This two-story West Ashley home was built with many traditional features like closed spaces, wood paneled-walls, brick fireplaces and dark wood kitchen cabinets, which are all representative of the year it was built. But, it was time to give the new homeowners a space they would enjoy for years to come. The den makeover included removing pocket doors and walls to open up the adjoining rooms. We also wall-mounted the TV, installed canned lights and drywalled the ceiling – removing the dated popcorn – for a more updated look. The biggest transformation was the new view from the den to the kitchen, which received a facelift of its own. With a little interior design help, the kitchen became a beautiful and elegant space equipped with a new kitchen island with granite, white subway tiles for backsplash between the white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The hanging pendants also added a nice touch. Our favorite feature is the new Butler’s prep area, which has plenty of prep space (and a sink), open shelves, great light from the kitchen window and unique penny rounds in an Ash color for a counter-to-ceiling glamorous look. A simple Honed Absolute Black Granite on the perimeter sets the stage for a showcase island custom fabricated from a beautiful slab of exotic Brazilian Saturnia Granite. The huge quartz vein on the island piece is perfectly situated to catch the natural light from the large windows over the sink. Saturnia Granite is also used as a backsplash behind the stove for added effect.

Bathroom - mediterranean bathroom idea in Dallas

This home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland began as a modest 1927 home with a central hall plan. Renovations included reversing the kitchen and dining room layout , adding a large central island and hood to anchor the center of the kitchen. The island has a walnut counter encircling the working island and accommodates additional seating. The main sink looks out to the north with beautiful water views. The southwest bay window affords a seating area with built-in bookshelves adjoining the breakfast room while the one in the kitchen provides for the secondary sink and clean-up area. By capturing the additional depth in the bay window, a large TV is concealed below the countertop and can emerge with a press of a button or retract out of sight to enjoy views of the water. A separate butler's pantry and wine bar were designed adjoining the breakfast room. The original fireplace was retained and became the center of the large Breakfast Room. Wood paneling lines the Breakfast Room which helps to integrate the new kitchen and the adjoining spaces into a coherent whole, all accessible from the informal entry. Dining room - mediterranean dining room idea in Cedar Rapids

The kitchen wall are tiled to the ceiling using small, slate subway tiles, and a copper farm sink sits under the leaded glass window. The countertops are a beautiful crema bordeaux granite, and the entire main floor boasts hand-scraped hardwood floors. A beautiful antique leaded window sits above the sink allowing natural light and providing rays of sunlight to glitter over the counters.
