Control of the interior lighting allows one to set the ambience for listening to musical performances. Each instrument is connected to the Audio Distribution system so everyone may enjoy the performance; no mater where they are in the house. Audio controls allow precise volume adjustments of incoming and outgoing signals. Automatic shades protect the furnishings from sun damage and works with the Smart Thermostat to keep the environment at the right temperature all-year round. Freezing temperature sensors ensure the fireplace automatically ignites just in case the HVAC lost power or broke down. Contact sensors on the windows and door work with the home weather station to determine if windows/doors need to be closed when raining; not to mention the primary use with the security system to detect unwanted intruders.

Stakes used for tomatoes and other heavy crops are attractively stored in a beautiful blue urn, which complements the Soleri tiles embedded in the potting bench. Bamboo hoops are holding back the sugar snap peas.

View the expansive lawn, lined with formal beds and a wall of green for privacy from the bluestone terrace. A break in the New England fieldstone seat wall directs you to the stairway down to the green grass.

Design ideas for a mid-sized contemporary partial sun backyard stone landscaping in San Francisco.

In south Seattle, a tiny backyard garden needed a makeover to add usability and create a sitting area for entertaining. Raised garden beds for edible plants provide the transition between the existing deck and new patio below, eliminating the need for a railing. A firepit provides the focal point for the new patio. A movable concrete firepite was used to create an intimate seating area. The decking connects two bedrooms that face the backyard with the out-building art studio we designed for our clients.

The corners of this renovated pool had large raised plinths in the corners. We lowered the plinths and integrated them with the coping to create the perfect nook for planters.
