To create a cheerful bedroom that truly captured the joie-de-vivre of girlhood, we wanted to design a one-of-a-kind ceiling treatment. Flavor Paper’s multi-colored geometric Cuben wallpaper provides the room with an unexpected touch that urges guests to look up. A solid brass Jonathan Adler Puzzle Chandelier mirrors the wallpaper’s geometric pattern and adds a touch of glam.

This kitchen is an example of the small kitchen that is interesting, functional and appealing. The eat-in section of this island was designed with tapered legs in order to create the feel of a country kitchen table, enhancing the "up country" flavor of this open room. Random width, beaded-board paneling, complements the beaded, flat-panel cabinet doors. Extensive use of divided-glass, cabinet doors, and the wrought iron pot rack, give this kitchen its handsomely livable character. Heart Pine is a distinguished heritage American wood. It's beauty of grain, workability and response to usage overtime make it one of the premium choices for cabinetry by the custom cabinetmaker. In too limited supply for a typical manufacturer, but in sufficient available quantity to ensure the custom cabinetmakers needs heart pine stands as a unique opportunity for clients who seek authenticity, a part of America's past and the beauty which only may come from this unique wood.

Inspired by a wide variety of architectural styles, the Yorkdale is truly unique. The hipped roof and nearby decorative corbels recall the best designs of the 1920s, while the mix of straight and curving lines and the stucco and stone add contemporary flavor and visual interest. A cameo window near the large front door adds street appeal. Windows also dominate the rear exterior, which features vast expanses of glass in the form of oversized windows that look out over the large backyard as well as inviting upper and lower screen porches, both of which measure more than 300 square feet.

This eclectic kitchen has the flavors of farmhouse, rustic modern and traditional all wrapped into one. The wall was removed between the original kitchen to allow for an open concept while still maintaining a kitchen work space. All of the millwork, beams and finishes were added during construction to this space which was once a drywall box. The end results are casual and stunning!

Simplicity and precision distinguish a collection that presents an significant architectural effect combined with a highly natural style. The EGO kitchen places the accent on the “wooden effect” suggested by the materials - with special emphasis given to the grain of yellow pine - to originate a color combination with a traditional flavor. With its natural suggestions and geometric trim, the EGO collection gazes at tradition through modern eyes to provide a very friendly feeling.

Our homeowners approached us for design help shortly after purchasing a fixer upper. They wanted to redesign the home into an open concept plan. Their goal was something that would serve multiple functions: allow them to entertain small groups while accommodating their two small children not only now but into the future as they grow up and have social lives of their own. They wanted the kitchen opened up to the living room to create a Great Room. The living room was also in need of an update including the bulky, existing brick fireplace. They were interested in an aesthetic that would have a mid-century flair with a modern layout. We added built-in cabinetry on either side of the fireplace mimicking the wood and stain color true to the era. The adjacent Family Room, needed minor updates to carry the mid-century flavor throughout.

This Boulder, Colorado remodel by fuentesdesign demonstrates the possibility of renewal in American suburbs, and Passive House design principles. Once an inefficient single story 1,000 square-foot ranch house with a forced air furnace, has been transformed into a two-story, solar powered 2500 square-foot three bedroom home ready for the next generation.
The new design for the home is modern with a sustainable theme, incorporating a palette of natural materials including; reclaimed wood finishes, FSC-certified pine Zola windows and doors, and natural earth and lime plasters that soften the interior and crisp contemporary exterior with a flavor of the west. A Ninety-percent efficient energy recovery fresh air ventilation system provides constant filtered fresh air to every room. The existing interior brick was removed and replaced with insulation. The remaining heating and cooling loads are easily met with the highest degree of comfort via a mini-split heat pump, the peak heat load has been cut by a factor of 4, despite the house doubling in size. During the coldest part of the Colorado winter, a wood stove for ambiance and low carbon back up heat creates a special place in both the living and kitchen area, and upstairs loft.
This ultra energy efficient home relies on extremely high levels of insulation, air-tight detailing and construction, and the implementation of high performance, custom made European windows and doors by Zola Windows. Zola’s ThermoPlus Clad line, which boasts R-11 triple glazing and is thermally broken with a layer of patented German Purenit®, was selected for the project. These windows also provide a seamless indoor/outdoor connection, with 9′ wide folding doors from the dining area and a matching 9′ wide custom countertop folding window that opens the kitchen up to a grassy court where mature trees provide shade and extend the living space during the summer months.
With air-tight construction, this home meets the Passive House Retrofit (EnerPHit) air-tightness standard of

Completed in 2013, this stunning Italianate Mediterranean Villa is located in Highland Park, Texas and stands out in an already distinct architectural neighborhood. This project was designed and installed by Harold Leidner Landscape Architects. The expansive property features a lush landscaping, front motor court with travertine pavers and a luxury pool and spa. The pool area was designed to have a private resort feel to allow for entertaining. In addition to the spacious loggia and cabana spaces, the owner also wanted to have shade protection near the water, so a custom designed pavilion was built on the end of the pool to provide a shaded destination with cushion lounges that extend out into the water, flanked by fountains and adjacent to a fire bowl feature with a classic fire place surround. A truly elegant outdoor space for parties and entertaining with a sophisticated, modern flavor.
