We designed this lovely, private dining area with custom wood-slat screens and a concrete kitchen complete with seating, grilling, counters and wood storage. Climbing hydrangea vines are being trained to extend over the custom window arbor.

This space was completely empty, void of everything except the flooring tiles. All the containers and plantings, the patterned turf in the flooring, ornaments, and fixtures were part of the design. It spans three sides of the penthouse, extending the dining and living space out into the open.
Outdoor rooms are created with the alignment of fixtures and placement of furniture. The custom designed water feature is both a wall to separate the dining and living spaces and a work of art on its own. A shade system offers relief from the scorching sun without permanently blocking the view from the dining room. A frosted glass wall on the edge of the kitchen brings privacy and still allows light to filter into the space. The south wall is lined with planters to add some privacy and at night are lit as a focal point.

The kitchen is the main eye-catcher in this great room, with natural stone countertops and Miele appliances in stainless steel. The countertop is black quartz that stretches across the length of the entire wall. The island in the middle has double usage; it's a cooking and breakfast island, and the cookery area has both a gas stove and an electric plate cooker. A kitchen hood and pendant lights hang from the ceiling above.
Anyone cooking here can enjoy the views outside while interacting and socializing with the people in the room.
The sliding glass wall of this great room opens entirely, extending the living area outdoors onto the deck. The extended dining table is perfect for entertaining or enjoying a large meal with family and friends.

This rustic meets shabby chic dining room was designed for clients in Woodbridge. VA who wanted their home to feel like a bed and breakfast somewhere in Sonoma County. They wanted a soft, rustic feel to their space. We started with the venetian plaster finish in the tray ceiling for texture and warmth. We then gave the walls a soft greenish gold tone. We added the beautiful Aidan Gray chandelier over a large rustic Arhaus dining table and chairs. The parsons style end chairs were a treasure hunt find by the client, as were the chair covers. We added a banding in an olive linen to the bottom to give them a custom feel. The custom buffet is by Guildmaster in their antique white finish. The uniquely designed custom draperies are in a Thibaut printed linen. Photography by Tinius Photography
