Elegant concrete patio kitchen photo in Austin with a roof extension

The design of the home is inspired by the very best examples of local Spanish Colonial design as seen in the famed Palmcroft and Encanto neighborhoods in Phoenix through its carefully composed massing, fenestration, and detailing. The entry arch, door awnings, plaster grille, wrought iron details and corner chimney mass are all highly evocative of the period, and along with the use of authentic three-coat stucco over metal lath, reinforces the strong sense of authenticity which emanates from the home. Taking down the wall between the kitchen and living room created an open concept space. This transformed the kitchen from dark and cavernous to bright and open.

A new eyebrow trellis was designed over the south facing windows of the house to provide relief from the summer sun and was covered in a lady banks rose that emphasizes the butter yellow trim of the house.

Glass patio cover attached to the house with full outdoor kitchen, mbrico tile deck, and aluminum railing with glass inlay. We also added outdoor heaters and a hanging chandelier.

Varied hardscape textures and colors define outdoor rooms and pathways in the side yard. Oregon grape breaks the monotony of exterior walls, and California native Carpeteria and Hot Lips salvia bring year round green with bursts of color in summer and fall.

The patio off of the garage is covered with a slide wire awning that provides shade in the summer and sun in the winter. An outdoor room hosts dining and leisure and extends the living space of the home. The patio is paved with concrete permeable pavers which allows proper drainage on this small lot.
