This perspective highlights the seamless integration of a high-end culinary workspace within a classic Craftsman aesthetic. The expansive kitchen island, featuring a granite countertop with a built-in range, serves as the centerpiece of the room, perfectly positioned under a custom-framed art glass chandelier. This architectural light fixture acts as a jewelry piece for the kitchen, echoing the geometric precision found in traditional Mission-style design while casting a warm, ambient glow across the entire space.
The view showcases the impressive depth of the custom-stained cabinetry, which extends to the ceiling with elegant crown molding. To the right, professional-grade stainless steel appliances, including double wall ovens, are sleekly integrated into the woodwork, offering a modern contrast to the rustic textures of the red brick backsplash and hexagonal tiled flooring. The inclusion of a light sage green pantry door adds a subtle pop of color, softening the rich wood tones and bringing a fresh, nature-inspired element to the palette.
Every architectural choice, from the recessed lighting to the thoughtfully placed casement window over the sink, emphasizes a balance of practicality and style. The layout is designed for effortless flow, providing ample prep space on the island while keeping essential tools and high-performance appliances within easy reach. This kitchen successfully creates a sophisticated yet homey environment that is ideal for both quiet family meals and large-scale entertaining.

This small addition and kitchen remodel reimagines a classic St. Paul home for a growing family—prioritizing natural light, smart function, and modern warmth.
A modest side-yard addition creates space for a mudroom and ¾ bath, carefully positioned to preserve the dining room’s original piano windows. New windows throughout balance light, privacy, and flow.
Inside, custom bleached butternut cabinets and a curved enameled tambour island bring warmth and sculptural contrast. Heated porcelain tile floors extend to a new deck, blending indoors and out. The exterior pairs vertical cedar with dark cement board for a subtle, modern update.
Small in size, big in intention—this project honors the past while supporting the way this family lives now

This was a fast-track design-build project which began design in July and ended construction before Christmas. The scope included additions and first and second floor renovations. The house is an early 1900’s gambrel style with painted wood shingle siding and mission style detailing. On the first and second floor we removed previously constructed awkward additions and extended the gambrel style roof to make room for a large kitchen on the first floor and a master bathroom and bedroom on the second floor. We also added two new dormers to match the existing dormers to bring light into the master shower and new bedroom. We refinished the wood floors, repainted all of the walls and trim, added new vintage style light fixtures, and created a new half and kid’s bath. We also added new millwork features to continue the existing level of detail and texture within the house. A wrap-around covered porch with a corner trellis was also added, which provides a perfect opportunity to enjoy the back-yard. A wonderful project!

Reimagined as a quiet retreat on a mixed-use Mission block, this former munitions depot was transformed into a single-family residence by reworking existing forms. A bunker-like concrete structure was cut in half to form a covered patio that opens onto a new central courtyard. The residence behind was remodeled around a large central kitchen, with a combination skylight/hatch providing ample light and roof access. The multiple structures are tied together by untreated cedar siding, intended to gradually fade to grey to match the existing concrete and corrugated steel.
