The creamy fabric of the modern chair pops against the dark colors in this project. The highly coveted Chandra luxury chair design is both bold and modern, and the neutral upholstery balances with the polished brass bands and legs. The Chandra sits in front of the exotic Temptation luxury console whose alluring top is impeccably wrapped in sumptuous metallic python embossed lamb skin. Above is the iconic Guilt wall mirror whose textured and hammered brass explodes from the convex mirror center like a magnificent sunburst. Glittering from the corner is the Gia pendant lamp, a single calla lily bloom delicately suspended from the ceiling.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Murals in a bedroom by Tom Taylor of Mural Art LLC. The theme for the room was to create the bridge of a star destroyer from Star Wars. Being a huge Star Wars fan myself, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to create this room. Star Wars themed rooms have been very popular, especially with the new series of movies that Disney has produced. Star Wars art is perfect for any themed room, media room, home theater, office or your children's bedroom. Items featured throughout the room to complete the look: Exploding Death Star Chandelier, bunk bed, Star Wars comforter set, throw pillows, drapes, room darkening shades, table lamps, Star Wars toys and hand painted kids furniture.

It sparkles, it shimmers, it glitters, its glass. Glass mosaics are everywhere, from gorgeous kitchen backsplashes like this one, to color baths and reflective fireplaces. But as beautiful as this backsplash is, it’s only the beginning of this great kitchen. Our kitchen begins with a little bump, a simple little peninsula with room for one. Upon the deep dark espresso cabinets sits the contrasting countertop. The super glossy white stone with subtle swirls reflects the colors of the glass mosaics. We gave the peninsula a little overhang and pulled up an enticing contemporary stool. Although the kitchen space is fairly large, two walls contained openings to other spaces, while a third contained a large and sunny bay window. Rather than bottle neck our traffic flow, we chose to make the most of the walls we had. We started with a deep undermount stainless steel sink with a far-reaching faucet with pull out spray. Beside this, we placed our contemporary stainless steel dishwasher. To keep the feeling open and airy we installed dark floating shelves, which really pop against our multicolored glass backsplash. We added lighting under the bottom shelf for extra sparkle, as well as the perfect task lighting. We needed some wall cabinets, not just for storage but to compliment our microwave. Above the stainless steel stove our matching microwave serves multipurpose, from cooking, to venting, to task lighting the stove. When space counts, make the most of it. We nestled our stove beside the dishwasher, giving ourselves room for a landing zone at the end. The cooking area feels even more spacious set next to our large bay window. To give us the greatest amount of storage, we added a floor to ceiling pantry. Although it is only 12″ deep, it’s 48″ wide. The clean “slab” style door create an uncluttered look that compliments the patterning of the floor. We used 6″ x 24″ porcelain wood look flooring. This flooring exploded on the market not too long ago, giving you the look of hardwoods, without fear of water, dents and scratches. The floor will never need to be refinished, no matter how much abuse it takes. Look at all that storage. There’s even room on the bottom for that huge mixer we all seem to have. The pantry gives us plenty of room for all we need to store and it’s 12″ depth means it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. No more pulling out half your stored items just to find that product in the very back. We round out this fabulous kitchen with a full-sized, bottom freezer, French door refrigerator. Espresso panels encase the sides while a deep and tall upper cabinet gives us room to store some more. By placing the refrigerator between the two entrances to the kitchen, family and friends can get a beverage without getting in the cook’s way. To direct our lighting around the room and focus on specific areas, we used a long track of spot lights with a contemporary look. This two-toned kitchen was designed by Paula Greer, CKD of Bilotta Kitchens with Robin Zahn of Robin Prince Zahn Architecture. The u-shaped space has perimeter cabinets in Bilotta’s own line, the Bilotta Collection in a custom gray paint. The island is Wood-Mode Cabinetry in cherry with a stain. Countertops are Caesarstone’s London Grey with a built-in walnut cutting board on one corner of the island from Brooks Custom. The custom Madison Hood by Rangecraft is in a Dark Antique Steel finish and extends up accentuating the high ceiling above the cooking triangle. Two of the most interesting elements of this space are the banquette area and the coffered ceilings. By far, the most frequent installation of banquettes is tucking them into a corner of the room, regardless of how much seating is available at the island. In this kitchen, the island provides enough space for four to five stools. But because the space is separated from the rest of the house, the client wanted to ensure there was sufficient seating for their frequent entertaining. Also, the house is situated in a secluded wooded area; the new kitchen includes an abundance of unobstructed windows to fully experience the beautiful outdoor surroundings. The corner banquette (under more windows!) makes it feel like you’re dining in the trees. The bonus feature is that there’s extra storage below for table linens or seldom-used serving pieces. This really functions like a couch, complete with throw pillows and a TV, where the empty-nesters love spending time even when it isn’t mealtime. As for the ceiling, coffers don’t necessarily have to be large and intricately detailed with layers of moldings in order to be effective. This kitchen features two different ceiling heights: a small section of an addition contains a vaulted ceiling, while the larger island and eating area are tucked under a 2nd floor balcony and bedrooms. The client wanted to distinguish the lower area from the vaulted section, but in a subtle manner. The architect chose to implement shallow coffers with minimal trim for a softer result. The geometric pattern also reflects the floor tile and other lines within the room. The most interesting aspect, though, is that the vaulted area is actually concealed from view when you’re standing in the breakfast area; but as you approach the sink and window, the ceiling explodes above you for a visual surprise. And lastly, of course during this time of “work from home” the desk tucked in a nook opposite the banquette creates the perfect space for Zoom meetings, email checking and just the day-to-day activities we used to go into the office to do. Sited on a wooded parcel of land along Florida’s southwest Gulf coast, the home is designed to maintain the delicate balance between a fragile wetlands ecosystem where land meets water. Three grandfather oak trees, each measuring over 40 inches in diameter, serve as silent landmarks in this subtropical paradise. The house describes the balance between the natural and man-made environments. The principal gathering spaces are defined by series of walls that splay apart, like a fanned deck of cards, giving an unfolding view of the landmark trees on the site. Overhead, the raked roof plane reinforces direction, emphasis, and explodes interior rooms to the exterior living spaces.

