The open social kitchen created in this 1950's ranch did more than provide a great space for entertaining, dining, and cooking. It brought a couple together. A lot of times when you have a home previously owned by one that becomes a home for two, the person entering does not have a connection to the place until they can make it their own as a couple. This is exactly what this couple did to transform this house into their home. I had so much fun working with them!

This beautiful white kitchen is bright and timeless. The homeowners did an excellent job of creating an elegant yet casual atmosphere where they can cook and entertain. They were also very practical in their material selection. By choosing Compac Perlino (an engineered quartz stone) countertops, they were able to achieve the look of marble without the maintenance. This countertop is very easy to care for, and it will look brand new for years to come.

Kitchen - mid-sized transitional u-shaped kitchen idea in Chicago with a double-bowl sink, raised-panel cabinets, white cabinets, marble countertops, white backsplash, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island and gray countertops

The kitchen layout was adjusted for better flow, swapping the fridge and range while keeping plumbing in place. A peninsula, finished with paneling for a furniture-like look, offers a gathering space and improves function. Custom cabinetry includes an angled pantry designed to fit against an angled hallway wall. Green tile adds color and personality, while a soapstone-look leathered countertop provides a matte texture and subtle veining that both client and designer loved. Soffits were added to visually anchor the upper cabinets, and a mix of knobs and edge pulls modernize the space.
