Majlis is the traditional name for for Living rooms in Arab homes - this is the area where even in modern homes, the design style will be tradional arabic with touches of arabesques or fret work. The setting is generally placed all around the room symmetrically to encourage interaction between people.

The Aerius - Modern Craftsman in Ridgefield Washington by Cascade West Development Inc. Upon opening the 8ft tall door and entering the foyer an immediate display of light, color and energy is presented to us in the form of 13ft coffered ceilings, abundant natural lighting and an ornate glass chandelier. Beckoning across the hall an entrance to the Great Room is beset by the Master Suite, the Den, a central stairway to the Upper Level and a passageway to the 4-bay Garage and Guest Bedroom with attached bath. Advancement to the Great Room reveals massive, built-in vertical storage, a vast area for all manner of social interactions and a bountiful showcase of the forest scenery that allows the natural splendor of the outside in. The sleek corner-kitchen is composed with elevated countertops. These additional 4in create the perfect fit for our larger-than-life homeowner and make stooping and drooping a distant memory. This 7,000 square foot space is a modern weekend getaway for a modern family of four. The owners were looking for a designer who could fuse their love of art and elegant furnishings with the practicality that would fit their lifestyle. They owned the land and wanted to build their new home from the ground up. Betty Wasserman Art & Interiors, Ltd. was a natural fit to make their vision a reality. Upon entering the house, you are immediately drawn to the clean, contemporary space that greets your eye. A curtain wall of glass with sliding doors, along the back of the house, allows everyone to enjoy the harbor views and a calming connection to the outdoors from any vantage point, simultaneously allowing watchful parents to keep an eye on the children in the pool while relaxing indoors. Here, as in all her projects, Betty focused on the interaction between pattern and texture, industrial and organic.

Eat-in kitchen - mid-sized mid-century modern l-shaped medium tone wood floor and brown floor eat-in kitchen idea in Denver with an undermount sink, flat-panel cabinets, medium tone wood cabinets, granite countertops, beige backsplash, porcelain backsplash, stainless steel appliances and an island

In this kitchen renovation we opened up the wall that separated the kitchen and living room to instantly create a feeling of a larger kitchen and allows for better interaction with guests. Incorporating a breakfast bar added extra seating, a place to sit and converse with the cook while preparing meals and a place to set up a buffet when needed by utilizing the added counter surface. The kitchen extended into the dining space by adding a base cabinet with wood top, flanked by two pantry cabinets. The products used are Waypoint Cherry Spice 420S Full Overlay Square Door Style with veneer flat panel accented with brushed nickel pulls. Santa Cecilia granite countertops with an undermount stainless steel 60/40 sink and Moen Arbor High Arc faucet. For the backsplash Bliss Amber Tea Linear Glass/Stone Blend tile was installed. Accented with a Seagull custom design Ambiance low voltage rail system with 2 pendant lights and 8 directional spot lights.

Nestled in the surrounding hillside of Telluride Ski Resort, this mountain home was born from the idea of integrating a home in to it’s site and having it interact with the natural vegetation and impressive circling views. This did not come without design challenges, but the result was a rustic modern structure clad in steel, glass, wood, and stone. Floor to ceiling glass walls lend to breathtaking views of Mount Emma, Dallas, and Iron Mountain. Transparency through the structure was very important to the clients as it allowed them to feel apart of the natural environment. You can see through the formal entry through the great room and out the back of the house. photos by Pedro Marti The main goal of this renovation was to improve the overall flow of this one bedroom. The existing layout consisted of too much unusable circulation space and poorly laid out storage located at the entry of the apartment. The existing kitchen was an antiquated, small enclosed space. The main design solution was to remove the long entry hall by opening the kitchen to create one large open space that interacted with the main living room. A new focal point was created in the space by adding a long linear element of floating shelves with a workspace below opposite the kitchen running from the entry to the living space. Visually the apartment is tied together by using the same material for various elements throughout. Grey oak is used for the custom kitchen cabinetry, the floating shelves and desk, and to clad the entry walls. Custom light grey acid etched glass is used for the upper kitchen cabinets, the drawer fronts below the desk, and the tall closet doors at the entry. In the kitchen black granite countertops wrap around terminating with a raised dining surface open to the living room. The black counters are mirrored with a soft black acid etched backsplash that helps the kitchen feel larger as they create the illusion of receding. The existing floors of the apartment were stained a dark ebony and complimented by the new dark metallic porcelain tiled kitchen floor. In the bathroom the tub was replaced with an open shower. Brown limestone floors flow straight from the bathroom into the shower with out a curb, European style. The walls are tiled with a large format light blue glass.

This spacious room features a private balcony overlooking the golf course, offering unparalleled tranquility in a flexible space. With built-in closets and an attached full bathroom, the bonus room can be used as an extra bedroom or as a generous living area.
