When local business owners with four kids and an extended family decided to build their custom home with OakWood, they knew what they wanted – a luxurious yet functional space.
This kitchen was designed with the intention of considering the fast-paced lives the family members while also looking to provide a space where everyone can interact and spend time together. Not only was this spacious kitchen inspired by a love of cooking, it was configured to easily facilitate informal dining for the whole large family. A large window behind the main sink brings natural light into the space but also provides a nice view into the backyard so mom can be in the kitchen and see the kids in the backyard.
The kitchen was also designed with a variety of entry points; clients can access the kitchen from their sunroom, mudroom, formal dining area and more. As a result, the space is a central space for the family. Directly adjacent to this space is the informal dining area and a desk with a computer which allows the clients to work while still being present for the comings and goings of everyone in this family space.
Although two colours and textures are used for the cabinetry, there is harmony created between them as a result of the raised panel being used. The cloudy glass backsplash not only breaks up the light toned cabinetry but also adds a glossy finish that contrasts with the smooth wood finishes. Seagrove quartz is present on both the counter and island. This highly detailed quartz adds a great deal of texture and also helps to guide the viewer’s eye around the space. Pendant lights placed above the island help to draw attention toward the center of the space while also mimicking the glass seen in the cabinetry.
This project was a finalist for the GOHBA Awards in the category Traditional Custom Kitchen and was also featured in the Fall issue of LUXE Magazine Ottawa. You can read the full story here: https://console.virtualpaper.com/luxe/luxe-fall-2020/#42/

Kitchen & nook | Visit our website to see where we’re building the Coral plan in Arizona! You’ll find photos, interactive floor plans and more.
The main floor of this delightful model home offers a large, uninterrupted space for relaxing, entertaining and dining. The kitchen features a large center island with seating and opens to the dining and great rooms. Upstairs, there’s a large loft, a full bath tucked between two inviting bedrooms, and a private master suite with walk-in closet and convenient master bath. Options include a bedroom in lieu of the loft at select communities.

This stunning kitchen remodel transformed the space into a modern, open-concept area perfect for family living. The project began with removing the downstairs half-bath, which had been positioned between the kitchen and the small family room, effectively closing off the space. The half-bath was then relocated to a newly added family room, opening up the kitchen area for improved flow and functionality.
In the newly expanded kitchen, the area where the bath once stood now features a spacious peninsula, providing additional seating and creating a more inviting atmosphere for family gatherings. The open design allows for seamless interaction between the kitchen and the adjoining family room, enhancing both the aesthetic and practical aspects of this home. This remodel not only revitalized the kitchen but also brought a fresh sense of space and connectivity to the entire downstairs.

Study | Visit our website to see where we’re building the Bradford plan in the Las Vegas area! You’ll find photos, interactive floor plans and more.
The Bradford model home boasts an open main-floor layout, with a generous dining room, an inviting great room and a gourmet kitchen with a walk-in pantry, center island and adjacent covered patio. You'll also appreciate a quiet study. Upstairs, discover a convenient laundry, a roomy loft and four comfortable bedrooms, including a lavish master suite with dual walk-in closets and a deluxe bath.

This remodel/addition to an existing home transformed the original living room and kitchen into a single great-room while opening up communication to the backyard. The previous home’s kitchen was isolated from the living room and both rooms had no interaction with the outdoor spaces. The project’s elevated ceiling heights and used architectural features, such as beams, to connect and define the spaces of the great room. The inclusion of the multi-slide door emphasized the relationship to the newly designed yard with updated landscaping. This project is a great example of how exterior upgrades and the transformation of a single space can dramatically change the way a family enjoys their home.

We breathed new life into this Hampton’s inspired kitchen with beautiful fresh materials in soft white and airy blue hues. We also redesigned the layout for optimal food prep, cooking and entertaining while keeping them separate from each other. By incorporating the nook area and removing the desk, we were able to give our client everything she ever wanted in a kitchen (see BEFORE pics). The lines and details of the custom hood and soft curved fretwork in the cabinetry create a sense of understated luxury and elegance. Oil rubbed bronze accents on the island legs, traditional lanterns and sconces, along with brushed nickel cabinet hardware complete the space. We also redesigned the fireplace and added built-ins to both sides for additional storage and unified, fresh new look.

One morning, you’re starting your day as you normally would. Then you take a look at your closet, and it’s all the same.
There’s not much room for anything, and everything is a mess.
That was the daily routine for Mary, one of our recent Baton Rouge clients, until she decided she had finally had enough.
Little to No Closet Space: The Start of a Solution
Mary and her family moved into their new home in 2020, and they quickly realized they had had little to no closet space. Knowing that she needed that space for herself, she was inspired and wanted to see if she could turn a 10x12 office in her home into a closet.
Mary took charge and found us through an online search for closet installations, and she decided to give us a call. After speaking with our expert designer Felicity and sharing some photos she saw online, she decided to trust us with her closet installation.
“We had an instant connection and relationship,” Mary said. “Felicity was so down-to-earth and personable that a relationship was built immediately.”
Get the Ball Rolling: Designing and Constructing the Closet
Mary thought that the process was beautiful and simple. Felicity provided a 3D interactive design of the project and based it on Mary’s needs.
Mary said, “It felt like she was trying to accommodate my needs by using her knowledge of what I would need in my closet. It felt very natural.”
Felicity had a contractor she worked with closely. Together, they handled the project in two days, even with the crown molding that needed to be removed for the projected closet cabinets to reach the ceiling.
Once we finished, Mary was amazed at how quickly we finished the closet.
The Final Product: When Fashion and Functionality Work Together
“I love how everything has a place, is very organized, and can all be seen very quickly,” Mary said. Along with the closet’s functionality, Mary loves that her closet looks like a boutique showroom.
We were able to bring fashion and functionality to this closet with:
Showroom lights; makes it look more like a boutique rather than a closet
Hidden hamper
Separate space to see her purses and shoes
Jewelry drawer
Display cabinet for belts and scarves
Small closet for her four-year-old daughter to put her items in
See for yourself!
Saving Time and Stress Through The Day
Now Mary has cut down on both her time and wardrobe. Thanks to her new closet, finding an outfit each day is “quick and easy.”
She even entertains guests in her closet space, thanks to the showroom look we gave her closet.
What makes it better? The small closet inside helps her daughter find her things and keep organized.
Let Us Make Your Dreams Come True
Our work has Mary making plans to work with us for the future. She is already planning to convert another room into a closet, design her pantry, and renovate her garage.
Let us help you achieve your dream pantry, laundry room, or even a closet space like Mary’s!
