This bespoke waterfront estate was designed for a discerning client, creating a sanctuary that mirrors the tranquility of the ocean just outside. The open-tread, wood-and-steel spiral staircase serves as a central sculptural element, realized with absolute architectural precision and designed to capture sweeping views. Our comprehensive approach included custom millwork for the integrated, fully-stocked wet bar and FF&E procurement for the seating, ensuring every piece contributes to the client’s vision for a multigenerational legacy home.

The original refrigerator and pantry wall included cabinetry of varying heights, limited integrated storage, and underused vertical space. The arrangement contributed to a crowded appearance and restricted the kitchen’s overall flow.

This bathroom remodel features a sleek, minimalist design with dark, narrow rectangular tiles covering the walls and floor, creating a unified and modern look. The space includes a wall-mounted toilet and a contemporary, wall-mounted sink with an elegant faucet, both contributing to the streamlined, space-efficient layout. The curved walls add architectural interest, while integrated lighting around the mirror provides a soft, ambient glow. Exposed plumbing beneath the sink adds an industrial touch, and the discreet flush system and hidden electrical outlets maintain the room's clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Overall, the design emphasizes functionality, modern elegance, and simplicity.

With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. Grand Award Winner for Best Indoor Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home This award-winning project was recognized at the 2020 Gold Nugget Awards with two Grand Awards, one for Best Indoor/Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home, and another for Best Interior Design of a One of a Kind or Custom Home. At the 2020 Design Excellence Awards and Gala presented by ASID AZ North, Ownby Design received five awards for Tonal Harmony. The project was recognized for 1st place – Bathroom; 3rd place – Furniture; 1st place – Kitchen; 1st place – Outdoor Living; and 2nd place – Residence over 6,000 square ft. Congratulations to Claire Ownby, Kalysha Manzo, and the entire Ownby Design team. Tonal Harmony was also featured on the cover of the July/August 2020 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design and received a 14-page editorial feature entitled “A Place in the Sun” within the magazine.

This stunning Eastern Suburbs kitchen design comes to life at night with blue and purple 'disco strip' LED lighting under mounted in kitchen and vanities. The owners completely remodeled the home including the kitchen, ensuite and bathroom. Previously a bedroom, two walls were removed to accommodate the new kitchen to create an open plan living area and extend the overall living area. Cabinetry in Polyurethane Antique, matching Kirribilli-style cabinet doors, feature panel glass doors, Butler sink and Shaker-style handles all contribute to create a traditional style kitchen. The Calcutta marble benchtop and splashback unifies the contrasting black of the Island and kickboards. The black and white theme extends from the kitchen through to the bathroom and laundry.

We’ve given the Palisades Apartment Complex brand new common areas for its residents and staff to enjoy. After a total remodel, the party room and office area have been redesigned (these two spaces were flipped, as we described in an earlier post) and the pool area, bathrooms and exercise room also have a new, upscale look. In the party room, the new carpet with its fun, bold pattern, (also featured in an earlier post) furniture, wallcoverings and fabrics all contribute to a contemporary, fun space. Special attention was placed on the bar area, which makes a statement with its unique textured metal panels – a feature we shared on our facebook page while the design was in progress. That statement is echoed by the etched metal pieces behind the bar. The new seating area makes an inviting place to linger. All the party room furniture, including barstools and tables, is easy to move, making the space versatile. The fireplace adds warmth and ambiance. It’s conveniently built-in, along with the flat-screen TV above it. Wallcoverings contribute to the comfortable feel in the room, as well as adding protection for the walls. Contemporary and fun artwork in the pool area coordinates with the other updates in the complex, as does the design of the office reception area. The “Haverhill” is a simply elegant Georgian-style home. Symmetry and order are balanced by decorative details, all of which contribute to the authenticity of the design. Arched rooflines, copper dormers and stone masonry are just a few of the creative touches found on this home’s exterior.
