Quinn and Paige, residents of this tired 1960’s tri-level home hated their kitchen. As a matter of fact, prior to making plans to renovate the first floor - they considered selling the home, but were reluctant because of its enviable location near the heart of downtown Barrington which was within walking distance to local stores and all their favorite places. So instead they contacted Advance Design Studio after hearing about them from a neighbor, to rescue their tired home and give it new life.
The very first plan was to remove the constricting walls surrounding the original kitchen, and open the expansive first floor living room and dining area to the new heart of the space; a stunning state of the art coastal designed kitchen. Exposing attractive beams in the vaulted ceiling created an interesting structural detail that suits the open plan and salutes the original architecture of the home, further emphasizing the height of the new space enjoyed now by the family as a great room.
The stage was set for the seaside feel of this kitchen by pairing crisp white painted maple cabinets with Dura Supreme’s one of kind hand weathered finish on the island in soft blue-green finish. But the authentic feeling of being on your favorite beach was supremely achieved by the matching of unique Mt. Claire marble on the island and the specialty Wareham acid washed stone on the perimeter counter tops. Pictures don’t do justice to the feel of this stone under your hand; its water-washed texture reminds instantly of summer vacations collecting rocks softly etched by hundreds of waves.
Stainless steel appliances and satin nickel hardware shine brightly against the backdrop of bright white subway tiles accentuated by subtle grey grout lines contributing to the nautical feel of this comfortable kitchen. Seeded glass door cabinetry reminiscent of beach grasses dress up the space just enough, and a proud 6” stacked crown molding extends above 36” wall cabinets into the expanse of the now taller space; balancing this kitchen nicely within its newly integrated home.
Features in this kitchen include a built in standard depth refrigerator, pull out spice racks, tall tray dividers and wood super Susan with double pull out trash and recycling. A cutlery divider holds sharp knives, and an angled cabinet was customized to hold a secret USB charging station. The bright white Kohler farm sink is graced by an elegant bridge faucet in brushed nickel. This now airy and spacious kitchen has room for guest and family to congregate around the large island, complete with stools and attractive hidden storage for seldom used entertainment pieces.
“I was sold when I saw the drawings. My designer nailed it, down to every last storage idea and coastal detail I envisioned, it was all in there. It was unbelievable how accurate her interpretation was of what was in my head; working with her made my kitchen renovation so easy, it’s as if she literally read my mind”, said Paige enthusiastically.
The woman of the house expressed upon completion not only her love for her fantastic new cooking space, but how renovating her kitchen has given new life to the entire home. Talk of moving has been relegated to the recycling bin, and instead the family is discussing plans to renovate the master bath now that they’ve decided to stay for the long term. Friends who visit the home do a double-take as they recognize the new space’s dramatic transformation from original cramped and closed spaces - to the now amazingly fresh open kitchen that has become the center of every gathering and family meal.

The clients love nature and wanted to incorporate a natural, outdoorsy feel with a neutral theme that included a lot of woodgrain and stone textures. 12×24 ceramic tiles were laid vertically from the door, up the tub skirt, and up the shower wall to the ceiling, creating an uninterrupted linear wood-look. The frameless shower glass contributes to the flowing feel and open concept that our designers hoped to convey.

The image depicts a modern living room with a minimalist and stylish design. A round table with a dark top and black metal legs is surrounded by two black chairs, positioned on a light wooden floor. The table is adorned with decorative items, including a vase with dried flowers, a textured black sphere, and a glass container. Nearby, several potted indoor plants add a touch of greenery to the space. A modern staircase with wooden steps and black railings ascends to an upper level, visible on the left side. In the background, a flat-screen television is mounted on the wall above a wooden console, which holds a white vase with dried branches and small lanterns. A wicker basket with a blanket sits near a small rug, contributing to the cozy yet contemporary atmosphere of the room. The overall decor is clean and uncluttered, emphasizing natural materials and subtle accents.

A new home for two, generating four times more electricity than it uses, including the "fuel" for an electric car.
This house makes Net Zero look like child's play. But while the 22kW roof-mounted system is impressive, it's not all about the PV. The design features great energy savings in its careful siting to maximize passive solar considerations such as natural heating and daylighting. Roof overhangs are sized to limit direct sun in the hot summer and to invite the sun during the cold winter months.
The construction contributes as well, featuring R40 cellulose-filled double-stud walls, a R50 roof system and triple glazed windows. Heating and cooling are supplied by air source heat pumps.

