Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in Chicago

ADU (Accessory dwelling unit) became a major part of the family of project we have been building in the past 3 years since it became legal in Los Angeles. This is a typical conversion of a small style of a garage. (324sq only) into a fantastic guest unit / rental. A large kitchen and a roomy bathroom are a must to attract potential rentals. in this design you can see a relatively large L shape kitchen is possible due to the use a more compact appliances (24" fridge and 24" range) to give the space even more function a 24" undercounter washer/dryer was installed. Since the space itself is not large framing vaulted ceilings was a must, the high head room gives the sensation of space even in the smallest spaces. Notice the exposed beam finished in varnish and clear coat for the decorative craftsman touch. The bathroom flooring tile is continuing in the shower are as well so not to divide the space into two areas, the toilet is a wall mounted unit with a hidden flush tank thus freeing up much needed space.

Several phases of construction for this house have created a place of fine living, while preserving the original integrity of this modest, ocean-side dwelling. The intimate interior scale and distinctive living spaces are hidden treasures of this home.

Here's a view of the living room from the kitchen. You can see the free standing wood burning stove with glass hearth on the right, and the wall mounted flat screen tv on the left. Our client is a lover of all things rustic and country themed, you can see a bit of her white and brown cowhide rug at the bottom of the photo as well as the kilim rug mounted on the wall to the left. This dwelling with its two building complexes is situated on a wooded plot of land in São Paulo. It is both sophisticated and representative, and features integrated spa areas, a home cinema and a gourmet kitchen. The inhabitants can enjoy the calm surroundings, with numerous old trees, on three floors, but particularly when they are outside in the spacious free areas and at the pool. The striking, protruding flat roof provides shade and protects the residents from the rain – a major advantage in an area with constant temperatures that has just as much rain as it does sun.
