Luxurious modern take on a traditional white Italian villa. An entry with a silver domed ceiling, painted moldings in patterns on the walls and mosaic marble flooring create a luxe foyer. Into the formal living room, cool polished Crema Marfil marble tiles contrast with honed carved limestone fireplaces throughout the home, including the outdoor loggia. Ceilings are coffered with white painted crown moldings and beams, or planked, and the dining room has a mirrored ceiling. Bathrooms are white marble tiles and counters, with dark rich wood stains or white painted. The hallway leading into the master bedroom is designed with barrel vaulted ceilings and arched paneled wood stained doors. The master bath and vestibule floor is covered with a carpet of patterned mosaic marbles, and the interior doors to the large walk in master closets are made with leaded glass to let in the light. The master bedroom has dark walnut planked flooring, and a white painted fireplace surround with a white marble hearth. The kitchen features white marbles and white ceramic tile backsplash, white painted cabinetry and a dark stained island with carved molding legs. Next to the kitchen, the bar in the family room has terra cotta colored marble on the backsplash and counter over dark walnut cabinets. The Goody Nook, named by the owners in honor of one of their Great Grandmother's and Great Aunts after their bake shop they ran in Ohio to sell baked goods, thought it fitting since this space is a place to enjoy all things that bring them joy and happiness. This studio, which functions as an art studio, workout space, and hangout spot, also doubles as an entertaining hub. Used daily, the large table is usually covered in art supplies, but can also function as a place for sweets, treats, and horderves for any event, in tandem with the kitchenette adorned with a bright green countertop. An intimate sitting area with 2 lounge chairs face an inviting ribbon fireplace and TV, also doubles as space for them to workout in. The powder room, with matching green counters, is lined with a bright, fun wallpaper, that you can see all the way from the pool, and really plays into the fun art feel of the space. With a bright multi colored rug and lime green stools, the space is finished with a custom neon sign adorning the namesake of the space, "The Goody Nook”.

This residence had been recently remodeled, with the exception of two of the bathrooms. Michael Merrill Design Studio enlarged the downstairs bathroom, which now has a spa-like atmosphere. It serves pool guests as well as house guests. Over-scaled tile floors and architectural glass tiled walls impart a dramatic modernity to the space. Note the polished stainless steel ledge in the shower niche. A German lacquered vanity and a Jack Lenor Larsen roman shade complete the space. Upstairs, the bathroom has a much more organic feel, using a shaved pebble floor, linen textured vinyl wall covering, and a watery green wall tile. Here the vanity is veneered in a rich walnut. The full renovation of this 3-story home located in the gated Royal Oaks development in Houston, Texas is a complete custom creation. The client gave the designer carte blanche to create a unique environment, while maintaining an elegance that is anything but understated. Colors and patterns playfully bounce off of one another from room to room, creating an atmosphere of luxury, whimsy and opulence.

This stand-alone condominium takes a bold step with dark, modern farmhouse exterior features. Once again, the details of this stand alone condominium are where this custom design stands out; from custom trim to beautiful ceiling treatments and careful consideration for how the spaces interact. The exterior of the home is detailed with dark horizontal siding, vinyl board and batten, black windows, black asphalt shingles and accent metal roofing. Our design intent behind these stand-alone condominiums is to bring the maintenance free lifestyle with a space that feels like your own.

Clean, modern lines and high ceilings mix with graceful arches, re-sawn heart pine rafters and a large masonry fireplace. The kitchen features stunning Crown Point cabinets in eye catching 'Cook's Blue' by Farrow & Ball. This kitchen takes its inspiration from the French farm kitchen with a separate pantry that also provides access to the backyard and outdoor shower.

Lovely transitional style custom home in Scottsdale, Arizona. The high ceilings, skylights, white cabinetry, and medium wood tones create a light and airy feeling throughout the home. The aesthetic gives a nod to contemporary design and has a sophisticated feel but is also very inviting and warm. In part this was achieved by the incorporation of varied colors, styles, and finishes on the fixtures, tiles, and accessories. The look was further enhanced by the juxtapositional use of black and white to create visual interest and make it fun. Thoughtfully designed and built for real living and indoor/ outdoor entertainment.

Just in time for the holiday season, we have a stunning contemporary fireplace remodel we recently completed in Burke, VA! The monochromatic white color scheme lends an air of sophistication to this gorgeous fireplace! It’s very sleek and clean, but it still has the inviting warmth of a more traditional fireplace. The recessed cavity for the TV is our favorite part of this project. It wasn’t originally planned, but we realized that addition would elevate the design by making the TV feel less obtrusive and opening up the space more. It’s those small details that really stand out on this project, the recessed TV, the subtle tile edging, the handles, and all those other minor details that really tie this remodel together!
