Our client’s intension was to make this bathroom suite a very specialized spa retreat. She envisioned exquisite, highly crafted components and loved the colors gold and purple. We were challenged to mix contemporary, traditional and rustic features. Also on the wish-list were a sizeable wardrobe room and a meditative loft-like retreat. Hydronic heated flooring was installed throughout. The numerous features in this project required replacement of the home’s plumbing and electrical systems. The cedar ceiling and other places in the room replicate what is found in the rest of the home. The project encompassed 400 sq. feet. Features found at one end of the suite are new stained glass windows – designed to match to existing, a Giallo Rio slab granite platform and a Carlton clawfoot tub. The platform is banded at the floor by a mosaic of 1″ x 1″ glass tile. Near the tub platform area is a large walnut stained vanity with Contemporary slab door fronts and shaker drawers. This is the larger of two separate vanities. Each are enhanced with hand blown artisan pendant lighting. A custom fireplace is centrally placed as a dominant design feature. The hammered copper that surrounds the fireplace and vent pipe were crafted by a talented local tradesman. It is topped with a Café Imperial marble. A lavishly appointed shower is the centerpiece of the bathroom suite. The many slabs of granite used on this project were chosen for the beautiful veins of quartz, purple and gold that our client adores. Two distinct spaces flank a small vanity; the wardrobe and the loft-like Magic Room. Both precisely fulfill their intended practical and meditative purposes. A floor to ceiling wardrobe and oversized built-in dresser keep clothing, shoes and accessories organized. The dresser is topped with the same marble used atop the fireplace and inset into the wardrobe flooring. The Magic Room is a space for resting, reading or just gazing out on the serene setting. The reading lights are Oil Rubbed Bronze. A drawer within the step up to the loft keeps reading and writing materials neatly tucked away. Within the highly customized space, marble, granite, copper and art glass come together in a harmonious design that is organized for maximum rejuvenation that pleases our client to not end! The client wanted the feel of the Texas Hill Country while living in the big City of Houston. Extremely large boulders were set in place carefully for soil retention on this extremely elevated lot. The natural stone can freely move and shift to the whim of the 75 year old live oak tree. No more cracked sidewalks and mortared retaining walls here to nullify costly repairs. Succulents fill small voids in the boulder wall. The drift roses add color along the edge. The main staircase is made from natural cut stone and the smaller second staircase off of the driveway ascend to a flagstone path filled with free spirited chocolate mint as a ground cover. The mass plantings of the May Night Salvia will fulfill it's promise of a full green and purple carpet that will return every year.

Our NYC studio designed this gorgeous condo for a family of four with the goal of maximizing space in a modest amount of square footage. A custom sectional in the living room was created to accommodate the family without feeling overcrowded, while the son's bedroom features a custom Murphy bed to optimize space during the day. To fulfill the daughter's wish for fairy lighting, an entire wall of them was installed behind her bed, casting a beautiful glow at night. In the kitchen, we added plenty of cabinets below the island for maximum efficiency. Storage units were incorporated in the bedroom and living room to house the TV and showcase decorative items. Additionally, the tub in the powder room was removed to create an additional closet for much-needed storage space.

With a love for entertaining, this husband and wide came to us wanting to open up the kitchen of their Burnsville home to incorporate their dining room and family room and with the desire to add a large island for gathering. In addition, the wife was an avid baker and wanted to fulfill her dream of a professional-grade range and oven. Having lived with dark cabinetry for many years, our homeowners also desired the new space to reflect a more modern and contemporary feel, filled with clean lines and simple colors. Following their wishes, we used an almost clear stained maple cabinet with shaker doors and simple black hardware. Countertops are Carrara Marmi, a quartz from MSI in Minneapolis, and the tile backsplash has a concrete look and color. Existing red birch floors were feathered in from the dining room into the kitchen, sanded, and refinished. Finally, to tie all the black accents together, we used oversized pendants at the island and changed out the railings with a black iron spindle and square wood top rail and post. The result? Perched in the foothills of Edna Valley, this single family residence was designed to fulfill the clients’ desire for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Much of the program and architectural forms were driven by the picturesque views of Edna Valley vineyards, visible from every room in the house. Ample amounts of glazing brighten the interior of the home, while framing the classic Central California landscape. Large pocketing sliding doors disappear when open, to effortlessly blend the main interior living spaces with the outdoor patios. The stone spine wall runs from the exterior through the home, housing two different fireplaces that can be enjoyed indoors and out. Because the clients work from home, the plan was outfitted with two offices that provide bright and calm work spaces separate from the main living area. The interior of the home features a floating glass stair, a glass entry tower and two master decks outfitted with a hot tub and outdoor shower. Through working closely with the landscape architect, this rather contemporary home blends into the site to maximize the beauty of the surrounding rural area.

Our client came to us with the idea of incorporating a mirror and whiteboard on the closet doors in her teenage daughters room. We fabricated a couple of custom closet doors to fulfill this request and they came out great. A fantastic use of an otherwise underutilized space.

Designed by Angie Barwin of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Woodbridge, VA in collaboration with Potomac Home Improvements, this bold traditional-style inspired master bathroom remodel features Merillat Classic cabinets in the Seneca Ridge raised panel door style in a Pecan finish. Bathroom vanity tops are Q by MSI in the color Bedrock. The tile featured in the bathroom is by Atlas Tile and features Levoni Gotica Brown in both 12x24 and 12x12 tiles, with accents in Lunada Bay Origami Nami in Ippei Pearl with Woodhouse Pencil in Bancha Natural. Said the client, "Our new bathroom is such a relaxing and beautiful place. Angie was perfect for giving us ideas, taking our initial thoughts and creating an outstanding design to fulfill our vision of a dream bathroom." Added Angie, "This space incorporates all five major design elements: space, texture, light, color and pattern. One of the things I relished was that they did not shy away from color. The room truly reflects their warm personalities. The clients' key must have was a large whirlpool bathtub. We incorporated this into the space as a focal point of their beautiful bay window, accenting and framing the area with tile. It extends seamlessly to the room’s double-height ceiling, adding an element of continuity and establishing a connection with the primary ensuite’s wood panelling. “This integration of design elements creates a cohesive and visually appealing atmosphere,” Lee says. The ensuite’s dramatically veined marble-look is carried from the walls to the countertop and even the cabinet doors. “This consistent finish serves as another unifying element, transforming the individual components into a captivating feature wall.