A celebrated actor couple’s relaxing Hudson Valley retreat stands at the highpoint of a spectacular east-facing slope. The house boasts sweeping views of the Berkshires and surrounding hills and fields. Nestled amongst 14 acres of managed meadows and mature, mixed woodland, the garden’s rustic hardscaping, sitting walls, steps and paths, spirals, terracing and benches are constructed from rough hewn slabs of local New York fieldstone and granite reclaimed from the site excavation. Durable swaths of deer resistant native plants explode with color throughout the season. Simple, yet thoughtful detailing sets the tone for a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere, where pollinators can thrive and creative minds can be set free.

The intoxicating scent of David Austin English roses explodes in June and continues through the summer at the retail stores and condominiums that occupy the historic ‘Prince on Newbury’ street building. A lucky passerby will leave with a fragrant bouquet in hand when Garden Mates is trimming the roses! Soft as clouds, endless summer hydrangeas line the walkways enticing shoppers to stay and browse the shops. On the rooftop deck, colorful potted annuals with envious, bold colors, mock the threatening skies and the Boston skyline.

Coral stone pool area. The house next door was being built and in the process of the concrete pumping the hose exploded sending concrete EVERYWHERE! The entire coral stone deck was covered like this in concrete.

It is a great opportunity to create a home in Saint Louis, using design criteria, sensitivities and materials associated with the Northwest. Our clients, a world traveled couple whose second home is in Montana, commissioned us to do just that. Over six tons of stone were brought in from Montana to complement the hand built wooden trusses and rough-hewn lumber sourced locally. Having lived in Europe for many years, the couple is sophisticated with specific objectives. The beautiful millwork in the interior and exterior spaces reflects their taste. The gathering room has a vaulted ceiling but is not cavernous due to the dark elements created by the lumber and color selections. The wagon wheel light fixture is a focal point in the room, along with the Montanan stone floor to ceiling fireplace which mirrors the one outdoors. The millwork frames the room and provides the home with its lovely natural, rustic ambience which plays well with lighting and outdoor living spaces. The front façade is closed to the street, but the back explodes, with a wall of doors that open to the outdoor living and landscaping. Outdoor living space includes fabulous millwork, a beautiful stone fireplace which complements the interior fireplace, seating areas, a dining table and a full kitchen. The outdoor kitchen includes a grill, oven, storage, an icemaker and a refrigerator. The lower level is inviting with its millwork, it’s full bar and a home theatre. Again the timber frames the bar area and the rustic feel is defined by the millwork and the Montana stone. The ceiling is tongue in groove with decorative trusses that include peg details and corbels. Decorative outdoor lanterns add to the ambience. Log storage integrated into the main feature, the fireplace. Attention to detail include unusual millwork and lanterns.
