Our goal is to make outdoor living more feasible in the summer. We know what an investment it is to make your backyard an oasis, so we like to make it livable by adding a shade that actually keeps you cool. At MTR we believe in making your backyard a vacation you can come home to everyday to escape after work. Only downside: your friends won't want to hang out at their lame palapa-less place anymore. his Texas-sized palapa was a perfect fit for this beautiful Texas-style backyard. We installed this on Friday afternoon so that they'd be ready to party and enjoy outdoor grilling and drinks at the swim-up bar in our lovely hot summer heat, under this beautiful 12 foot shade over the weekend. Always a special treat when our clients pups come to hang out with us!! Beautiful custom 12' ocean palapa. Our ocean typically comes at a standard 11' diameter but this client wanted the canopy to reach over the swim-up bar they have in their pool. We make the majority of our structures as soon as the customer orders it because no two clients are the same and we're more than happy to accommodate because no to backyards are the same. We also made the post an octagonal shape instead of the standard square post we typically use in order to fit perfectly in the groove of their already existing countertop.

AV Architects + Builders Location: McLean, VA, United States Our clients were looking for an exciting new way to entertain friends and family throughout the year; a luxury high-end custom pool house addition to their home. Looking to expand upon the modern look and feel of their home, we designed the pool house with modern selections, ranging from the stone to the pastel brick and slate roof. The interior of the pool house is aligned with slip-resistant porcelain tile that is indistinguishable from natural wood. The fireplace and backsplash is covered with a metallic tile that gives it a rustic, yet beautiful, look that compliments the white interior. To cap off the lounge area, two large fans rest above to provide air flow both inside and outside. The pool house is an adaptive structure that uses multi-panel folding doors. They appear large, though the lightness of the doors helps transform the enclosed, conditioned space into a permeable semi-open space. The space remains covered by an intricate cedar trellis and shaded retractable canopy, all while leading to the Al Fresco dining space and outdoor area for grilling and socializing. Inside the pool house you will find an expansive lounge area and linear fireplace that helps keep the space warm during the colder months. A single bathroom sits parallel to the wet bar, which comes complete with beautiful custom appliances and quartz countertops to accentuate the dining and lounging experience. Todd Smith Photography

Inspiration for a transitional backyard stone patio kitchen remodel in Miami with an awning

Creating several comfortable and functional outdoor rooms in this urban backyard was the primary goal. 1) A deck with outdoor kitchen elements and built in seating. 2) Bluestone terrace with fire pit sits 18" above the soccer-lawn. 3) The garage rooftop allows for complete separation and drinks in the garden. 4) Oh, the trampoline pad (under the tree canopy) - I believe that's what triggered this wonderful project!
