In an effort to accommodate family time, as well as provide a highly functional, world-class kitchen we designed an integrated family room and kitchen with enough space for a sizeable breakfast table, a large island with stool seating, and a significant amount of storage and counter space. Before - Once upon a time someone made an effort to spruce up this step area, but alas, the effort fell short.

A full view of this welcoming room in an antique onion barn. The island in the foreground is for wash up and seating. The pine island was adapted from a chest the homeowner inherited. Great efforts were made to make an all-new island look like an old pine chest.

Kitchen/dining room combo - transitional medium tone wood floor and brown floor kitchen/dining room combo idea in Los Angeles with white walls

Located at the front of the house, the kitchen/diner benefits from ample afternoon light. The flat-panel cabinetry features polished materials that reflect light and give the room its modern industrial edge. The elevator toward the back of the space was added in Spring of 2014.
As the center of all daily activity, abundant storage is a must, as are easy-to-clean surfaces. Sticky fingers are bound to rush through the room countless times each day,
and by selecting kid-friendly materials, there is freedom in knowing that all messes can be wiped away at the end of the day.

The simplicity of the white pots on a white background in our living room emphasises the beautiful dark green colours of our plants. We buil this vertical garden ourselves with upcycled wood. The pots are all different because we'd love to go thrift-shopping for pots for our collection of 100+ plants. Credits: instagram.com/houtje.touwtje
