaul of the master ensuite, to create his and hers closets, and a library. Walls were relocated and the floor plan reconfigured to create a luxurious ensuite of dramatic proportions. A walk-in shower, partitioned toilet area, and 18’ vanity are among many details that add visual interest and comfort. Minimal white oak panels wrap around from the bedroom into the ensuite, and integrate two full-height pocket doors in the same material.
