What a fun project to work on with an artist and her husband. We collaborated to create a unique soft modern kitchen that has hints of mid-century modern details while expanding the clients storage and cooking space. Subtle details that make a bold statement. It was through the clients interviewing process that they choose to go with Signature Designs Kitchen Bath over other large firms because of the personal collaboration connection. We created a curved island that resembles a piano while it maximized there countertop space it left plenty of room for them to entertain many guest in their nook.

I have been working as a kitchen and bath designer in the Pacific Northwest for 13 years. I love engaging with new clients, ascertaining their needs through various interviews and meetings and then collaborating as we build their finished concept together. The variety of design styles, room layouts and function changes so much between one person and the next that no two finished products are remotely the same. This fluidity allows for endless possibilities for exploration in my field. It keeps the job interesting and has always given me a particular sense of reward and accomplishment as we near completion. The greatest personal recompense in this chosen profession is being able to walk with a client through this process and come out the other side with that client feeling elated with the end result.

This gender neutral kid's bath is whimsical take on the a traditional bath. We used subway tiles in vibrant orange, red and yellow in a random pattern.

Our client found Design Connection, Inc. through reading featured articles in local magazines for many years. Her home was 25 years old and never been updated. Their furniture and accessories were well past their prime. The brick fireplace, the focal point of the room, looked dark and dingy. Upon completion of our first interview with the client I realized her style was transitional and the facade of the fireplace would not work with her new furnishings as well as the golden oak paneling. We brought in our very talented faux painter to access the paneling about changing the color to a soft neutral glow and we completed the transformation in one a very short time.

After interviewing 8 custom home builders, Andre chose to build his retirement home with us. His two bedroom, two bath home includes a garage and a shop underneath. By building a smaller home we were able to infuse beautiful modern design touches such as the Finlandia cedar sauna, polished concrete floors, a spectacular tile shower, exceptional energy efficiency, an expansive TimberTech XLM composite deck, and 24-ft. tall vaulted living room. We learned about their family, entertaining habits, friends, and what they were looking for in a second home during our interview with them. In addition to a new kitchen, they were also in need of help in the bathrooms, and a few other things around the house too.
