The front areas of this landscape were transformed from a tired, water thirsty lawn into a contemporary setting with dramatic concrete pavers leading to the home's entrance with FX Luminaire low voltage pathway lighting. New driveway constructed with large concrete slabs and small black pebbles set in resin. Plants for sun and part shade complete this project. This lower section of the client's garden connects with a backyard fence. Before it was a sloping mass of dirt and weeds. This is what the transformation looks like 8 weeks after installation. Over the next couple years it will fill in the empty spaces to become full of color and texture with a walking trail right down the middle.

Fast growing, dense mounds 8 to 12 in. tall and wide. Full Sun. Outstanding, icy blue coloration to this clumping ornamental grass holds up even through the heat of summer. Buff colored flowers create eye-catching contrast. Perfectly suited for edging borders or mass planting as a groundcover. Drought tolerant when established. Evergreen.

The steep hillside in this photo once divided two neighboring properties. We connected them with an inviting stone path and soft textured shade plantings. Evergreen foliage provides a constant, beautiful base, while flower and foliage color bring seasonal change. More at mosaic-gardens.com.

This backyard landscape design is inspired by our Blu Grande Smooth patio slab. Design ideas for a large traditional partial sun backyard stone garden path in New York.

The cedar tub relates to the cedar deck, benches and beam screens. This view is from the door of the ADU looking out into the space. The greenhouse like material we used on the fence acts as a changing art piece where the shadows and lights interact with it. I designed it to be modern Shoji like screens.

The American Craftsman style grew in popularity at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. The style emphasized work done by hand over mass-production, keeping with a growing cultural ethos of that period. It focused on handmade, local and/or natural materials, simplicity and originality. Traditional Craftsman style homes would feature handcrafted stained or leaded glass, metalwork and wood. In 2017, the Craftsman is simplified and uncluttered but has kept its vigor for handcrafted, long-lasting elements. Unpretentious and comfortable, Craftsman homes are often low-profile, one-and-a-half stories that could be part of the landscape.
