The integration of the work space, clubhouse and family entertainment area creates an environment that brings the whole family together in projects, recreation and relaxation. Each element works harmoniously together blending the creative and functional into the perfect family escape. FOCUS The two-story clubhouse is the focal point of the large space and physically separates but blends the two distinct rooms. The clubhouse has an upper level loft overlooking the main room and a lower enclosed space with windows looking out into the playroom and work room. There was a financial focus for this creative space and the use of many Ikea products helped to keep the fabrication and build costs within budget. STORAGE Storage is abundant for this family on the walls, in the cabinets and even in the floor. The massive built in cabinets are home to the television and gaming consoles and the custom designed peg walls create additional shelving that can be continually transformed to accommodate new or shifting passions. The raised floor is the base for the clubhouse and fort but when pulled up, the flush mounted floor pieces reveal large open storage perfect for toys to be brushed into hiding. GROWTH The entire space is designed to be fun and you never outgrow fun. The clubhouse and loft will be a focus for these boys for years and the media area will draw the family to this space whether they are watching their favorite animated movie or newest adventure series. The adjoining workroom provides the perfect arts and crafts area with moving storage table and will be well suited for homework and science fair projects. In this remodel, we gutted the previous fixtures, opened a wall (where the shower currently stands) to make room for a stand alone shower and a soaking tub. We opted for neutral colors in the tile so that we could go with a little bolder wall color. The marble hex floor tile and Cambria quartz tub surround offer texture against the white subway tile. We recently completed three distinct bathroom renovation projects, all located in the same home. Each bathroom — a master, a children’s Jack & Jill bath, and a family/guest bath — was gutted and fully remodeled. We worked on the project with architect Michael Szalaji of Cambridge-based On the Boards Design. The Jack & Jill bath was one of two that needed to be expanded. We annexed an adjacent closet to provide extra square footage. This allowed for the comfortable introduction of a shower stall with a glass Dreamliner door and for the installation of a tall, semi-custom hamper cabinet. The cabinet and vanity were each fitted with Caesarstone countertop. The master bathroom also received an upgrade, with a new shower stall, baseboard and crown molding. The shower features decorative 5” Ogee Drop Tile and an accent border in Natural Stone Pencil. The custom shower door, by Prestige Glass, includes a translucent privacy band etched across the center of the glass. For comfort on cold mornings, radiant heating was installed. On the third floor, adjacent to the family room, a third bath was remodeled. Like the children’s bath, the footprint for this room was also expanded by annexing closet space. We added a shower stall here too, and this one features built-in bench seating. Window glass in the bathroom window was replaced with tempered, frosted glass for safety and privacy. Inspiration for a contemporary staircase remodel in Santa Barbara

The primary bath features a custom double vanity centered with a seated make-up area. Quartz counters and oversized porcelain floor tile provide easy maintenance. Robern medicine cabinets add extra storage for essentials. The vanity has both drawers and doors for gobs of storage. Vintage sconces, original to the house were re-wired and LED linear sconces above the medicine cabinets provide a blending of vintage and new.

An updated master bathroom in a vintage 1900 cottage. The plinth based freestanding tub gives an original vintage feel to the room and the modern glassed-in shower adds 21st century amenities with a corner bench, rain shower head, hand held sprayer, and matching decorative grab bars providing safety features. Although the tile looks like marble it is actually easy care porcelain. Cabinetry and beaded wainscoting was designed to look original to the period and all moldings were matched to the homes original. A great update was given to this hall bathroom. With their grand child in mind, the standard tub was replaced with a whirlpool tub for extra bubbles! A hand held shower and grab bars were also added for universal needs of any person who should plan to use the guest bathroom. The vanity and countertop remained the same, but a new faucet, mirror, and light fixture were added to compliment the new design, tile, fixtures, and paint colors.

These homeowners approached Renovisions to remodel their master bath. With their kids off at college it was time to do something for themselves. They wanted an elegant upscale look with a spacious shower with glass enclosure, a high-end whirlpool bathtub and custom built in for towels. Their existing tub presented a safety issue when they opened & closed the windows which were located directly behind the tub. The new design includes a free standing tub/whirlpool with custom rounded and removable wood panels to access electrical and plumbing components. This allows a safe pass way around the tub as well as a more open feel. The adjacent shower boasts a generous space with an open style created by the use of 3/8” shower glass enclosure on 2 sides. Custom cubbies and corner seat were built into the Crema marfil marble tiles. 12″x24″ porcelain tiles were installed in a herringbone pattern providing a beautiful and unique appearance setting a neutral stage to showcase the burgundy cherry custom vanities with beaded detail and matching tower with Victorian glass. Crema Marfil marble countertops on the vanities and slab on tub featured ogee edges lending a real elegant feel to the room. The Piece de Resistance was the exquisite antique brass widespread faucets, hand held shower, shower head, matching antique brass accessories and cabinet hardware all decorated with Swarovski cut crystals.

Covid During Construction and Making Face Masks Dear Houzz Folks, We've started getting back to work and are educating everyone at our projects on how to be safe during COVID, posting signage, and we've been making masks for our employees, colleagues, friends, family etc... Here's some information on what I've learned so far in sewing the best fitting face mask for COVID. 1. Put in a wire at the nose bridge (about 3.5 inches) - it helps with fit and if you wear glasses, it keeps them from fogging up. I found that doorbell wire, available at the hardware store, seems to work well. It isn't too thin or too fat, bends easily and holds its shape. I attach it by using a zigzag stitch on the interior seam of the outside of the mask (so there's a bit more cushion on the inside). 2. For the shaped masks, I make a pocket in case my friends, family, colleagues, want to insert a filter - it also allows for three layers of fabric in the breathing area and less bulk where the ties go. For patterns that don't offer pockets, I just make my own pattern pocket. I also first baste the two inside pieces first and then sew the front on. This way, there's no worries about slipping. No pins are needed and no pins minimizes the number of extra air holes in the fabric. 3. So that the ties/loops can be replaced or modified, I make a channel for rather than sewing it in permanently. Many videos show using a safety pin to pull the elastic through. If you sew much, you might have a bodkin in your sewing box, but it might be a bit too wide. Instead, I use a long hairpin (you could probably make a long loop with a paper clip). I run the hairpin through the channel, loop the elastic through the end of the pin and pull through. That takes much less time than piercing it with a safety-pin. 4. For the inside of the masks, it is nice to have softer fabric inside, so high-thread-count sheets purchased on sale work great. Then you can easily tell what is inside as well. 5. For surgical-style masks, there's a pattern with a pocket on the inside and a wire. I like the ideas in this video but use 2 fabrics and make them bigger. About a 9x9 inch for the outside and 9x8 inch for the inside. 5/8 seam on the nose and 1/4 seam on the bottom. 6. For the fitted masks, there are two patterns that I like. There are still some other patterns I have left to try! 6. After breaking lots of needles, I realized that I really didn't need to topstich the fitted masks over the bridge, so I just started skipping the bridge. 7. If you're going to wear a face-covering for a really long time, you might want to skip the ear hangers and go for ties behind the head.
