When we were first brought onto this project, we saw a beautiful home that sadly felt dark and disconnected despite providing a large area with which to work. We completely changed the floor plan in the main living area, opening up the walls and adding large sliding doors to let in natural light and create a connection to the spacious backyard. The cable railings of the stairway and those of the deck outside were designed to further enhance this sense of openness, providing a tasteful modern accent without impeding the passage of light. Our clients, a couple with four children, wanted to update their 1952 home with a mid-century feel, focusing on the main floor. The renovation emphasized enhancing finishes, optimizing storage, and maximizing seating in the dining and living areas. The entryway was designed to be inviting and practical, while the living room featured a statement sectional and a stunning terrazzo fireplace. The kitchen and dining area were transformed to be both functional and elegant, with playful touches like “Drunk Monkeys” wallpaper in the powder room.

This pool and spa is built in an affluent neighborhood with many new homes that are traditional in design but have modern, clean details. Similar to the homes, this pool takes a traditional pool and gives it a clean, modern twist. The site proved to be perfect for a long lap pool that the client desired with plenty of room for a separate spa. The two bodies of water, though separate, are visually linked together by a custom limestone raised water feature wall with 10 custom Bobe water scuppers. Quality workmanship as required throughout the entire build to ensure the automatic pool cover would remain square the entire 50 foot length of the pool. Designed specifically for a plush pillow top king size mattress and box spring, this bed uses heavy, rough-sawn and weathered lumber. The headboard and footboard both feature 4x4 fir and pine that has been gently sanded to prevent slivers but to retain all the saw marks and imperfections that gives this lumber so much beauty and character. Steel accents have been added to this magnificent piece. The steel was cleaned up by roughly grinding off mill scale leaving an almost brushed finish but with a rustic look.The natural beauty of the wood is enhanced and protected with the use of Danish oil which accents the grain and imperfections.
