This new 2500 square foot, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in Los Altos, California had been a typical 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom 1970s tract house. The old house was torn down to the studs, ceilings were vaulted, and a 500 square foot addition provided a new bedroom, bathroom, large laundry room, and mudroom. With gourmet appliances, custom cabinetry, and skylights as well as an integrated audio and video system, this home features amenities and fine finishes often found in more luxurious homes. The homeowner selected Eldorado Stone's Mesquite Cliffstone wainscot as a prelude to the quality of materials and workmanship inside. Our client was particularly impressed by the natural look of Eldorado Stone with its variation in colors and stone shapes. This beautiful cultured stone easily harmonized with the natural stone walkway and the interlocking paver driveway. Upon installation, the mason sorted through the stones and reserved the best-looking ones for the front of the home and the more visible of the two chimneys. To emphasize a country look, the stone was installed with wider grout lines than on a typical installation. Finally, a new custom mailbox on the curbside was enveloped with matching Eldorado Stone. This remodeling story is a wonderful example of how removing and shifting walls can have an amazing impact on the functionality and visual appeal of an entire level of a home. When our clients reached out to us, they were looking to create an open concept Kitchen that would allow for easy entertaining. The couple had recently purchased this townhome so his mother could be closer to the family. The existing floorplan offered first floor living, but the Kitchen was tucked in the back and was separated from the rest of the living space by a full wall with a small pass through into the Dining Room. Our design involved removing the dividing wall between the Dining Room and Kitchen as well as the fake columns and beam that separated the Dining Room and Living Room. The entire space was opened up to allow for easy flow and view throughout the first floor living space. The wall shared by the Kitchen and large Master Bedroom was shifted back just enough to provide a full wall of additional cabinetry including a much-needed large double Pantry cabinet. Now that we had opened up the Kitchen area we could focus on the cabinetry layout and selections. The existing wood toned cabinets were replaced with white cabinets and crown molding to match the rest of the home. The larger, open space allowed for more cabinetry and the addition of an island with new undermount sink, dishwasher and convenient trash pullout along with seating for the grandchildren. A new range hood was installed and vented to the exterior of the house to replace the old recirculating hood. We were able to repurpose the some of the existing cabinets for use above the washer and dryer in the adjoining Laundry Room and swapped out the existing swinging door for a pocket door to free up traffic flow when doing Laundry and working in the Kitchen. The slate-look ceramic tile was replaced with a pre-engineered hardwood floor that creates a sense of warmth while easy to clean. The new Cambria countertop compliments the slate-look tile found in the Dining Room and Living Room and a natural field tile backsplash offsets the cabinets beautifully. The single fluorescent ceiling light was outdated and did not provide adequate lighting for the new Kitchen. The new lighting plan was carefully thought out to provide general illumination through well placed recessed lighting; task lighting through pendant lighting over the island and under cabinet lighting; and aesthetic fluidity with an eye-catching chandelier for the Dining Room table. Special details include a touch faucet, under counter microwave and glass front cabinetry for displaying dishes. By removing and shifting walls, we improved the entire flow of the first floor visually as well as functionally and created a beautiful, light-filled space for cooking and entertaining. Grandma can easily prepare meals in her new Kitchen and still chat with her guests and grandchildren who love to sit at the island as well as in the adjoining Dining Room and Living Room. This walk-in tub is a great feature of the master bedroom, and makes use of a corner with a lower ceiling under the roof by stepping down. The entire tub can be filled and easily fits two!

After living with “apartment” furniture for a couple of years, they decided it was time to upgrade and invest in furnishings that were more suited to their taste and lifestyle. Family friendly and comfortable, but still stylish, is what was requested. I achieved that by selecting quality/durable pieces of furniture for the foundation of the room and then decorated with accessories that have a bit of a “glam” factor, which can easily be changed out when they want a new look. I designed a custom wood bar top with steel supports for seating at the kitchen peninsula. Before there was no seating in the kitchen. This helps join the kitchen and family room and provides a spot for the kids to eat and do homework. The fireplace was updated with a new custom wood mantle and matching hearth. I had the walls painted from a yellow to a neutral greige. Custom window coverings include grey silk drapes in the family room and pleated Roman shades in the kitchen. For a bit of added sparkle, I replaced the 2 existing pendants with 2 mini chandeliers over the peninsula. The overall look is family friendly, but stylish with a bit of sparkle. This studio offers an open floor plan configuration along with refurbished hardwood floors. We selected the Henry 2-piece pull-down sleeper sectional with storage from West Elm. It is perfect for small New York City apartments, as it works triple-duty: in addition to its roomy seats and storage space, a handle is added to easily pull it out to reveal a mattress for overnight guests. The hand patched patterned cowhide rug provides an inspired piece of art for the floor.

This was an amazing project to work on with even more amazing clients! This project, in particular, had a strict timeline as we needed to complete it by the upcoming holidays. We opened up the space plan and integrated the kitchen and the living room so that the client could more easily entertain friends and family. We used the back wall as a focal point, selecting a black hood with an interesting backsplash pattern that goes all the way to the ceiling. --- Project designed by Miami interior designer Margarita Bravo. This pretty in pink bathroom was inspired by the artwork. From there the gorgeous shade of pink paint (Resounding Rose) was selected. Fresh and fun accessories were added and the result is a super pretty, Spring inspired bathroom make over. This small space was just perfect for this bold shade of pink. It went from a "bathroom" to a conversation and a "Wow!". A space can easily be transformed by a simple can of pant and fantastic decor. Storage solutions for this small space include a basket on the floor for towels, a tray on the counter for make up and goodies, and a basket on the tank for wash cloths and tissue.

Every member of the family, even the four legged ones, can comfortably enjoy all of the furnishings selected for this project, as they are all easily maintained and cleaned for years of enjoyment. This incredible beach condo is a perfect example of "clean and simple" design style. The cabinets are Wellborn Select series cabinets. The door style is Hancock shaker and the finish is Glacier white. The cabinets are all the same, but each room has it's own personality with countertops and tile. The white and gray finishes are so soft and really allow the wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico to POP-! You can easily focus on the blue-green water and light blue sky. It is easy to relax and unwind at the beach with this soft and exquisite interior!
