With a thoughtful use of lighting and carefully curated furniture, this 1,000 sq ft Mid-Levels apartment with unsightly columns and beams is transformed into a cosy Scandinavian home with a Japanese touch.
When you think of designing a home, one does not usually put Japanese and Nordic together. But Clifton was inspired by the compatibility of the two cultures, which both emphasise minimalism, to bring out this eye-catching fusion project.
Earth tones reminiscent of Scandinavian design are used throughout the apartment, allowing it to look more spacious and comfortable.
Upon entering the apartment, one is quickly greeted by the Japanese style living room, which oozes Zen with a faux fur carpet and flatter furniture pieces including a Fritz Hansen sofa in pink, side table from Habitat, dining table from HAY and pendent lamps from Louis Poulsen.
The apartment is blessed with a high ceiling, but nonetheless, its columns and beams originally made it appear smaller. But with a clever use of lighting, such as indirect lighting on top of the beams and strategic placement of lamps on the columns, the flaws are concealed and the unit appears taller, bigger and more comfortable.
Similarly, the kitchen is transformed into an open one with an island, so the owners, both social butterflies, can invite their friends over for gatherings.
Besides catering to the two adult owners, Clifton did not forget about their fur friend Buddy, a Bichon Frise. To ensure that Buddy does not feel left out at night, while ensuring the couple can have some privacy in their bedroom, a small square hole was made in the door for him to freely move in and out.

Here's Mahi's favorite critter, a kitty. She just loves "Hello, Kitty" items so we put her very own kitty on the wall to greet her and keep her company every time she comes into the room. This life sized stencil (15 in. high X 27 in. wide) is easy to apply and is removable.

This private residence, located in a planned community along Fort Loudoun Lake in Knoxville, Tennessee, is intended to be a forever home for the client couple and their family as the couple nears retirement.
Designed with family gatherings and lake views in mind, those entering the stone-clad cottage are greeted with immediate views of the water. Passing through an entry corridor and then through an oversized archway, the grand, vaulted living and dining areas flank the path to large sliding doors opening onto a covered veranda that overlooks the pool and lake beyond. The interior architecture is open and light, with two en suite master bedrooms on the main level and three guest suites tucked into the eaves over the garage.
The home’s furnishings are an eclectic mix of the homeowner’s unique collections, a blend of comfortable and curated. The exterior is monochromatic in color with shake siding and trim at the gable ends painted to complement the light tan and grays of the stone cladding, creating a French country feel. Custom-painted wood shutters and rich wood entry doors add additional character to the exterior.

Basement: 2115 Sq Ft
Total: 4436 Sq Ft
The Benevento is a downsized version of The Biella and one of the most popular plans.
Coming home should always be a delight, and with the Benevento, it is. The beautiful foyer and grande room greet you with soaring ceilings, and the entire living area welcomes you with open spaces and engaging views. Dining goes from casual at the kitchen island to anything you like in the airy dining room, and the covered patio is only a step away.
The Benevento’s master suite is a haven of privacy in its own wing of the home, optionally warmed by a fireplace and enhanced by built-in entertainment shelving. The master bath, with its glass-block windows, is awash in natural light, and a vaulted ceiling adds to the airy feeling.
A spacious Guest Suite as well as a Study are placed at the opposite side of the home.
There is wonderful outdoor living space in the courtyard at the front door and the covered patio at the rear of the home.
Even the Benevento garages offer room and flexibility, with a roomy two-car space for convenience and a separate one-car space to help you pamper that special coupe. Walk in through the convenient mud room and you’ll find a boot bench, closet, and even a pocket office to help you keep things organized.
Optional basement finish offers a great opportunity to add additional recreation and bedroom spaces based upon the desires of the homeowner.

This Craftsman-blend, hillside walkout home plan has European and Old World influence found throughout. The vaulted great room opens out to a covered porch with skylights, while the unique angled dining room accesses a screened porch with views all around this home plan. The open kitchen has room for multiple chefs to work and a walk-in pantry for plenty of storage in this home plan. A mudroom greets you by the garage, and a separate utility room includes a sink and counter space. When you first walk into the master bath you are greeted by a freestanding tub surrounded by glass and views of the city and vineyards that fills from the ceiling. The 14' vanity offers plenty of space to get ready and plenty of light with the awning windows above. The absolute black honed countertops and stone backsplash offer a dramatic contrast to the vessel sinks with chrome fixtures. The curbless shower does not get any less dramatic with the large etched glass sliding barn door that also encloses the toilet. Off the bathroom is a large walk in closet with cabinets to match.

Landscape of exterior rooms: The site is conceived as a string of rooms: a landscaped drive-way court, a lawn for play, a sunken court, a serene shade garden, a New England flower garden.
The stair grows out of the garden level ordering the surrounding rooms as it rises to a light filled courtyard at the Master suite on the top floor. On each level the rooms are arranged in a circuit around the stair core, making a series of distinct suites for the children, for the parents, and for their common activities.

As you drive from Boucherie Road, you notice an elegant home sat against the beautiful sandy beaches in a mature neighbourhood in the Greenbay area.
Approaching the home you are greeted by the 2500 sq ft of paving stones leading to a classically designed home with rich touches of new ages architecture.

This home, perched on a river in Nevada City CA, has a steep drive way and once you have arrived the first thing that greets you is the garage door. Not the most inviting. To make it a bit more challenging for a color design and placement - it is unclear to guests where the front entry is or even which side to approach the home. To mitigate these issues we painted the garage door so it feels almost like an indoor space in a "craftsman" style. the mass of the garage door is broken up. Next, we painted the two posts on the left in an accent color to delineate and invite the guests into the front entry of the home which is completely hidden around the corner.

Imagine stepping into a coastal paradise where the salty breeze rustles through lush outdoor plants, and the sound of crashing waves in the distance sets the rhythm for your day. This beach home project on Houzz encapsulates the essence of seaside living in every detail.
As you approach this beachfront oasis, a pristine white door welcomes you into a world of timeless elegance and tranquility. The white walls of the exterior not only reflect the purity of the sandy shores but also serve as a canvas for the vibrant hues of the surrounding outdoor plants, making them pop against the backdrop of this dreamy beach home.
Once inside, the transition from indoors to outdoors is seamless. The brick flooring outdoors is reminiscent of quaint coastal villages, evoking a sense of nostalgia and charm. It provides a stable foundation for your journey through this sun-soaked sanctuary. Ceiling fans and ceiling lights above keep the space cool and well-lit, ensuring you can savor the outdoors even on the warmest days or under the starry night sky.
Stepping onto the pristine marble floor inside, you're greeted with a cool, smooth touch underfoot. It offers a striking contrast to the rugged charm of the brick floor outside. The subtle patterns in the marble floor exude sophistication, echoing the beauty of seashells scattered along the beach.
This beach home is not just a place to live; it's a place to connect with the natural world. The patio, nestled amidst the outdoor plants, offers a serene refuge for relaxation and contemplation. Imagine sipping a refreshing drink, surrounded by the gentle sway of the palm trees and the fragrance of exotic blooms. This is a place to escape, unwind, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
