This project involved the construction of a large circular deck at a confidential federal headquarters, designed to enhance employee wellness and outdoor engagement. The deck functions as a relaxing park-like space where employees can step outside, walk, and enjoy a break in a natural setting. A second large circular walking deck was also constructed to encourage movement throughout the workday, providing a functional and inviting space for daily activity. Together, these outdoor elements support well-being while maintaining discretion and simplicity appropriate for a federal facility.

Clean lines and a refined material palette transformed the Moss Hill House master bath into an open, light-filled space appropriate to its 1960 modern character. Underlying the design is a thoughtful intent to maximize opportunities within the long narrow footprint. Minimizing project cost and disruption, fixture locations were generally maintained. All interior walls and existing soaking tub were removed, making room for a large walk-in shower. Large planes of glass provide definition and maintain desired openness, allowing daylight from clerestory windows to fill the space. Light-toned finishes and large format tiles throughout offer an uncluttered vision. Polished marble “circles” provide textural contrast and small-scale detail, while an oak veneered vanity adds additional warmth. In-floor radiant heat, reclaimed veneer, dimming controls, and ample daylighting are important sustainable features. This kitchen was remodelled to prepare for the sale of the house. Our clients wanted something that was unique and appropriate for their home while still having mass appeal and functionality. We chose the two tone natural wood and ivory white color scheme to complement the natural wood floors that were found underneath decades old linoleum.

This home was built in 1900 and with time, was showing its age. United Makers wanted to give this house the restoration it needed to enhance its beauty and make it more functional for the owner year round. Maintaining historical charm was a priority when completing the renovation. Salvaged architectural elements from local demolitions were used in order to keep the period appropriate charm while at the same time incorporating high end fixtures and finishes.

Custom designed and built Trex deck in Houston. The inside pattern is the color Saddle while the border is Brown. The deck is built next to a decorative stamped concrete patio and has a mixed beach stone border.

Renovation of this remarkable 1936 Monte Copper Tudor demonstrates how we sensitively transform historic homes to beautifully perform in contemporary life. The challenge was to connect first floor spaces, including the kitchen; dining room; and a lower family room added in a previous addition. The family room received thoughtful and appropriate detailing along with a graceful and functional two-sided bar element linking it with the kitchen. The kitchen was expanded and reimagined with a seamless addition. Diagonal views and openings allow all the rooms to function as a connected whole.

Our client desired a functional, tasteful, and improved environment to compliment their home. The overall goal was to create a landscape that was subtle and not overdone. The client was highly focused on their deck environment that would span across the rear of the house with an area for a Jacuzzi as well. A portion of the deck has a screened in porch due to the naturally buggy environment since the home is situated in the woods and a low area. A mosquito repellent injection system was incorporated into the irrigation system to help with the bug issue. We improved circulation of the driveway, increased the overall curb appeal of the entrance of the home, and created a scaled and proportional outdoor living environment for the clients to enjoy. The client has religious guidelines that needed to be adhered to with the overall function and design of the landscape, which included an arbor over the deck to support a Sukkah and a Green Egg smoker to cook Kosher foods. Two columns were added at the driveway entrance with lights to help define their driveway entrance since it's the end of a long pipe-stem. New light fixtures were also added to the rear of the house. Our client desired multiple amenities with a limited budget, so everything had to be value engineered through the design and construction process. There is heavy deer pressure on the site, a mosquito issue, low site elevations, flat topography, poor soil, and overall poor drainage of the site. The original driveway was not sized appropriately and the front porch had structural issues, as well as leaked water onto the landing below. The sprawling deck, complete with a Finnish sauna and outdoor shower, is the perfect place to unwind and take in the magnificent views. From the windows and floors to the kitchen and bathrooms, everything has been carefully curated to create a serene and bright space that exudes Scandinavian charisma.

This 1990s home needed some updates in key areas of the home. We refreshed the family room mantel with a new profile and designer tile to liven up the living space, then took the home’s multiple bathrooms to a whole new level. In the master bathroom, we took out the builder grade tub and added a sleek soaker tub with more functional his and her vanities. For less maintenance, we used ceramic porcelain tile that replicates the marble the homeowners admired. In a smaller secondary bathroom, the floor is the star of the show and is appropriately complemented by the undulating quasi subway tile revealing subtle variations. We also repurposed their existing vanity and maintained a craftsman feel with clean-lined accessories to stay pristine. The third bathroom embraces simplicity with subtle texture, from the navy concrete looking floors to the unique ombre coloration in the 4×8” shower tile. We kept the overall design simple, leaving all the design details to exude from the variation in the tiles themselves.
