We took this unfinished attic and turned it into a master suite full of whimsical touches. There is a round Hobbit Hole door that leads to a carpeted play room for the kids, a rope swing and 2 secret bookcases that are opened when you pull the secret Harry Potter books.

What better place for two brothers, but their own private space under the stairs. We created their own hobbit hole, complete with miniature sofas and toys, and a cypher lock to keep out unwanted visitors. The chalk board panel on the door flips down so they can see who's requesting entry before opening the door. The chalkboard wall holds their artwork, secret messages and graffiti from playmates. There's even another door inside for a quick escape to another room!

The client wanted a dramatic entryway that would not overpower this single-story design, and the designer complied with this unique portico. On this beautiful wooded site, the organic nature of Arts and Crafts style influences the design, taking it to the next level with an eyebrow-shaped pediment that resembles an upscale earthen dwelling. The shallower curve of the transom echoes the roofline. Paired columns on stone piers, brick accents, and a wood ceiling complete the picture.
