The project is completed with a custom home office, where built-in cabinetry and open shelving provide both function and visual interest. Soft color tones and natural materials create a workspace that feels calm, organized, and intentional.
From layout planning to material selection, every detail was designed to support how the homeowners live—resulting in a home that feels cohesive, timeless, and deeply personal.

This inviting modern living room exemplifies the perfect blend of sophistication and comfort. This house is set on a sunny natural plateau, sheltered from the wind and enjoys magnificent views of Sutton Mounts and Echo. The layout of the house integrates harmoniously with the surrounding forest, opening to nature through large expanses of glass and terraces that connect the living spaces to the forest. A long roof shelters the house, its deep eaves acting as a sunshade and defining protected outside spaces. The wide south and east terraces, close to ground level, bring the house into contact with its site and enjoy lots of sunshine. A screen porch is strategically located to avoid blocking the primary views and provides access to the forest. The living living spaces are arranged in an open layout under a ceiling ceiling that reaches 12 feet in height, yet more intimate spaces such as the fireplace alcove modulate the spaces between the higher volumes. The construction will achieve Novoclimat certification and integrates among other things a radiant floor fed by a geothermal heating system. This project was completed in collaboration with engineers and Construction Boivin.

The anchor room of the house, the master suite, is arguably the highlight of the whole-home remodel. Tile clad walls, surround the now opulent primary bath and intimate soaking tub. A breathtaking deep veined quartz countertop and waterfall edge cover the custom-built double vanity and make up counter. A set of back-lit mirrors, spotless curbless shower and bidet toilet, put an emphasis on modernity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.

A waterfront backyard set on a hill too steep to enjoy. To remedy this we installed terraced patio surfaces with stone steps smoothly descending down the hillside to the water. Boulders and walls were used throughout the landscape to ensure soil retention and add a beautiful contrast of natural and man-made appeal to the yard. Each patio surface had plenty of space for people to enjoy without feeling claustrophobic and had seating walls for built in seating space. The plantings were used to soften and brighten the yard, with plants accenting key areas of the landscape. A seating area was installed to one side of the yard to add a more secluded area for a more intimate enjoyment. The added deck space along with the patio space made what was once an unusable yard, something the family could utilize for large scale events.

SDH Studio - Architecture and Design
Location: North Miami Beach, Florida, USA
Set on a 15000 Sq. Ft. lot overlooking Sky Lake, this home was conceived as an intimate enclave. With a minimalistic approach, the architecture gathers strength from cantilevering planes and the innovative use of stucco textures.

This extensive remodel overlooking Lake Austin is a paean to the powerful art it enfolds. Rigorous editing of every distracting, inconsequential element of the original house was critical. So too was the insertion of new complementary components that provide artful ways to move through both interior and exterior rooms. The collection of modern art is arresting. Ranging from a Turrell hologram to a pair of Agnes Martins, the art is framed by the architecture and lighting so that it is experienced in a choreographed, curated way that encourages wandering and an intimate connection to each piece. The mood is set in the entry courtyard. A floating walkway curves down and around a brilliant spiraling blue Clement sculpture. It pauses once, at a moment of surprise, when the first view through the house is filled with the blue water of the lake beyond. Inside, the saturated color of many of the pieces of art are balanced by an absence of other visual clutter in the color palette, furniture, and architecture. A new interior plaster, steel, and bronze stair carves through a space occupied by two small Clement sculptures in niches, a McKay Otto sculpture on a landing and a glass cylinder elevator. This is a very specific place, designed for specific art and for a collector who has a close relationship with each piece.

