This tiny home is located on a treelined street in the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver. We helped our client create a living and dining space with a beach vibe in this small front room that comfortably accommodates their growing family of four. The starting point for the decor was the client's treasured antique chaise (positioned under the large window) and the scheme grew from there. We employed a few important space saving techniques in this room... One is building seating into a corner that doubles as storage, the other is tucking a footstool, which can double as an extra seat, under the custom wood coffee table. The TV is carefully concealed in the custom millwork above the fireplace. Finally, we personalized this space by designing a family gallery wall that combines family photos and shadow boxes of treasured keepsakes. It is a classic Mediterranean Revival in the Floridian tradition of Mizner.” This single-family residential home in Gables Estates, Coral Gables, Florida, successfully pays respect to the architecture of the Mediterranean and Renaissance Italian styles. From the use of courtyards to the high level of detailing, this project emphasizes the most picturesque and expressive qualities of these styles. The residence reflects the visions of two of Coral Gables’ first architects, who designed beautiful and timeless architecture in this garden city to become a lasting piece in the landscape. This project not only captures the breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay, but with timeless style and lush landscaping, it creates a centerpiece for the view from the bay to Coral Gables. The home is designed as a long gallery, with spaces connected by courtyards and public realms. Another large inspiration for this project was the idea of the garden and landscape. With Coral Gables as a garden city, landscape became an integral part of the conception and design. The durability of Marvin products, their ability to stand up to the South Florida climate, as well as the Marvin attention to detail and proportion, made them the perfect choice to employ in a project of such high standards. The range of products allowed the freedom of design to explore all possibilities and turn visions into reality. The result was a lasting piece of architecture that would reflect a level of detail in every part of its structure. Inspiration for a transitional wooden l-shaped wood railing staircase remodel in Boston with wooden risers

The previous kitchen space was gutted, walls were opened up and a new kitchen design was employed that included custom cabinetry with inset lighting, quartz countertops and full height backsplashes, professional grade appliances & fixtures, hardwood flooring, a separate bar built in, designer pendants over island, and custom window treatments.

Both inside and out, abstract white forms and surfaces are knitted together with linear black elements. In particular, a horizontal mullion is employed as a datum at 8 feet above floor level to provide a reference to human scale. Rion Rizzo Photographer

The porch floor is concrete, with an exposed aggregate finishing technique employed. This method permanently embeds a layer of decorative pebbles on the top of the concrete. It is also a friendly surface for bare feet on the porch.
