We offer move management to help with all stages of move prep to post-move set-up. In this case, once we moved the homeowners into their beautiful custom home, we worked intimately with them to understand how they needed each space to function, and to customize solutions that met their goals. As a part of our process, we helped with sorting and purging of items they did not want in their new home, selling, donating, or recycling the removed items. We then engaged in space planning, product selection and product purchasing. We handled all installation of the products we recommended, and continue to work with this family today to help maintain their space as they go through transitions as a family. We have been honored to work with additional members of their family and now their mountain home in Frisco, Colorado.

The entryway, living room, kitchen and dining room have a large open-concept floor plan that is ideal for entertaining. The white walls brighten up the space, while the tongue and groove details and blue painted ceiling create a soothing and intimate environment.

This extensive remodel overlooking Lake Austin is a paean to the powerful art it enfolds. Rigorous editing of every distracting, inconsequential element of the original house was critical. So too was the insertion of new complementary components that provide artful ways to move through both interior and exterior rooms. The collection of modern art is arresting. Ranging from a Turrell hologram to a pair of Agnes Martins, the art is framed by the architecture and lighting so that it is experienced in a choregraphed, curated way that encourages wandering and an intimate connection to each piece. The mood is set in the entry courtyard. A floating walkway curves down and around a brilliant spiraling blue Clement sculpture. It pauses once, at a moment of surprise, when the first view through the house is filled with the blue water of the lake beyond. Inside the saturated color of many of the pieces of art are balanced by an absence of other visual clutter in the color palette, furniture and architecture. A new interior plaster, steel and bronze stair carves through a space occupied by two small Clement sculptures in niches, a Page Kempner sculpture on a landing and a glass cylinder elevator. This is a very specific place, designed for specific art and for a collector who has a close relationship with each piece.

This visionary homeowner found an idyllic property surrounded by gorgeous pastoral views, fertile soil perfect for a Truffle farm, and an easy distance to downtown Corvallis, Oregon. What was not ideal, however, was the existing house. Built in the 1980’s, this ranch had some undesirably unique features that were not at all the style that our client was imagining for her dream farmhouse. She came to us with the challenge of transforming this dated ranch into a classic southern style farmhouse complete with covered porches and wood burning fireplaces. She had dreams of hosting large parties as well as intimate family gatherings, requiring a modern open concept layout alongside more secluded areas, all while preserving the traditional aesthetic that she desired. Having lived in a wide variety of homes around the country, there were some features this homeowner knew she wanted to incorporate into this major rebuild. We thoughtfully considered how to include those elements in the design while addressing several structural challenges, remaining within budget, and creating a final product that would be both stunning and practical. Historic trim work, white oak flooring, and warm white walls provide the ideal backdrop for showcasing her treasured heirloom rugs and artwork. Incorporating numerous windows on every exterior wall possible, we were able to maximize natural light, and access panoramic views of the countryside, while allowing the fresh air to breeze through. Multiple sets of French doors lead onto the expansive front veranda that wraps around the main living room. This deep, full-length porch is an inviting, shady spot to enjoy the outdoors. The combination of these design features provided the framework to capture the vision she had for her home.

A master suite was added onto this idyllic farmhouse located in Fountain Inn, SC near Greenville. The addition provided a master suite on the main level of the home with a vaulted master bedroom with clerestory dormer windows, vaulted master bathroom with a central freestanding tub set in a framed alcove in front of a gorgeous picture window and crowned with a shimmering chandelier. An oversized marble tile shower with glass enclosure, tile niches and a bench seat flanks the tub on one side and is opposite and enclosed water closet with transom lites. Separate sink vanities allow for comfort and a seated make-up vanity is perfectly placed at the window for natural lighting. The hall leading to the master bathroom retreat is flanked by separate walk-in closets and has recessed pocket doors with transom lites. The suite has it's own vestibule providing the perfect transition area and access to the new study and half bath. The study was once part of a wrap-around porch and still benefits from the existing stone veneer chimney that was intentionally left exposed. The vaulted, yet intimate space is perfect for relaxing, reading, watching tv and conducting business. After a flood swept through the 6000 sf Terrace Level of this home near Atlanta, GA, the homeowners were referred to JDA to re-design and coordinate the renovation. Our scope included a wine room, bar, tasting room, guest suite, game room, screening room, family room, and fitness areas. But the standout has always been the spa. Featuring a locker room, a small sauna, and steam room, the spa felt like an afterthought. 23 months later, the spa stands out for other reasons. Custom sourced, handmade quilted leather doors with knurled brass hardware conceal to a vanity and changing area. Inside, dark mica flake walls glint subtly in the lighting that cycles lazily between moody color pallets as you walk through the space, leading you past refreshment bars and towel stations to find the cast concrete tub. Above you, a dark ceiling appears to float, with edge lighting separating it from the custom American Walnut wall cladding. And everything is drenched in the hyper-warm glow emanating from the lighted pink Himalayan salt wall, which leads to a glass door. Inside is the sauna. There, a second salt wall, backing up to the first, highlights the bespoke curved western red cedar benches and soft cove lighting, providing an intimate and relaxing halotherapy experience. Across the tub room, a glass wall perfectly reflects the first salt wall. Inside, is a surprisingly large steam. A softly rounded, barrel vaulted ceiling is clad in dark, iridescent, Italian mosaic glass tiles. Benches wrap two walls and meet at a vessel sink, perched atop a stone plinth filled with ice to refresh yourself. If you still become overheated, the pull chain attached to the rain shower is set to provide a cold deluge. And to the side, a small touch screen activates the 6 ceiling mounted shower heads aligned above an 8’ stone bench. This is a Vichy shower, which is a shower you of course enjoy lying down. Vichy showers are more prevalent in Turkish hammams to wash away mud treatments. Here it’s placed inside the steam room, allowing you to experience multiple temperature extremes simultaneously. SDH Studio - Architecture and Design Location: North Miami Beach, Florida, USA Set on a 15000 Sq. Ft. lot overlooking Sky Lake, this home was conceived as an intimate enclave. With a minimalistic approach, the architecture gathers strength from cantilevering planes and the innovative use of stucco textures.

When the homeowners came to us, they had a desire to build out an outdoor space that would compliment their covered patio. Ideally, it would allow them to gather around and roast marshmallows in a cozy setting. When we inspected their property, it was fairly exposed to their neighbors; we proceeded to build out the space so it could have additional room for tables and chairs. Our team then worked to sink the fire pit patio area in, to add privacy with greenery to help create an intimate space to enjoy a fire and embrace family.