Modern Minimalism Meets Everyday Life in Lancaster
Project Overview
Challenge:
With three children, two cats, and frequent visits from friends and extended family, the homeowners needed a kitchen that could keep up with their active household. As certified foster parents, [LINK TO THIS MONTH’S BLOG POST] they also required secure, lockable storage for knives, alcohol, and cleaning supplies. While functional, the existing kitchen felt dated and lacked efficiency. Their vision: clean countertops, hidden appliances, and durable finishes with timeless appeal.
Design:
Lenton Company created a tailored plan that honored the family’s budget and priorities. The U-shaped layout was preserved, but the stove was moved to the opposite wall to improve flow for two active cooks. Dark green shaker-style base cabinets were paired with white uppers and quartz countertops, delivering a high-contrast, classic look. Water resistant, wood-tone flooring was installed throughout the kitchen and main living areas for durability and cohesion. The drop ceiling remained due to ductwork but was refinished for a fresh appearance.
Build:
Construction began with a full demo and was carefully sectioned off to maintain a safe environment. The remodel included all-new appliances, lighting, cabinetry, and finishes. Thoughtful features like soft-close drawers, oversized pull-out trash and recycling, locking storage, a hidden microwave, and dedicated space for a toaster oven contributed to a clutter-free and functional kitchen. Under-cabinet lighting, overhead fixtures, and a half lazy Susan further enhanced efficiency and usability.
Reveal:
In the words of our homeowners, “Working with Lenton Company made the process feel seamless and turnkey. Having the designer, project manager, and build team all under one roof was a huge advantage. Our designer really listened to our needs and design preferences, offering thoughtful layout options and guiding us toward choices that fit our style and budget. The build team was efficient, professional, and kept everything on track—and tidy! After the renovation, we knew without a doubt we had made the right decision.”

The family room, previously a flat wall with no built-in features, was transformed to reduce clutter and create a more organized space. A custom-built wall unit was designed to maximize storage and functionality. This large unit features a mounted flatscreen TV set against a shiplap backdrop, with wires neatly concealed within the wall to minimize visible cords. The built-in unit includes two floor-to-ceiling bookcases on either side, each with open shelving both above and below. The center of the unit offers a combination of drawers and cabinet doors, providing 10 additional storage solutions. This versatile space is ideal for organizing children’s artwork, art supplies, movies, electronics, games, and more.
To enhance the overall aesthetic, crown molding was added to complement the unique sloped ceiling, along with baseboards and additional trim work. Additionally, wood floor laminate was installed throughout the entire first floor of the home, replacing outdated carpet and contributing to a cohesive, modern look.

Quiet beauty: It absorbs sound, contributing to a peaceful, contemplative environment.

Sturdicorp, LLC fabricated custom Accoya® shutters and exterior architectural elements for the Beach Club at Alys Beach, a luxury coastal development along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Our scope included fixed louvered shutters and Bahama-style panels, engineered for long-term durability and performance in a coastal, high-wind environment. Accoya® modified wood was selected for its stability, resistance to moisture, and suitability for demanding exterior applications.
Designed to complement Alys Beach’s signature architectural style, these elements contribute to the project’s clean, coastal aesthetic while meeting rigorous structural and environmental requirements.

This residence was designed as a series of linked pavilions inspired by the relationship to nature found in traditional Japanese vernacular architecture. The site was conceived and planned in collaboration with Brent Cottong, landscape architect, creating an integration of interior and exterior living spaces, view corridors and site lines. The home was sited around existing natural elements that include a heritage Coast Live Oak tree, a stand of redwoods and a seasonal creek.
The interior of the house glows with natural light that suffuses the space. The geometry and fenestration maximize natural light and incorporate energy efficient climate-responsive solar design principles. Solar orientation photographs were taken throughout the site, on which a solar study was based, contributing to the generation of the design.

