Always wanting an island for dining and prep, this homeowner decided it was time to remodel the kitchen.

We saved on budget by refacing the existing cabinets and building a custom island --this allowed room in the budget to upgrade to a marble backsplash--another classic that will remain timeless for decades.
Pulling in some neutrals like whites and greys and then injecting her favorite color blue, the kitchen became an extension of her! Quartz countertops in Torquay and classic shaker-style cabinets make this a coastal classic design. The blue is just the cherry on the cake, or should we say blueberry?

The seating area can seat seven, seen here with five large dining chairs. The 30-in. high seating top features 2-1/4" thick laminated engineered quartz. It's supported by a custom-made tubular steel sub-frame hidden by an apron panel and styled panels around the two steel posts.

The cooking area features a 36-in. rangetop and custom hood above. The two corbels are solid maple and custom made here in The Shop. Below the gas rangetop is a custom designed base cabinet that features six large pot and pan drawers. This Hankins' signature piece measures 6-foot wide and its drawers are custom made to allow passage of both gas line and electrical to the connection points. This cabinet holds many pots and pans.

A linear planting of molinia Moor Flame grass bisects a wedge-shaped plant bed with a specimen magnolia. Beach pebbles and slate chip mulch provide textural contrast.

Double trash pullout features a stainless edge treatment to save the door edge from wear and tear commonly found at the trash cabinet. Also below, you note the hutch foot detail from the rangetop base cabinet. These hutch foot brackets are also found below the microwave cabinet and add a nice hint of detail for the discerning eye.

Kitchen respecting the age of the building (1920's) with a european loft touch to it. It's composed of certain black cabinet and others are custom and of noble and timeless walnut. Quartz countertops were chosen to actualizes the area and not only to makes it pretty but also because it is much easier to maintain. For full comfort, heated flooring was integrated. A custom walnut wine rack was designed built-in in a matter to see all the bottle and to take little. And finally, an 8 feet by 6 feet back lighted fake window gives the occupants the feeling of having breakfast in paris every morning.
