This bright kitchen features gorgeous white UltraCraft cabinetry and natural wood floors. The island countertop is Mont Blanc honed quartzite with a build-up edge treatment. To contrast, the perimeter countertop is Silver Pearl Leathered granite. All of the elements are tied together in the backsplash which features New Calacatta marble subway tile with a beautiful waterjet mosaic insert over the stove.

The intent of this design is to integrate the clients love for Japanese aesthetic, create an open and airy space, and maintain natural elements that evoke a warm inviting environment. A traditional Japanese soaking tub made from Hinoki wood was selected as the focal point of the bathroom. It not only adds visual warmth to the space, but it infuses a cedar aroma into the air. A live-edge wood shelf and custom chiseled wood post are used to frame and define the bathing area. Tile depicting Japanese Shou Sugi Ban (charred wood planks) was chosen as the flooring for the wet areas. A neutral toned tile with fabric texture defines the dry areas in the room. The curb-less shower and floating back lit vanity accentuate the open feel of the space. The organic nature of the handwoven window shade, shoji screen closet doors and antique bathing stool counterbalance the hard surface materials throughout.

This kitchen is a mix of warm and cool white colors, including a Calcutta marble backsplash and Taj Mahal Quartzite countertops. Additionally, a dramatic range hood, double ogee island edge and chandellier pendant lighting give the space an elegant and upscale look.

Inspiration for a large timeless entryway remodel in Charlotte with a black front door

Set on the magnificent Long Island Sound, Field Point Circle has a celebrated history as Greenwich’s premier neighborhood—and is considered one of the 10 most prestigious addresses in the country. The Field Point Circle Association, with 27 estate homes, has a single access point and 24 hour security. The Pryory was designed by the eminent architectural firm Cross & Cross in the spirit of an English countryside estate and is set on 2.4 waterfront acres with a private beach and mooring. Perched on a hilltop, the property’s rolling grounds unfold from the rear terrace down to the pool and rippling water’s edge. Through the ivy-covered front door awaits the paneled grand entry with its soaring three-story carved wooden staircase. The adjacent double living room is bookended by stately fireplaces and flooded with light thanks to the span of windows and French doors out to the terrace and water beyond. Most rooms throughout the home boast water views, including the Great Room, which is cloaked in tiger oak and capped with hexagonal patterned high ceilings. DOWNLOAD NOW   The Klimala’s and their three kids are no strangers to moving, this being their fifth house in the same town over the 20-year period they have lived there. “It must be the 7-year itch, because every seven years, we seem to find ourselves antsy for a new project or a new environment. I think part of it is being a designer, I see my own taste evolve and I want my environment to reflect that. Having easy access to wonderful tradesmen and a knowledge of the process makes it that much easier”. This time, Klimala’s fell in love with a somewhat unlikely candidate. The 1950’s ranch turned cape cod was a bit of a mutt, but it’s location 5 minutes from their design studio and backing up to the high school where their kids can roll out of bed and walk to school, coupled with the charm of its location on a private road and lush landscaping made it an appealing choice for them. “The bones of the house were really charming. It was typical 1,500 square foot ranch that at some point someone added a second floor to. Its sloped roofline and dormered bedrooms gave it some charm.” With the help of architect Maureen McHugh, Klimala’s gutted and reworked the layout to make the house work for them. An open concept kitchen and dining room allows for more frequent casual family dinners and dinner parties that linger. A dingy 3-season room off the back of the original house was insulated, given a vaulted ceiling with skylights and now opens up to the kitchen. This room now houses an 8’ raw edge white oak dining table and functions as an informal dining room. “One of the challenges with these mid-century homes is the 8’ ceilings. I had to have at least one room that had a higher ceiling so that’s how we did it” states Klimala. The kitchen features a 10’ island which houses a 5’0” Galley Sink. The Galley features two faucets, and double tiered rail system to which accessories such as cutting boards and stainless steel bowls can be added for ease of cooking. Across from the large sink is an induction cooktop. “My two teen daughters and I enjoy cooking, and the Galley and induction cooktop make it so easy.” A wall of tall cabinets features a full size refrigerator, freezer, double oven and built in coffeemaker. The area on the opposite end of the kitchen features a pantry with mirrored glass doors and a beverage center below. The rest of the first floor features an entry way, a living room with views to the front yard’s lush landscaping, a family room where the family hangs out to watch TV, a back entry from the garage with a laundry room and mudroom area, one of the home’s four bedrooms and a full bath. There is a double sided fireplace between the family room and living room. The home features pops of color from the living room’s peach grass cloth to purple painted wall in the family room. “I’m definitely a traditionalist at heart but because of the home’s Midcentury roots, I wanted to incorporate some of those elements into the furniture, lighting and accessories which also ended up being really fun. We are not formal people so I wanted a house that my kids would enjoy, have their friends over and feel comfortable.” The second floor houses the master bedroom suite, two of the kids’ bedrooms and a back room nicknamed “the library” because it has turned into a quiet get away area where the girls can study or take a break from the rest of the family. The area was originally unfinished attic, and because the home was short on closet space, this Jack and Jill area off the girls’ bedrooms houses two large walk-in closets and a small sitting area with a makeup vanity. “The girls really wanted to keep the exposed brick of the fireplace that runs up the through the space, so that’s what we did, and I think they feel like they are in their own little loft space in the city when they are up there” says Klimala. These Park Slope based Ash slabs were originally from Suffern, NY where they got evicted for blocking the sun from shining on a solar panel cladded rooftop. Luckily, we were able to find them a new home where they would be appreciated. This American White Ash island countertop is sportin' a healthy dose of clear epoxy, White Oak bowties and live edge for days as a great contrast to its modern surroundings.

