Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood is decidedly Victorian to the casual observer. However, while this young family appreciates the Beacon Hill aesthetic, they preferred a more updated, contemporary interior to fit their urban lifestyle. We created living spaces with elements that both respected the historic architecture and gave the homeowners the modern, clean-lines they desired. This elegant home remodel created a bright, transitional farmhouse charm, replacing the old, cramped setup with a functional, family-friendly design. We transformed the cramped kitchen into a spacious, functional area for a growing family. A dreamy farmhouse sink island graces the kitchen, complemented by creamy white trim, light wood flooring, and stained accents. The kitchen needed to be lightened and brightened. Out with the dark mid-toned brown wood cabinets and in with freshly painted white cabinets. I transformed the counter area by having an all neutral backsplash for a clean and revived base. I added modern pendant lighting over the island and light wooden Hickory stools decorated with orange accents which gave it a fresh updated look. The owner is a lover of nature and animals, so I wanted to create a casual dining area with a modern twist especially since the space looks out onto the beautifully landscaped backyard. It was a natural choice for the owner to select art featuring two large aviaries filled with a colorful palette of birds, as she has a parrot of her own. Placing an elliptical Julian Chichester table and bright orange Design Within Reach chairs with a whimsical chandelier and vibrant patterned drapes gave the dining area a cheerfully updated look without spending a fortune.

Stepping into this bright modern home in Seattle we hope you get a bit of that mid century feel. The kitchen and baths have a flat panel cabinet design to achieve a clean look. Throughout the home we have oak flooring and casing for the windows. Some focal points we are excited for you to see; organic wrought iron custom floating staircase, floating bathroom cabinets, herb garden and grow wall, outdoor pool/hot tub and an elevator for this 3 story home.
