Our clients have been waiting 20 years to redo their kitchen. Retirement has its’ perks! As a retired educator, along with her husband, our clients were finally able to focus on this full kitchen remodel. A full gut and removal of outdated, orange, builder-grade cabinets, were replaced and updated. Keeping their layout, they needed more storage. We helped them design a space that eliminated the makeshift furniture that flooded their breakfast area and added additional cabinetry to enhance their dining experience. This included a full run of lower drawer banks and 42” upper cabinets in the eat-in kitchen. Our client values heirlooms and one of the most important functions of her new kitchen had to include storage for an oversized roasting pan that had been handed down in her family. We helped her build oversized custom drawers to accommodate this pan, which meant the world to our clients. We updated their fluorescent lighting to recess in the main kitchen and added pendent lighting over the island. We brought their island up to code by removing the electrical in the bar and adding pop-up outlets and an air switch for their disposal. Through this process we shepherded them through the full design of their kitchen and walked through stone galleries and tile shops to ensure support in their selections. It is important to us that our clients feel supported in the selection process by minimizing decision fatigue. We added storage solutions for pull-out trash, pull-down spice racks, and a Lazy-Susan for that once-dead-corner in their old kitchen. In the end, these clients transformed their drab 90’s kitchen into a dreamy, white-bright culinary showstopper. While stunning and beautiful, it is also functional and practical.

This kitchen was a complete redo including some foundation and framing work to a space that was built before below code.

Tape, float, and texture area as needed. Haul off all debris. > Construct, paint, and install new wall, soft-close cabinets. Install door and drawer pulls. > Construct, paint, and install new island, soft-close cabinets. Install door and drawer pulls. Kitchen Countertops and Tile Backsplash: > Install new quartz countertops Level 3 with standard edge profile and cut out for farm house sink. > Prepare wall surfaces between cabinets for tile backsplash. > Install and grout tile backsplash. Kitchen Plumbing and Appliances Installed: > Install new farm house sink and faucet and connect up plumbing. > Install stove, vent hood, dishwasher, garbage disposal. Kitchen Electrical: > Install 2 pendant lights over bar. Install new switch. > Install 4 new recess LED lights in front of kitchen cabinets. Flooring Installed: > Where flooring was removed prepare concrete surfaces. > Install new Luxury Vinyl Floor in kitchen, eating area, laundry room, living space, foyer, and small hall. > Once flooring is installed, install shoe molding along baseboards. Caulk and fill nail holes. Additions: > Install 24 inch new credenza on cabinet wall. Credenza will have two rows of drawers. > At the end of the island, install new personal desk. > Prime and paint ceiling light over dining table.

This Historical Home was built in the Columbia Country Club in 1925 and was ready for a new, modern kitchen which kept the traditional feel of the home. A previous sunroom addition created a dining room, but the original kitchen layout kept the two rooms divided. The kitchen was a small and cramped c-shape with a narrow door leading into the dining area. The kitchen and dining room were completely opened up, creating a long, galley style, open layout which maximized the space and created a very good flow. Dimensions In Wood worked in conjuction with the client’s architect and contractor to complete this renovation. Custom cabinets were built to use every square inch of the floorplan, with the cabinets extending all the way to the ceiling for the most storage possible. Our woodworkers even created a step stool, staining it to match the kitchen for reaching these high cabinets. The family already had a kitchen table and chairs they were happy with, so we refurbished them to match the kitchen’s new stain and paint color. Crown molding top the cabinet boxes and extends across the ceiling where they create a coffered ceiling, highlighting the beautiful light fixtures centered on a wood medallion. Columns were custom built to provide separation between the different sections of the kitchen, while also providing structural support. Our master craftsmen kept the original 1925 glass cabinet doors, fitted them with modern hardware, repainted and incorporated them into new cabinet boxes. TASK LED Lighting was added to this china cabinet, highlighting the family’s decorative dishes. Appliance Garage On one side of the kitchen we built an appliance garage with doors that slide back into the cabinet, integrated power outlets and door activated lighting. Beside this is a small Galley Workstation for beverage and bar service which has the Galley Bar Kit perfect for sliced limes and more. Baking Cabinet with Pocket Doors On the opposite side, a baking cabinet was built to house a mixer and all the supplies needed for creating confections. Automatic LED lights, triggered by opening the door, create a perfect baker’s workstation. Both pocket doors slide back inside the cabinet for maximum workspace, then close to hide everything, leaving a clean, minimal kitchen devoid of clutter. Super deep, custom drawers feature custom dividers beneath the baking cabinet. Then beneath the appliance garage another deep drawer has custom crafted produce boxes per the customer’s request. Central to the kitchen is a walnut accent island with a granite countertop and a Stainless Steel Galley Workstation and an overhang for seating. Matching bar stools slide out of the way, under the overhang, when not in use. A color matched outlet cover hides power for the island whenever appliances are needed during preparation. The Galley Workstation has several useful attachments like a cutting board, drying rack, colander holder, and more. Integrated into the stone countertops are a drinking water spigot, a soap dispenser, garbage disposal button and the pull out, sprayer integrated faucet. Directly across from the conveniently positioned stainless steel sink is a Bertazzoni Italia stove with 5 burner cooktop. A custom mosaic tile backsplash makes a beautiful focal point. Then, on opposite sides of the stove, columns conceal Rev-a-Shelf pull out towers which are great for storing small items, spices, and more. All outlets on the stone covered walls also sport dual USB outlets for charging mobile devices. Stainless Steel Whirlpool appliances throughout keep a consistent and clean look. The oven has a matching microwave above it which also works as a convection oven. Dual Whirlpool dishwashers can handle all the family’s dirty dishes. The flooring has black, marble tile inlays surrounded by ceramic tile, which are period correct for the age of this home, while still being modern, durable and easy to clean. Finally, just off the kitchen we also remodeled their bar and snack alcove. A small liquor cabinet, with a refrigerator and wine fridge sits opposite a snack bar and wine glass cabinets. This kitchen remodel was for the wonderful Mary & Jeff. This lovely home has a kitchen and dining room in the front of the house, which is lined with windows and looks out over the front yard. The home’s over-al design and layout is great, but it was missing the beautiful kitchen to go with it. After choosing Lowe’s, myself and our GC worked closely with them to ensure their kitchen was perfect. This project included demolition, relocating a wall, re-finishing a bedroom closet, drywall, Shenandoah cabinets, Allen + Roth quartz counter-top, Elida Ceramica backsplash tile, KitchenAid cook-top, LG appliances, Derr unfinished wood flooring, Blanco granite composite sink, Pfister faucet, InSinkErator garbage disposal, receptacles, Utilitech under-cabinet light bars, Halo recessed lighting, and Vaspar Signature paint!

The ultimate design goal was to create a functional open, contemporary kitchen. The design features included the addition of under-cabinet lights, multiple switches for the lights, and all on dimmers, t least one switch for recessed lights, one for under cabinet lights, one for pendant light above the island, etc. It features a farm-style kitchen sink, a sensor faucet that you touch to turn on and off, and a button next to the sink with a smart garbage disposal function. Eternal Statuario Polished Quartz was utilized for the kitchen countertop, while Subway tile was chosen for the kitchen backsplash. As for the floating shelf, a stylish butcher block was added.
