There once was a time when families spent the evening gathered happily around a warm flame, not a television. The Windsor Arch evokes this era, providing timeless beauty and bold craftsmanship. As Victorian castings accompany highlighted chrome, flames within radiate steady, even heat for many years to come. Unique in design and function, the Windsor Arch combines modern technology with a subtle hint of distinction and elegance from a time once forgotten.

When you see the before photos of this kitchen, the finished product is nearly unrecognizable! This is because the original kitchen was 10x10, and wall separated the kitchen area from the eating area. Opening up the 2 spaces was exactly what this new kitchen needed! Since the dining area was directly adjacent to the family room, the designer at Advance Design created a low wall of matching decorative book case cabinets with a granite top to create separation needed between the spaces. This bank also eloquently held a beautifully wood appointed supporting column necessary for the structural ceiling load. The focal point of the new kitchen is the hand-painted backsplash centered under a wooden hood in the chef’s special cooking area. A completely functional island now has space for several stools, and even has a decorative touch with the shelving unit facing the eating area. The space next to the refrigerator became an efficiently organized bill paying area for the lady of the house, complete with pull out file drawers hidden behind matching kitchen cabinets. Replacing the “black hole” of a pantry; pull out shelves grace the interior of new pantry units suitable for the family of five busy people. Existing hardwood oak was repaired and refinished on the entire first floor. A light patterned gold granite works effortlessly with the tumbled marble backsplash that enjoys hints of weathered iron looking details that coordinate nicely with the cabinetry hardware. What makes this kitchen special is how elegant it appears despite the rustic feel of the knotty alder cabinetry. Clean design lines lend an air of sophistication to the otherwise “rustic” looking materials. Now this active family can enjoy the open space, cooking and hanging out together is now an enjoyable pastime.

New homeowners wanted to update the kitchen before moving in. KBF replaced all the flooring with a mid-tone plank engineered wood, and designed a gorgeous new kitchen that is truly the centerpiece of the home. The crystal chandelier over the center island is the first thing you notice when you enter the space, but there is so much more to see! The architectural details include corbels on the range hood, cabinet panels and matching hardware on the integrated fridge, crown molding on cabinets of varying heights, creamy granite countertops with hints of gray, black, brown and sparkle, and a glass arabasque tile backsplash to reflect the sparkle from that stunning chandelier.

Countless windows hint at a light-infused interior, while a long, covered porch, complete with recessed lighting, creates an ideal spot for enjoying a day or evening spent outdoors. HD Estates

Situated along the East River, this one bedroom, two bathroom apartment serves as an oasis for the Upper East Side home owner with carefully curated detail and breathtaking views. Her love of open, feng shui-inspired design set the stage for this complete apartment renovation. Upon entering the space, guests are greeted by an open, airy, and light-filled Foyer that was doubled in size for this transformation. The black metal wall glazing at the end of the foyer provides framed views of the teak wood dining table, black shell Eames dining chairs with walnut Eiffel legs, and a glamorous brass chandelier. It also gives guests a first hint at the industrial accents to anticipate throughout. Natural finished wide plank wood flooring leads guests into a contemporary open floor plan. Previously a cramped Dining Room and dated Kitchen, the space was opened up by removing dividing walls — transforming it into the perfect space for dinner parties and socializing. Featuring crisp white cabinetry with glass inserts and stainless steel appliances, the Kitchen is finished off with polished chrome hardware and fixtures to add a bit of sparkle throughout. Marble slab countertops with a waterfall edge and industrial globe pendants provide a stunning framed backdrop for the hand-carved mango wood counter stools. Just beyond the Kitchen; the Living Room warmly welcomes guests with a luxurious Milan shadow grey velvet sectional atop a plush ivory Moroccan area rug. This pairing is surrounded by luxurious accents like custom marble window sills, a cognac leather lounge chair, and an emerald green velvet ottoman, both detailed with sophisticated brass accents. Other moments of glamour are infused throughout, including a mirrored tray and accessories that sit on top of an industrial teak and black metal framed coffee table. The apartment’s luxury components are juxtaposed with unique custom framed art, curated and placed to speak to the personality of the home owner. The powder room is another nod to the client’s love of the modern, industrial aesthetic with black grouted subway tile, a black metal trimmed mirror, sconces and stunning Aztec-inspired black and white painted cement tile. No luxury design is complete without creation of spa-like places of respite. The master bathroom walls are clad in white quartz with a textured chevron marble feature wall. The Carrara marble hexagon floors provide a luxurious platform beneath the home owner’s feet as she unwinds with a glass of wine in the spa bathtub made for deep soaking.

This remodel was for a family that purchased a new home and just moved from Denver. They wanted a traditional design with a few hints of contemporary and an open feel concept with the adjoining rooms. We removed the walls surrounding the kitchen to achieve the openness of the space but needed to keep the support so we installed an exposed wooden beam. This brought in a traditional feature as well as using a reclaimed piece of wood for the brick fireplace mantel. The kitchen cabinets are the classic, white style with mesh upper cabinet insets. To further bring in the traditional look, we have a white farmhouse sink, installed white, subway tile, butcherblock countertop for the island and glass island electrical fixtures but offset it with stainless steel appliances and a quartz countertop. In the adjoining bonus room, we framed the entryway and windows with a square, white trim, which adds to the contemporary aspect. And for a fun touch, the clients wanted a little bar area and a kegerator installed. We kept the more contemporary theme with the stainless steel color and a white quartz countertop. We combined soft watery blues and greens in this kitchen. The existing floor tile has a hint of green, so we complimented it with the Cambria Quartz 'Praa Sands'. The dark wood island echos the table finish and darker woods in the adjacent living room. Spectacular Rustic/Modern Basement Renovation - The large unfinished basement of this beautiful custom home was transformed into a rustic family retreat. The new space has something for everyone and adds over 1800 sq. feet of living space with something for the whole family. The walkout basement has plenty of natural light and offers several places to gather, play games, or get away. A home office and full bathroom add function and convenience for the homeowners and their guests. A two-sided stone fireplace helps to define and divide the large room as well as to warm the atmosphere and the Michigan winter nights. The undeniable pinnacle of this remodel is the custom, old-world inspired bar made of massive timber beams and 100 year-old reclaimed barn wood that we were able to salvage from the iconic Milford Shutter Shop. The Barrel vaulted, tongue and groove ceiling add to the authentic look and feel the owners desired. Brookhaven, Knotty Alder cabinets and display shelving, black honed granite countertops, Black River Ledge cultured stone accents, custom Speake-easy door with wrought iron details, and glass pendant lighting with vintage Edison bulbs together send guests back in time to a rustic saloon of yesteryear. The high-tech additions of high-def. flat screen TV and recessed LED accent light are the hint that this is a contemporary project. Inspiration for a partial sun landscaping in San Francisco for summer.

Full kitchen remodel from top to bottom. We demoed the existing kitchen including the removal of a large built in pantry with doors. We replaced the pantry with a dry bar area and beverage fridge. The perimeter cabinetry is Fabuwood Fusion Blanc and the island and dry bar are Fusion Chestnut. We refinished the existing hardwood floors and installed a new large island with tons of seating for family and friends. The granite used was Azul Patino which has a great hint of blue and silver. What a great update.
