Studio Z Design

I was introduced to Zuzanna through my general contractor. Scrolling through her past projects I could sense a keen attention to detail with little reliance on trends. Zuzanna listens to her client and ensures her suggestions and designs are perfectly in line with her client's desires. She initially presented several design options for a primary ensuite and bathroom - all of which realized an interpretation of our exchanges. We landed on a great design option and she handled so many details with a hands-on zeal. She had an excellent working relationship with my contractor and was super creative in dealing with issues as they'd come up because they do! I had lofty ambitions for the results of the reno which she exceed by a long shot. She really did go above and beyond and helped what could have been a stressful endeavour to actually be quite a fun one with super excellent results. I can't wait to work with her again.

Zuzanna was recommended to me by friends whose second floor renovation I have admired since it was completed. As a complete newbie to this world, it was extremely reassuring to feel in such competent hands from our very first meeting. As I sit in my renovated, beautiful, clean-lined Victorian row house it is hard to remember what we started with. There were no period details left, weird removals and additions of walls, acres of bad tiling and popcorn textured walls. Zuzanna imagined a gorgeous and functional reconfiguration, a plan that started with macro concerns such as layout all the way down to suggestions for light fixtures (all gorgeous by the way), door knobs etc. Zuzanna is a gentle perfectionist with a keen eye. Yes, that particular electrical socket was in a slightly odd place, and I am glad we got it moved. I was living out of the country as the reno was happening with only occasional visits to check in. I trusted Zuzanna implicitly to keep an eye on things and to let me know when my input was needed.

Studio Z was the architect of a large third floor addition we did a few years ago, and we were so pleased with the results of that project that Zuzanna was our first choice to work on our recent kitchen renovation. The space was quite tired and run down as well as being awkwardly laid out, with a deteriorating glass sunroom at the back leading out to a tiny, little-used deck. Our goal was straightforward: upgrade and redesign the kitchen, rebuild the back entrance, and enlarge the deck. Zuzanna developed an incredible vision for the job, creating a bright, open and wonderfully functional kitchen space, a spectacular partially-covered deck area, and a back entrance that draws the indoor and outdoor spaces together in a way we hadn't even imagined. The result is FAR beyond our original expectations. Throughout the process, Zuzanna was flexible, open-minded, friendly, communicative and always highly professional in her dealings with us and our contractor. She made excellent suggestions for finishes, materials, fixtures and design features, always keeping our tastes and desires top of mind. She also handled the annoying admin tasks like permit applications and preliminary engineering work, making the entire job seamless for us. We are so pleased with the whole experience of working with Zuzanna and would recommend her without hesitation.

I worked with Zuzanna on a kitchen and main floor reno of my 1930s semi. Zuzanna listened to my goals, preferences and budget and designed exactly what I was hoping for. We hired Studio Z Design to help us develop a plan to renovate our 50 year old home in March 2017. The scope of the project included completely redesigning the walkout basement, main floor kitchen, hallways, fireplaces and three bathrooms. This was a fairly large renovation that also included replacing all floors, all railings, and lights throughout the home. The basement was totally resigned and taken down to the studs and reconfigured to make the walkout basement much more functional. New windows and doors were put in the basement to bring more light into the area.The kitchen on the main floor was also totally redesigned too to improve the functionality the kitchen. Zuzanna was wonderful to deal with on every aspect of the design. She helped us evaluate all the options and developed the complete renovation package which included the plan, drawings and managed the material list. When the contractor bid on the project he knew exactly what the scope of the work was which also made it easy for us to negotiate the price of the renovation. There were no surprises in this renovation as a result no extra bills from the contractor as everything was discussed evaluated and documented for the contractor to follow prior to him starting the job. The project went very smoothly as no surprises meant no delays to the project. Zuzanna also help select all the bathroom fixtures and tile in addition to ordering the tiles for the bathrooms and laundry room which was a huge time saver. As we selected other items for the renovation such as kitchen cabinets, counters, back splash, wood floors and lights Zuzanna was always there to give us guidance on each selection. Zuzanna is very professional, very responsive at all times. We were really pleased with Zuzanna's work. Working with Studio Z Design has made this renovation project easy and the result is a beautiful home that works for us.

She presented us with multiple design choices allowing us to pick and choose our favourite parts of each and then put it all together in a final design that was totally custom to our needs with a great use of light, storage and space. Timely, quality work at a fair price. Also very good at giving the customer up front information on potential issues and possible ways of resolving then prior to going into the drawing and design stages.

Our project was mostly a DIY with some help from the pros where needed. Zuzanna was extremely instrumental in helping us along the way not only by providing the architectural design and standard deliverables (all on time, to spec, with no issues) but also helping out in so many areas where only a trained eye would have sufficed! Zuzanna immediately understood what we were looking for in terms of design and build; and wasn't afraid to tell us like it was. She also had tremendous patience with me as I went through endless design options (again, DIY and never designed anything before). We're so happy with our finished product - truly is a dream space for our young family! Great professionalism, very friendly and approachable, stuck to budget - overall wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