Architectural design for a new contemporary, single-story, high-performance Energy Star certified home and detached garage with workshop for a rebuild as a result of the Marshall Fire disaster. The simplicity of the design assisted with controlling construction costs to balance the insurance settlement driven budget and responded to municipal regulations regarding wildfire resistive construction methods and passive fire protection. A detached and uninsulated garage contributed to significant construction cost savings, by eliminating the requirement for the high-performance envelope and residential fire sprinkler system. Future upgrades to a photovoltaic energy system results in a Net Zero home.
Our client desired a high-performance home. The design includes Passive House principles of responding to solar orientation, a compact and simplified footprint, and maximizing natural light within the primary living spaces. Mechanical systems such as a heat pump water heater, a geothermal radiant heat system, and Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) were carefully selected to improve indoor air quality and maximize the Federal and local tax credits available for our client. Energy Star Certification and an all electric design maximizes additional significant rebates from both Excel Energy and the State of Colorado.

Down a private lane and sited on an oak studded lot, this charming Kott home has been transformed with contemporary finishes and clean line design. Vaulted ceilings create light filled spaces that open to outdoor living. Modern choices of Italian tiles combine with hardwood floors and newly installed carpets. Fireplaces in both the living and family room. Dining room with picture window to the garden. Kitchen with ample cabinetry, newer appliances and charming eat-in area. The floor plan includes a gracious upstairs master suite and two well-sized bedrooms and two full bathrooms downstairs. Solar, A/C, steel Future Roof and dual pane windows and doors all contribute to the energy efficiency of this modern design. Quality throughout allows you to move right and enjoy the convenience of a close-in location and the desirable Kentfield school district.

The image showcases a full indoor shot of a spacious and well-appointed home entertainment or hobby room. A large, light beige entertainment center serves as the focal point, featuring built-in display cases meticulously arranged with model cars. Transparent cases and organized shelves highlight an extensive collection, while a mounted flat-screen television displays an image of a vintage car.
The seating area includes a plush sectional sofa and matching armchairs upholstered in a soft beige fabric, offering a comfortable space for relaxation. The flooring is a rich, dark-brown hardwood, providing contrast to the lighter tones of the furniture and walls.
Along one wall, a dark granite countertop with cabinetry adds functionality, potentially serving as a workspace or bar area. Additional glass display cabinets house miniature collectibles, enhancing the room’s curated aesthetic. Stylish, wall-mounted cases further showcase select model cars.
Natural light filters through windows fitted with light-colored shutters, contributing to the room’s bright and airy atmosphere. A ceiling-mounted fan sits centrally, complementing the well-finished molding and trim work. The room exudes a refined yet inviting ambiance, tailored for both relaxation and showcasing a prized collection.

Completed in partnership with LAM Studios Inc., this Fall 2024 renovation transformed multiple areas of a Dilworth home into a cohesive, functional, and beautifully updated living environment. The project included a complete kitchen remodel, living room renovation, bathroom remodel, laundry room update, dining room renovation, fireplace enhancement, and hallway improvements.
The kitchen serves as the centerpiece of the renovation, featuring improved functionality, modern finishes, and a layout designed to support everyday living and entertaining. Adjacent living and dining spaces were thoughtfully redesigned to create a seamless flow throughout the home, while the updated fireplace provides a warm and inviting focal point.
Additional improvements to the bathroom, laundry room, and hallway enhanced both comfort and efficiency, ensuring every space contributes to the home's overall functionality and style. Through careful planning, quality craftsmanship, and timeless design choices, this renovation successfully blends modern living with lasting elegance.
The result is a beautifully refreshed home that feels brighter, more connected, and perfectly tailored to the homeowners' lifestyle.

For those of you who can actually afford one, this penthouse which is Signature Stagers’ end of the year work of art is a very engaging proposal.
This penthouse we staged at the start of November 2015 has been lingering on the market for about 2 years prior to our meeting the owner. It is located in the exclusive Dubai Marina district among a few other select buildings and is currently for sale with Verzun on a POA (Price on application) basis due to its unique stature and lifestyle element which removes it from the “square foot” mentality and elevates it from its competition within the same building.
The penthouse was renovated prior to staging, and the apartment itself displays a fresh and modern look whilst keeping its classic and initial fit out and design.
Although a few key elements of the penthouse’s original architecture were retained, this neo-classical approach we decided on contributed to the dwellings select and sophisticated appeal numerous novel and sharply modern features which are also present around the residence, thus safeguarding its uniqueness and extremely fascinating form.
Swaggering 14,000 square feet this splendid home is apposite to a family as much as it is for the traveling executive who desires an exclusive and ultra-private address in Dubai.
