The Clients contacted Cecil Baker + Partners to reconfigure and remodel the top floor of a prominent Philadelphia high-rise into an urban pied-a-terre. The forty-five story apartment building, overlooking Washington Square Park and its surrounding neighborhoods, provided a modern shell for this truly contemporary renovation. Originally configured as three penthouse units, the 8,700 sf interior, as well as 2,500 square feet of terrace space, was to become a single residence with sweeping views of the city in all directions. The Client’s mission was to create a city home for collecting and displaying contemporary glass crafts. Their stated desire was to cast an urban home that was, in itself, a gallery. While they enjoy a very vital family life, this home was targeted to their urban activities - entertainment being a central element. The living areas are designed to be open and to flow into each other, with pockets of secondary functions. At large social events, guests feel free to access all areas of the penthouse, including the master bedroom suite. A main gallery was created in order to house unique, travelling art shows. Stemming from their desire to entertain, the penthouse was built around the need for elaborate food preparation. Cooking would be visible from several entertainment areas with a “show” kitchen, provided for their renowned chef. Secondary preparation and cleaning facilities were tucked away. The architects crafted a distinctive residence that is framed around the gallery experience, while also incorporating softer residential moments. Cecil Baker + Partners embraced every element of the new penthouse design beyond those normally associated with an architect’s sphere, from all material selections, furniture selections, furniture design, and art placement. The clients desired an Industrial and Contemporary look for their new kitchen. The original town home kitchen was smaller in size with a larger dining and family room area. Heavily influenced by the feel of New York lofts, the project started with strong and sturdy combination of metals, dark blues, woods, and greys. A softer, matching backsplash was added to balance and create a second focal point in the room. Inspiration for a huge country master brown floor and light wood floor bedroom remodel in Austin with beige walls

Blending a modern sensibility with traditional architecture, this garden features a front yard meadow with native grasses (Carex praecracilis) and wildflowers. Poured-in-place concrete pavers in a meandering pattern slow the approach from the sidewalk to the entry. The modestly-sized backyard has been maximized for entertaining with outdoor dining and lounging areas and subtle landscape lighting. The elegant Entry Hall to this apartment is lined with hand painted Gracie wall-paper. The metal railing was re-worked using the original metal pieces and more detail was added along with carved brass inserts. The border of the floor is embellished with an inlay Greek key. Benjamin Moore’s Richmond Green was the client’s favorite color and we wanted the family room to feel enveloped in the hue. Saturated walls offer both a ‘wow’ factor as well as a calming effect within this space.

Within this comfortably cozy mountain retreat filled with natural light, Siemasko + Verbridge has created a space ideal for entertaining and showcasing the surrounding mountain views. Located in Sugarbush, Vermont, a refined alpine style creates a relaxed and inviting environment. Reclaimed beams and earthy materials emit a feeling of warmth throughout the condo and the fireplace, faced with local Vermont stone, is perfect for curling up in front of after outdoor adventures. The team drew inspiration from the condo’s slope-side setting, infusing the space with playful reminders of the wilderness outdoors: stag print pillows, snowflakes on the dining chairs and skiing scenes depicted on the walls as you head upstairs. Siemasko +Verbridge’s family-friendly design accommodates ample space for gear and ski storage, durable fabrics and easy-to-maintain furnishings. Coarser textiles such as antler chandeliers are balanced with softer materials like nubby pillows and knit throws providing an interesting juxtaposition of textural elements.
