We crafted this spacious two-story home in Flowery Branch, GA, featuring an attractive exterior with a mix of stone, brick, and siding. The outer facade boasts board and batten shutters, along with a stylish metal roof accentuating the extended front porch. The porch itself is adorned with flagstone flooring and a wood inlaid ceiling. Upon entering, you're welcomed by an elegant two-story foyer showcasing a curved open banister handrail leading to the upper floor. The open-concept floor plan seamlessly extends from the front to the back, where the dining room meets the family room. Hardwood floors grace the entire living space, and the family room is highlighted by a large stone fireplace and a curved set of windows overlooking the outdoor living area. The expansive kitchen and dining areas were thoughtfully designed with plenty of custom cabinets and countertop space, featuring brushed stainless steel appliances. Additionally, a secondary kitchen is included for food preparation. The delightful master bedroom boasts hardwood flooring and a spacious tray ceiling. The extensive master bath offers a soaking tub, a separate walk-in shower, and his and hers vanities. Notably, the home includes two master suites. Convenience is key with two laundry facilities located in different areas within the home. A bonus room with a kitchenette adds flexibility to the living space. This project was such an incredible design opportunity, and instilled inspiration and excitement at every turn! Our amazing clients came to us with the challenge of converting their beloved family home into a welcoming haven for all members of the family. At the time that we met our clients, they were struggling with the difficult personal decision of the fate of the home. Their father/father-in-law had passed away and their mother/mother-in-law had recently been admitted into a nursing facility and was fighting Alzheimer’s. Resistant to loss of the home now that both parents were out of it, our clients purchased the home to keep in in the family. Despite their permanent home currently being in New Jersey, these clients dedicated themselves to keeping and revitalizing the house. We were moved by the story and became immediately passionate about bringing this dream to life. The home was built by the parents of our clients and was only ever owned by them, making this a truly special space to the family. Our goal was to revitalize the home and to bring new energy into every room without losing the special characteristics that were original to the home when it was built. In this way, we were able to develop a house that maintains its own unique personality while offering a space of welcoming neutrality for all members of the family to enjoy over time. The renovation touched every part of the home: the exterior, foyer, kitchen, living room, sun room, garage, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, the laundry room, and everything in between. The focus was to develop a style that carried consistently from space to space, but allowed for unique expression in the small details in every room. Starting at the entry, we renovated the front door and entry point to offer more presence and to bring more of the mid-century vibe to the home’s exterior. We integrated a new modern front door, cedar shingle accents, new exterior paint, and gorgeous contemporary house numbers that really allow the home to stand out. Just inside the entry, we renovated the foyer to create a playful entry point worthy of attention. Cement look tile adorns the foyer floor, and we’ve added new lighting and upgraded the entry coat storage. Upon entering the home, one will immediately be captivated by the stunning kitchen just off the entry. We transformed this space in just about every way. While the footprint of the home ultimately remained almost identical, the aesthetics were completely turned on their head. We re-worked the kitchen to maximize storage and to create an informal dining area that is great for casual hosting or morning coffee. We removed the entry to the garage that was once in the informal dining, and created a peninsula in its place that offers a unique division between the kitchen/informal dining and the formal dining and living areas. The simple light warm light gray cabinetry offers a bit of traditional elegance, along with the marble backsplash and quartz countertops. We extended the original wood flooring into the kitchen and stained all floors to match for a warmth that truly resonates through all spaces. We upgraded appliances, added lighting everywhere, and finished the space with some gorgeous mid century furniture pieces. In the formal dining and living room, we really focused on maintaining the original marble fireplace as a focal point. We cleaned the marble, repaired the mortar, and refinished the original fireplace screen to give a new sleek look in black. We then integrated a new gas insert for modern heating and painted the upper portion in a rich navy blue; an accent that is carried through the home consistently as a nod to our client’s love of the color. The former entry into the old covered porch is now an elegant glass door leading to a stunning finished sunroom. This room was completely upgraded as well. We wrapped the entire space in cozy white shiplap to keep a casual feel with brightness. We tiled the floor with large format concrete look tile, and painted the old brick fireplace a bright white. We installed a new gas burning unit, and integrated transitional style lighting to bring warmth and elegance into the space. The new black-frame windows are adorned with decorative shades that feature hand-sketched bird prints, and we’ve created a dedicated garden-ware “nook” for our client who loves to work in the yard. The far end of this space is completed with two oversized chaise loungers and overhead lights…the most perfect little reading nook! Just off the dining room, we created an entirely new space to the home: a mudroom. The clients lacked this space and desperately needed a landing spot upon entering the home from the garage. We uniquely planned existing space in the garage to utilize for this purpose, and were able to create a small but functional entry point without losing the ability to park cars in the garage. This new space features cement-look tile, gorgeous deep brown cabinetry, and plenty of storage for all the small items one might need to store while moving in and out of the home. The remainder of the upstairs level includes massive renovations to the guest hall bathroom and guest bedroom, upstairs master bed/bath suite, and a third bedroom that we converted into a home office for the client. Some of the largest transformations were made in the basement, where unfinished space and lack of light were converted into gloriously lit, cozy, finished spaces. Our first task was to convert the massive basement living room into the new master bedroom for our clients. We removed existing built-ins, created an entirely new walk-in closet, painted the old brick fireplace, installed a new gas unit, added carpet, introduced new lighting, replaced windows, and upgraded every part of the aesthetic appearance. One of the most incredible features of this space is the custom double sliding barn door made by a Denver artisan. This space is truly a retreat for our clients! We also completely transformed the laundry room, back storage room, basement master bathroom, and two bedrooms. This home’s massive scope and ever-evolving challenges were thrilling and exciting to work with, and the result is absolutely amazing. At the end of the day, this home offers a look and feel that the clients love. Above all, though, the clients feel the spirit of their family home and have a welcoming environment for all members of the family to enjoy for years to come.

