The owners wanted structure, color and interesting design where different locations on the large property each had a different feel and purpose. We created a clean semi-Mediterranean contemporary vibe with plantings in the front edged in light colored pebbles. We used Lavender, Nepeta for color and Boxwood Cones for formality and structure. “New Dawn” Climbing roses started framing the mostly horizontal façade of the house with light blush pink blooms and shiny healthy foliage. There was a woodland area in semi-shade where we used evergreen “Plum Yew” and purple leaved “Forest Pansy” Redbuds, Dogwoods and shade tolerant perennials were added including “Autumn” Fern and Astilbes. We even planted up a newly created long stone retaining wall with different trailing Sedums and Hen & Chicks as they would do in England.

This landscape project seamlessly integrates two adjoining properties, creating a unified and vibrant outdoor space. The installation of a native meadow, a distinctive pond, and natural stone walls, along with the addition of stepping stones, spring-flowering trees, native plants, and bulbs, elevate the beauty of this land to new heights.

Inspiration for a cottage dining room remodel in New York

The family who owned this 1965 home chose a dramatic upgrade for their Coquitlam full home renovation. They wanted more room for gatherings, an open concept kitchen, and upgrades to bathrooms and the rec room. Their neighbour knew of our work, and we were glad to bring our skills to another project in the area. Choosing Dramatic Lines In the original house, the entryway was cramped, with a closet being the first thing everyone saw. We opened the entryway and moved the closet, all while maintaining separation between the entry and the living space. To draw the attention from the entry into the living room, we used a dramatic, flush, black herringbone ceiling detail across the ceiling. This detail goes all the way to the entertainment area on the main floor. The eye arrives at a stunning waterfall edge walnut mantle, modern fireplace. Open Concept Kitchen with Lots of Seating The dividing wall between the kitchen and living areas was removed to create a larger, integrated entertaining space. The kitchen also has easy access to a new outdoor social space. A new large skylight directly over the kitchen floods the space with natural light. The kitchen now has gloss white cabinetry, with matte black accents and the same herringbone detail as the living room, and is tied together with a low maintenance Caesarstone’s white Attica quartz for the island countertop. This over-sized island has barstool seating for five while leaving plenty of room for homework, snacking, socializing, and food prep in the same space. To maximize space and minimize clutter, we integrated the kitchen appliances into the kitchen island, including a food warming drawer, a hidden fridge, and the dishwasher. This takes the eyes to focus off appliances, and onto the design elements which feed throughout the home. We also installed a beverage center just beside the kitchen so family and guests can fix themselves a drink, without disrupting the flow of the kitchen. Updated Downstairs Space, Updated Guest Room, Updated Bathrooms It was a treat to update this entire house. Upstairs, we renovated the master bedroom with new blackout drapery, new decor, and a warm light grey paint colour. The tight bathroom was transformed with modern fixtures and gorgeous grey tile the homeowners loved. The two teen girls’ rooms were updated with new lighting and furniture that tied in with the whole home decor, but which also reflected their personal taste. In the basement, we updated the rec room with a bright modern look and updated fireplace. We added a needed door to the garage. We upgraded the bathrooms and created a legal second suite which the young adult daughter will use, for now. Laundry Its Own Room, Finally In a family with four women, you can imagine how much laundry gets done in this house. As part of the renovation, we built a proper laundry room with plenty of storage space, countertops, and a large sink.

When we started this project, the original builder kitchen was divided from the dining room in the front of the house, and the rooms were very closed off from the rest of the house. Our first task was to open the loadbearing and non loadbearing divider walls that was keeping everything separate in order to unify the space and make the house look and feel much larger. New Everwood waterproof plank flooring was installed to meet the daily needs of the family, as it wears exceptionally well, looks amazing and is unaffected by damp mopping. New Cabinetry was then installed, in Benjamn Moores "Distant Grey" colour, followed by Cambria "Brittanica" Luxury Quartz countertops complete with matching backsplash and dual waterfalls on the island.....stunning! A faux Quartz Farm Sink was installed and Restaurant style faucet was chosen. The same look was also applied to the Home office area and the landing area seat where Kids arriving home from School are able to sit down and take off coats and shoes! The end result is absolutely gorgeous and truly a Kitchen "To Die for!!!!!"

This nursery was a Gender Surprise Nursery and was one of our most memorable designs to date. The client was having her second baby and didn't want to know the baby's gender, yet wanted to have an over-the-top, elegant royal nursery completed to her liking before she had the baby. So we designed two complete nurseries down to every detail...one for a boy and one for a girl. Then when the mom-to-be went for her ultrasound, the doctor sealed up a picture in an envelope and mailed it to our studio. I couldn't wait for the secret to be revealed and was so tickled to be the only person besides the doctor to know the gender of the baby! I opened the envelop and saw an obvious BOY in the image and got right to work ordering up all of the appropriate boy nursery furniture, bedding, wall art, lighting and decor. We had to stage most of the nursery's decor here in our studio and when the furniture was set to arrive, we drove to NJ, the family left the house, and we kicked into gear receiving the nursery furniture and installing the crib bedding, wall art, rug, and accessories down to the tiniest little detail. We completed the decorative mural around the room and when finished, locked the door behind us! We even taped paper over the windows and taped around the outside of the door so no "glow" might show through the door crack at night! The nursery would sit and wait for Mommy and baby to arrive home from the hospital. Such a fun project and so full of excitement and anticipation. When Mom and baby Luke arrived home from the hospital and she saw her nursery for the first time, she contacted me and said "the nursery is breath taking and made me cry!"
