Inspiration for a large backyard stone patio remodel with a fire pit and no cover

This remodel of a mid century modern Ranch style home entailed removing walls to open up the kitchen to the rest of the house, moving the garage door to make room for a mudroom bench, and all new cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, appliances and flooring and millwork throughout the main level. We also upgraded all doors and windows.

A striking island occupies the center of a spacious kitchen in Bloomfield Hills. The HPL backed real wood veneer in Ebony Sabbiata from Tree Frog bridges the tonal distance between the walnut floors and all white cabinets and walls, creating harmony and visual balance. Full height backsplashes in shiny white are laid out in a windmill pattern, punctuated every so often with intricately designed accent squares. A combination of bold veining and delicate blooming on the Calacatta quartzite countertops contributes its subtle energy to the mix. The kitchen is separated into several independent vignettes, each one laid out symmetrically. The vast island with built in sink offers all the prep space a chef could need. The built in cooktop is centered directly behind to facilitate easy cooking, while an additional sink in the clean up area expedites after dinner chores. A walk-pantry and small home office are tucked in behind the refrigerator freezer wall. Multiple lighting details, including lighted cabinet interiors and a lighted display niche above the refrigerator, complete this stunning 2015 lake home.

The project encompassed design and build of the front and rear areas of the property as well as the building stone of the home. The project entailed front and rear hardscape, landscape, lighting, drainage, and irrigation. The design was very challenging due to the size of the home and the overall space constraints of the lot and topography. The project was situated with a very severe slope in the rear yard with limited space as shown in the water feature area finished photography. Zieba Builders opened up and reconfigured the space by removing the peninsula and its upper cabinets. This entailed the redistribution of a structural load from the second level to a new recessed beam.

THIS PROJECT ENTAILED THE RECONSTRUCTION, AND AN ADDITION, OF AN EXISTING THREE STORY HOME WITH A BASEMENT. THE PROJECT CALLED FOR THE MAJOR DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING INTERIOR STRUCTURE AND SYSTEMS. COMPLETE INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES WERE PROVIDED FOR THE ENTIRE HOME, INCLUDING SPACE PLANNING, COLOR SCHEMES, FINISHES, ARTWORK, AND THE SELECTION OF FURNISHINGS. THE EXTERIOR WAS REPLACED WITH STUCCO. ALL OF THE SURROUNDING EXTERIOR SPACES WERE LANDSCAPED. THE LANDSCAPE DESIGN FOR THE BACK YARD INCLUDED A WATER FOUNTAIN, URN, AND A CUSTOM BUILD PERGOLA. PINE TREES WERE PLACED FOR A NATURAL AND TRANQUIL FORM OF PRIVACY.