This Rimless/Infinity Edge pool/spa combo measures approximately 22’ x 64’ the full-length spa adds another 10’ to the 64’ for a total length of 74’ in this bayside backyard oasis. Black Absolute Granite with eased edging was used for the inside coping and Wenge Stone with a sandblasted finish was used for the outside coping and patio. The interior is finished with a Black Absolute Granite tile band and a French Gray marble dust.

Vienna Addition Skill Construction & Design, LLC, Design/Build a two-story addition to include remodeling the kitchen and connecting to the adjoining rooms, creating a great room for this family of four. After removing the side office and back patio, it was replaced with a great room connected to the newly renovated kitchen with an eating area that doubles as a homework area for the children. There was plenty of space left over for a walk-in pantry, powder room, and office/craft room. The second story design was for an Adult’s Only oasis; this was designed for the parents to have a permitted Staycation. This space includes a Grand Master bedroom with three walk-in closets, and a sitting area, with plenty of room for a king size bed. This room was not been completed until we brought the outdoors in; this was created with the three big picture windows allowing the parents to look out at their Zen Patio. The Master Bathroom includes a double size jet tub, his & her walk-in shower, and his & her double vanity with plenty of storage and two hideaway hampers. The exterior was created to bring a modern craftsman style feel, these rich architectural details are displayed around the windows with simple geometric lines and symmetry throughout. Craftsman style is an extension of its natural surroundings. This addition is a reflection of indigenous wood and stone sturdy, defined structure with clean yet prominent lines and exterior details, while utilizing low-maintenance, high-performance materials. We love the artisan style of intricate details and the use of natural materials of this Vienna, VA addition. We especially loved working with the family to Design & Build a space that meets their family’s needs as they grow.

These Brown Fantasy Leathered quartzite countertops are the star of this kitchen. With sweeping hues of brown, tan, gray, and white, the movement in this natural stone carries your eye throughout the space. The homeowners' installed a complimentary glass tile backsplash which looks fabulous against their white cabinetry. A framed insert of glass and stone mosaic tile above the stove makes a great focal point. They also have a Shaw farmhouse sink which looks out to a gorgeous view of their backyard.

In this Primary bathroom, Siteline frameless cabinets were installed in Keegan Door Style in Painted Accessible finish with vanity cabinet toe kick LED tape lights. The countertop in the bathroom, dressing vanity and mini fridge bar is Concrete Carrara Corian Quartz with double roundover edge. The columns were removed around the tub with a new Chandelier installed over the tub. The custom shower is 12 x 24 Onyx White with Enso 5 x 5 accent tile random mix of Kauri and Suki colors Ivory and Smoke with Ivory round edge pencil tile. The shower floor is Keystones 1 x 2 Urban Putty. Moen Doux collection in Brushed Nickel includes faucets, roman tub faucet, towel bars, robe hooks, toilet tank lever, toilet paper holder. Two Kohler Caxton oval undermount lav sinks in white were installed. In the bedroom a mini refrigerator bar was installed. In the closet, a new countertop and pendant light was installed over the dressing vanity.
