Mid-sized trendy two-story wood flat roof photo in Portland

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. Kitchen remodel with reclaimed wood cabinetry and industrial details. Photography by Manolo Langis. Located steps away from the beach, the client engaged us to transform a blank industrial loft space to a warm inviting space that pays respect to its industrial heritage. We use anchored large open space with a sixteen foot conversation island that was constructed out of reclaimed logs and plumbing pipes. The island itself is divided up into areas for eating, drinking, and reading. Bringing this theme into the bedroom, the bed was constructed out of 12x12 reclaimed logs anchored by two bent steel plates for side tables.

This small 3/4 bath was added in the space of a large entry way of this ranch house, with the bath door immediately off the master bedroom. At only 39sf, the 3'x8' space houses the toilet and sink on opposite walls, with a 3'x4' alcove shower adjacent to the sink. The key to making a small space feel large is avoiding clutter, and increasing the feeling of height - so a floating vanity cabinet was selected, with a built-in medicine cabinet above. A wall-mounted storage cabinet was added over the toilet, with hooks for towels. The shower curtain at the shower is changed with the whims and design style of the homeowner, and allows for easy cleaning with a simple toss in the washing machine.
