Our gut remodel established a seamless new floor plan with two large islands. We lined the perimeter with ample storage and carefully layered creative lighting throughout the space. Contrasting white and walnut cabinets and an oversized copper hood, paired beautifully with a herringbone backsplash and custom live-edge table.

To add video to the mix, a tap of a button activates the 40-inch Samsung 4K TV mounted to the wood paneling at the side of the bar. Futurian attached the TV to an articulating wall mount that allows the TV to be pulled away from the wall and swiveled in all directions.

The living room is tucked away in the corner of the first story but keeps the open feel of the rest of the house with its floor-to-ceiling windows. The upstairs TV room is a bright space with fun furniture that doubles as the couples home theater. A massive 75-inch Samsung TV is built into the custom entertainment center. Surround sound speakers and a custom Leon sound bar provides top-notch sound to the space. Blackout shades hidden within the window frames can be lowered to create a theater atmosphere. Set upon an oversized and highly sought-after creekside lot in Brentwood, this ​two story home and full guest home exude a casual, contemporary farmhouse style and vibe. The main residence boasts 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, each ensuite with thoughtful touches that accentuate the home’s overall classic finishes. The master retreat opens to a large balcony overlooking the yard accented by mature bamboo and palms. Other features of the main house include European white oak floors, recessed lighting, built in speaker system, attached 2-car garage and a laundry room with 2 sets of state-of-the-art Samsung washers and dryers. The bedroom suite on the first floor enjoys its own entrance, making it ideal for guests. The open concept kitchen features Calacatta marble countertops, Wolf appliances, wine storage, dual sinks and dishwashers and a walk-in butler’s pantry. The loggia is accessed via La Cantina bi-fold doors that fully open for year-round alfresco dining on the terrace, complete with an outdoor fireplace. The wonderfully imagined yard contains a sparkling pool and spa and a crisp green lawn and lovely deck and patio areas. Step down further to find the detached guest home, which was recognized with a Decade Honor Award by the Los Angeles Chapter of the AIA in 2006, and, in fact, was a frequent haunt of Frank Gehry who inspired its cubist design. The guest house has a bedroom and bathroom, living area, a newly updated kitchen and is surrounded by lush landscaping that maximizes its creekside setting, creating a truly serene oasis.

The TV mounts are notable because they can be adjusted with just a touch of the fingers, so the crystal clear and super-sharp video displayed on the Samsung 4K HDTVs can easily be viewed from anywhere in the room with no effort. The mounts also slide from side to side so they can be moved to the perfect position on each wall, and they tilt the TV back so connections can be made simply without any contortions or extra effort required.

We chose the Samsung HDTVs because they’re four times sharper than a full-HD display, thanks not only to their 4K UHD resolution, but because they feature active crystal color, high dynamic range and UDH dimming. That makes the video absolutely stunning by brightening every image, enhancing contrast for outstanding display of detail, and ensuring true-to-life color. The Smart TVs easily display streaming video with no additional boxes or dongles required, and are incredibly slim so they blend in perfectly with the décor in each room.

First up was the living room’s home theater, which we built around an ultra-slim 55-inch Samsung UN55JU9000 4K Ultra HD television with a bright, crisp display, along with an AppleTV unit and a Blu-ray player. Video and audio were powered by a 7.2-channel 4K Denon AVR-X3100W home theater receiver with full connectivity, utilizing Polk 90-RT 3-way speakers in the ceiling and a powerful Definitive Technology IWSub 10/10 passive in-wall subwoofer. All of the speakers are very low profile, barely even distinguishable in the lovely and comfortable living room.