This luxury San Diego backyard remodel features a custom pool and spa, entertainer’s outdoor kitchen, porcelain paver patio, and drought-tolerant landscape design. At the heart of the design is a beautifully remodeled swimming pool and spa, surrounded by expansive outdoor living spaces that seamlessly connect the home to the landscape.
Large-format porcelain pavers create a clean, modern terrace around the pool while natural flagstone walkways add warmth and character throughout the property. The pool deck flows effortlessly into multiple seating areas, including intimate lounge spaces and fire features that create inviting gathering points in the evening.
A custom entertainer’s outdoor kitchen anchors the main patio and was designed for both functionality and style. The space features premium appliances, generous preparation areas, and a striking decorative tile backsplash that adds texture and visual interest. Adjacent dining and lounge areas allow guests to gather comfortably while enjoying views of the pool and surrounding gardens.
The front and rear landscapes were designed with a low-maintenance planting palette that feels both elegant and natural. Sculptural succulents, citrus trees, ornamental grasses, and layered plantings are set within river rock and gravel beds, creating a drought-conscious landscape that complements the architecture of the home while maintaining year-round visual interest.
Carefully integrated lighting throughout the property highlights architectural elements, specimen trees, and pathways, allowing the outdoor spaces to transition beautifully from day to evening.
The result is a cohesive outdoor environment that blends resort-style comfort with timeless landscape design, perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying Southern California living.

After a flood swept through the 6000 sf Terrace Level of this home near Atlanta, GA, the homeowners were referred to JDA to re-design and coordinate the renovation. Our scope included a wine room, bar, tasting room, guest suite, game room, screening room, family room, and fitness areas. But the standout has always been the spa. Featuring a locker room, a small sauna, and steam room, the spa felt like an afterthought. 23 months later, the spa stands out for other reasons.
Custom sourced, handmade quilted leather doors with knurled brass hardware conceal to a vanity and changing area. Inside, dark mica flake walls glint subtly in the lighting that cycles lazily between moody color pallets as you walk through the space, leading you past refreshment bars and towel stations to find the cast concrete tub. Above you, a dark ceiling appears to float, with edge lighting separating it from the custom American Walnut wall cladding. And everything is drenched in the hyper-warm glow emanating from the lighted pink Himalayan salt wall, which leads to a glass door. Inside is the sauna. There, a second salt wall, backing up to the first, highlights the bespoke curved western red cedar benches and soft cove lighting, providing an intimate and relaxing halotherapy experience.
Across the tub room, a glass wall perfectly reflects the first salt wall. Inside, is a surprisingly large steam. A softly rounded, barrel vaulted ceiling is clad in dark, iridescent, Italian mosaic glass tiles. Benches wrap two walls and meet at a vessel sink, perched atop a stone plinth filled with ice to refresh yourself. If you still become overheated, the pull chain attached to the rain shower is set to provide a cold deluge. And to the side, a small touch screen activates the 6 ceiling mounted shower heads aligned above an 8’ stone bench. This is a Vichy shower, which is a shower you of course enjoy lying down. Vichy showers are more prevalent in Turkish hammams to wash away mud treatments. Here it’s placed inside the steam room, allowing you to experience multiple temperature extremes simultaneously.
JDA created a signature spa, designed to provide our clients with an immersive & transformative experience, unlike any other residential spa in Atlanta.

This study was completed in Nolensville, Tennessee after an in-depth discussion with the RSU Design Team. A private room of this magnitude and functionality have everything you need to help you concentrate on the most pressing of tasks at hand. As you enter the room through the french doors your eyes are immediately drawn to the hardwood flooring which is accentuated by the wainscot panelling.
The detailed craftsmanship of the custom molded mantel, showcasing the cambria hearth/ fireplace, provide this room with a formal yet cozy setting to encourage intimate discussions. The focal point of this room is the intricately designed shelving and cabinetry located directly behind the desk.

This modern-rustic bathroom in Los Altos blends timeless finishes with thoughtful custom details. A contemporary renovation on the Atlantic, this oceanfront residence sits within The Carlton—an intimate beachfront enclave just down the road from John's Island on Vero Beach's barrier island. The interior was reworked from the original layout into a light, open plan that runs from the entry straight through to the water.
Walls of glass frame the ocean from nearly every room. The living and dining spaces open across honed limestone floors beneath a recessed tray ceiling, with a private terrace—columned, candle-lit, and set directly above the surf—extending the living area into the sea air. The kitchen was taken fully modern: handleless white cabinetry, integrated appliances, a waterfall island, and brushed-brass hardware, all kept clean against the natural-fiber textures of the rooms around it. Guest and primary baths were rebuilt with custom vanities, frameless glass, and quartz surfaces. Throughout, a restrained coastal palette—ivory, driftwood, woven natural materials—lets the ocean stay the focal point.
