The challenge was how to convert a cramped unimaginative builder’s kitchen into somewhere light and airy where a family of four could live, cook, and be happy. The kitchen needed more space and I took it from wherever I could. The large refrigerator took up space and dominated the room, so we set it back and into a custom designed cabinet, thereby opening up a new window. We also pushed back a wall in the laundry room. The room was designed to fit the way the family lives, with cooking mainly confined to one end and the wine refrigerator and entertaining space at the other.

Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in Bengaluru

Along with the current white kitchen trend, this kitchen fits in perfectly with its twist on the blue color palette. This kitchen is an updated version of an old idea, with traditional subway tiles and color play on the blue tones. As part of Wellborn’s Estate Series, this kitchen combines a unique twist of an old French Café and modern elements; making the aesthetic design of this kitchen guaranteed to leave you in awe. In this kitchen by Wellborn Cabinet is a blend of Full Overlay and Beaded Inset cabinetry. The upper and lower cabinetry includes full overlay Lexington doors painted in our newly launched Oyster White color with smooth close drawer guides and door hinges. The upper center and island cabinets are Hanover Beaded Inset accented with oil rubbed Bronze barrel hinges and finished in Wellborn’s newly launched Aqua paint.

Beautiful remodel of outdated kitchen. Bright, contrasting red upper kitchen cabinets mixed with melodic gray tones of bottom kitchen cabinets. The black countertop balances with silver fittings and faucets for an exciting modern look within this space. We resurfaced and repainted all cabinets, installed new granite countertop, installed mauve glass tile, installed new pulls and handles, and upgraded the appliances. The end result is amazing area to cook and entertain every day.

“We were able to let natural light into the kitchen from both the east side and west side of the house. Before the remodel, our kitchen was dark because of the color scheme and having only the one window on the east side of the house. Now our kitchen/dining room is full of natural light!” The couple chose Semihandmade’s 30″ white Supermatte Shaker cabinetry and Shaker drawers along with white IKEA UTRUSTA shelving and drawer fronts and corner base cabinets with pullout fittings; white IKEA MAXIMERA drawers and pullout interior fittings.

Designer Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn helped a neighbor and friend to update a “builder grade” kitchen into a personal, family space that feels luxurious and inviting. The homeowner wanted to solve a number of storage and flow problems in the kitchen, including a wasted area dedicated to a desk, too-little pantry storage, and her wish for a kitchen bar. The all white builder kitchen lacked character, and the client wanted to inject color, texture and personality into the kitchen while keeping it classic.

This city penthouse in San Francisco required a complete renovation to create a sleek,sophisticated urban abode for a successful, busy bachelor. We designed and executed many custom built in elements including a built in sofa which also houses a hidden television that rises with a touch of a button. A floating bench suspends diners in the dining room. Layers of subtle luxury swath this penthouse including silk rugs, wood veneer wall covering, and silk velvet fabrics.   Free ebook, Creating the Ideal Kitchen. DOWNLOAD NOW   Our clients had been in their home since the early 1980’s and decided it was time for some updates. We took on the kitchen, two bathrooms and a powder room. The layout in the kitchen was functional for them, so we kept that pretty much as is. Our client wanted a contemporary-leaning transitional look — nice clean lines with a gray and white palette. Light gray cabinets with a slightly darker gray subway tile keep the northern exposure light and airy. They also purchased some new furniture for their breakfast room and adjoining family room, so the whole space looks completely styled and new. The light fixtures are staggered and give a nice rhythm to the otherwise serene feel. The homeowners were not 100% sold on the flooring choice for little powder room off the kitchen when I first showed it, but now they think it is one of the most interesting features of the design. I always try to “push” my clients a little bit because that’s when things can get really fun and this is what you are paying for after all, ideas that you may not come up with on your own. We also worked on the two upstairs bathrooms. We started first on the hall bath which was basically just in need of a face lift. The floor is porcelain tile made to look like carrera marble. The vanity is white Shaker doors fitted with a white quartz top. We re-glazed the cast iron tub. The master bath was a tub to shower conversion. We used a wood look porcelain plank on the main floor along with a Kohler Tailored vanity. The custom shower has a barn door shower door, and vinyl wallpaper in the sink area gives a rich textured look to the space. Overall, it’s a pretty sophisticated look for its smaller fooprint.
