We gave this rather dated farmhouse some dramatic upgrades that brought together the feminine with the masculine, combining rustic wood with softer elements. In terms of style her tastes leaned toward traditional and elegant and his toward the rustic and outdoorsy. The result was the perfect fit for this family of 4 plus 2 dogs and their very special farmhouse in Ipswich, MA. Character details create a visual statement, showcasing the melding of both rustic and traditional elements without too much formality. The new master suite is one of the most potent examples of the blending of styles. The bath, with white carrara honed marble countertops and backsplash, beaded wainscoting, matching pale green vanities with make-up table offset by the black center cabinet expand function of the space exquisitely while the salvaged rustic beams create an eye-catching contrast that picks up on the earthy tones of the wood. The luxurious walk-in shower drenched in white carrara floor and wall tile replaced the obsolete Jacuzzi tub. Wardrobe care and organization is a joy in the massive walk-in closet complete with custom gliding library ladder to access the additional storage above. The space serves double duty as a peaceful laundry room complete with roll-out ironing center. The cozy reading nook now graces the bay-window-with-a-view and storage abounds with a surplus of built-ins including bookcases and in-home entertainment center. You can’t help but feel pampered the moment you step into this ensuite. The pantry, with its painted barn door, slate floor, custom shelving and black walnut countertop provide much needed storage designed to fit the family’s needs precisely, including a pull out bin for dog food. During this phase of the project, the powder room was relocated and treated to a reclaimed wood vanity with reclaimed white oak countertop along with custom vessel soapstone sink and wide board paneling. Design elements effectively married rustic and traditional styles and the home now has the character to match the country setting and the improved layout and storage the family so desperately needed. The Clients contacted Cecil Baker + Partners to reconfigure and remodel the top floor of a prominent Philadelphia high-rise into an urban pied-a-terre. The forty-five story apartment building, overlooking Washington Square Park and its surrounding neighborhoods, provided a modern shell for this truly contemporary renovation. Originally configured as three penthouse units, the 8,700 sf interior, as well as 2,500 square feet of terrace space, was to become a single residence with sweeping views of the city in all directions. The Client’s mission was to create a city home for collecting and displaying contemporary glass crafts. Their stated desire was to cast an urban home that was, in itself, a gallery. While they enjoy a very vital family life, this home was targeted to their urban activities - entertainment being a central element. The living areas are designed to be open and to flow into each other, with pockets of secondary functions. At large social events, guests feel free to access all areas of the penthouse, including the master bedroom suite. A main gallery was created in order to house unique, travelling art shows. Stemming from their desire to entertain, the penthouse was built around the need for elaborate food preparation. Cooking would be visible from several entertainment areas with a “show” kitchen, provided for their renowned chef. Secondary preparation and cleaning facilities were tucked away. The architects crafted a distinctive residence that is framed around the gallery experience, while also incorporating softer residential moments. Within this comfortably cozy mountain retreat filled with natural light, Siemasko + Verbridge has created a space ideal for entertaining and showcasing the surrounding mountain views. Located in Sugarbush, Vermont, a refined alpine style creates a relaxed and inviting environment. Reclaimed beams and earthy materials emit a feeling of warmth throughout the condo and the fireplace, faced with local Vermont stone, is perfect for curling up in front of after outdoor adventures. The team drew inspiration from the condo’s slope-side setting, infusing the space with playful reminders of the wilderness outdoors: stag print pillows, snowflakes on the dining chairs and skiing scenes depicted on the walls as you head upstairs. Siemasko +Verbridge’s family-friendly design accommodates ample space for gear and ski storage, durable fabrics and easy-to-maintain furnishings. Coarser textiles such as antler chandeliers are balanced with softer materials like nubby pillows and knit throws providing an interesting juxtaposition of textural elements. The Brief Create a WOW factor space, add glamour and fun and give the house a street side and garden side, both different. Our Solution This project was exciting from the start, the client wanted to entertain in a WOW factor space, have a panoramic view of the garden (which was to be landscaped), add bedrooms and a great master suite. We had some key elements to introduce such as an aquarium separating two rooms; double height spaces and a gloss kitchen, all of which manifest themselves in the completed scheme. Architecture is a process taking a schedule of areas, some key desires and needs, mixing the functionality and creating space. New spaces transform a house making it more valuable, giving it kerb appeal and making it feel like a different building. All of which happened at Ailsa Road.

Introducing a new standard in Vinyl Plank. Inspired by the length and width of European Oak flooring, these are floors to both admire and live on. At 9-inches wide by 7-feet long, they are the largest vinyl plank available on the market, creating a modern, low-seam installation. The extra-durable 30 mil wear-layer (0.75 mm), ceramic bead coating, and 100% water-proof core make for a floor that can handle heavy commercial traffic. A pre-attached cork backing provides a softer feel, and sound insulation in multi-story applications.

Embracing this unique site, the Dojo was designed to respect the natural landscape through it's simplicity. Having the structure float among the landscaping, the Dojo presents a softer, more mindful connection to the ground.