Design ideas for a large modern full sun rooftop formal garden in Miami.

This exclusive guest home features excellent and easy to use technology throughout. The idea and purpose of this guesthouse is to host multiple charity events, sporting event parties, and family gatherings. The roughly 90-acre site has impressive views and is a one of a kind property in Colorado. The project features incredible sounding audio and 4k video distributed throughout (inside and outside). There is centralized lighting control both indoors and outdoors, an enterprise Wi-Fi network, HD surveillance, and a state of the art Crestron control system utilizing iPads and in-wall touch panels. Some of the special features of the facility is a powerful and sophisticated QSC Line Array audio system in the Great Hall, Sony and Crestron 4k Video throughout, a large outdoor audio system featuring in ground hidden subwoofers by Sonance surrounding the pool, and smart LED lighting inside the gorgeous infinity pool. Fatti+inlà (Move over a bit!) is a creation by Andrea Grattaroli of Studio Kuadra and is an example of his fertile creativity. The design represents an imaginary row of birds on the ledge of a building. One of the birds, the cuckoo, pushes its way out of its house taking its place in the row. The inspiring concept is quite simple but the final result is very elegant. This clock can be hung on a wall or placed on a surface. The twenty-two wooden birds are all handmade and are aligned on two perfectly balanced wooden blocks. The twenty-third bird chirps every hour moving forward and bowing. Two very fine hands tell the time. The clock comes in two versions: black with white hands or white with black hands. It is made of wood and is varnished with non-toxic paint. The back of the clock is in metal which facilities hanging and gives a stylish finish to the whole item. The battery run cuckoo mechanism has a photosensitive sensor that automatically turns off the cuckoo sound in the absence of light. It also has a switch to regulate the volume of the cuckoo sound or to switch it off completely.

2011 NATIONAL NARI COTY SOUTHEAST REGIONAL AWARD This family of four living in a 1987 brick colonial had to make dramatic changes now that their 85 years old grandmother was about to move in. They needed a mother-in-law suite complete with bathroom facilities to meet her needs. Because they were remodeling anyway, they decided to overhaul the rest of the home to create the house they have always dreamed about, including a grand two-story entry. Starting in the basement, the homeowner added a home theatre room, added storage and a larger bathroom. Hard wood floors and a new stairway were also added. The main level boasts the new two-story entry foyer. To its left is the mother-in-law suite with a large front bay window and its own walk-in closet and private bath. The bath is furnished with a walk-in jetted tub and aging-in-place accessories. Other first floor highlights include a music room and gourmet kitchen. Kitchen amenities the client always wanted were added, including a large center island, extended cabinets, double layered crown molding, exotic granite top and wide board mahogany floors throughout entire first floor. The entire second floor and stairs going up were reconfigured too. The master bedroom is larger with a new tray ceiling and recess lights. The new walk- in closet is now adjacent to the master bath instead of being across the room. The master bathroom was totally gutted and re-positioned. It includes an enlarged shower with bench and frameless shower door, toilet hidden behind a closet and new whirlpool surround with beautiful travertine tile and long double vanity space. This new renovation is truly a testament to the possibilities of aging-in-place remodeling strategies. Three generations are now living comfortably in this home.

We added a full-length window and windows in the door and kitchen to allow a lot of natural light to enter the space. Recessed lighting was also added.

This three-story mono-beam wraps around a full glass elevator, and what looks effortless required precision engineering. White oak treads and railing warm up the glass and metal, and the open design draws natural light through all three levels. The metalwork and elevator were powder coated at the same facility to ensure a perfect match, so the two read as one. Bills sister in law originally called me to enquire about helping Bill move out of his large house of 40 plus years and downsize to an assisted retirement facility. Bill had Parkinson's and was now alone. Everything needed to be weighted or fastened down and no accessible glass or sharp edges could be used. Parkinson's, especially when it progresses causes one to grab onto thing to help steady oneself. Obviously minimall Decor and as we get older, lots of light and large print, as in the wall clock become necessities. Working with Bill was a lot of fun actually, I learned he loved modern clean lines, bold pattern, and boats, the ocean and skiing. It was a complete clean slate to start from. Almost nothing from his old House, with the exception of clothes and photos were coming to his knew forever home. Bill and I stay in touch. I learned a lot and gained a friend for life.
