Waiting Area for Cedar Counseling & Wellness in Annapolis, MD. Walking into waiting area 01, we wanted clients to feel safe and secure, while with waiting area 02, we wanted something a bit more bright, and open. Being a multi-use space: waiting area, yoga studio, kitchen, walk way, etc., the design needed to serve a multitude of purposes. As is the case, we created a seating arrangement that provides plenty of walkability (to the counselor’s offices) while still having the ability to be ability to be reconfigured, if needed.

What began as a kitchen remodel became a full first-floor transformation. Our clients’ clarity of vision and implicit trust in the RHD team set the stage for an impactful, holistic design. The new design honors the home’s architecture while giving it a sophisticated, soulful, and refreshingly grounded appeal. A thoughtful curation of materials reflects and elevates our clients’ distinctive style. These included a creamy honed quartzite, natural wood cabinetry, and reclaimed wood beams on the ceiling and fireplace mantle as well as sculptural lighting and new original art work that complemented our clients existing collection. With just a few strategic layout changes and a fresh, intuitive design direction, this home now flows effortlessly and feels entirely new.

Xpand's design blended with the homeowner's vision: a year-round culinary haven where one could grill to their heart's content while soaking in the serene landscape. The transformation of the screen porch into a stone and tile sanctuary, complete with state-of-the-art air exchange and climate control systems ensures a smoke-free environment. The installation of custom Dekton countertops and Twin Eagles grilling and smoking appliances elevates the space, making it not just functional but also a statement of elegance. The room incorporates wellness design principles of lots of natural lights, bringing nature into your home, uncluttered space, and a sense of tranquility when you are in this room. The " less is more" in decorating a holistic space to decompress and remove stress.

Opportunity: The unusual shape of this space, low ceilings, and poorly located appliances combined to make guests feel cramped and unsure of where to sit in this kitchen. The access doors to the exterior deck begged for more space to make for a more natural flow from the inside out. And the adjacent TV area off of the kitchen felt neglected and disjointed. With some holistic thinking and beautiful details, we were able to turn this awkward space into a focal point of a warm and cozy home. RESULT: The range backsplash became our piece de resistance and our focus on creating a cohesive design of the spaces. A blue/gray and white theme with gold accents evolved and combined to bring it all together.
